June 15th, 2010
I just found out that June is National Skyscraper Month! Pretty random but I guess we should all celebrate by congregating round the nearest Bermuda skyscrrrrr- oh wait, I see why that wouldn't work…never mind… It is also Soul Food Month, can we celebrate that instead? Anyway, here's what's coming up:
- BIFF's June Film Series selection, Sita Sings the Blues, is scheduled to screen on Thusday, June 17th at 6.30pm at the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. Running time is 83 minutes, a synopsis of the film is at www.biff.bm/film_series/film_series.html and tickets are $10 or $8 for BIFF members.
- Last time I mentioned the Bermuda Hockey Wine-Tasting Series. There's a separate poster for the June 18th event, so I'm just including it here – this one is a Power of Three event and details are outlined in this poster.
- The 1st Annual Windreach StarFest on Saturday, June 19th, promises to be an evening filled with the best of Bermuda’s musical talent, including Louise Southwood, Bones, The Travelers, Working Title Band, Prestege and DJ Lee Hawke, celebrating the world’s musical “Heroes”. This is being billed as a "must-do" event and a magical night of live music, dancing, good food and celebration of summer. For anyone looking for tickets, there are three options available. General admission is $75 each and includes the BBQ dinner/show and public seating. Reserved tables are $1250 per table of ten or $125 per person and includes a cocktail reception, BBQ dinner/show, reserved tables and on-property parking. Patrons pay $250 and this includes exclusive upper porch dining and bar facility, a cocktail reception, sumptuous four course menu, wine, and preferred parking in Upper Activity Centre car park. Details are on the attached flyer, for tickets, contact 238-2469 or firstname.lastname@example.org. As fun as all this sounds, the best part is that your support of this evening helps Windreach to continue their programmes of recreational, educational, and work experience opportunities for all persons with special needs – see www.windreachbermuda.com for more information on their work.
- Seems like Bermuda dads are tired of the usual ties, socks and soap-on-a-rope! The Hotrageous Father's Day Fashion Show will be at the Southampton Princess on Sunday, June 20th from 9pm. Hosted by Secrets, this show will have some of Bermuda's most beautiful ladies modelling "Hotrageous" lingerie and swimwear. This is for gentlemen only and the dress code is Smart Casual (no tracksuits, sneakers or hats). Tickets are available from Secrets and there is special pricing for group sales. Here's the flyer with more details.
