April 21st, 2011

Hi Boys and Girls!

Just a quickie before the holiday weekend:

  • Happy Hour at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess is not on this week and Lemon Tree and Newstead Happy Hours will be tonight instead.

  • Sabor Dance School classes start for the new term next week, Monday, April 25th, with the new addition of Steppin' – a smooth urban style popularised by R. Kelly. For more information, see www.bermudasalsa.com!

  • For anyone interested in helping women to have a satisfying birth experience, there is a three-day Doula Training Course on the weekend of Friday, April 29th until Sunday, May 1st. Whether you want to create your own small business or just want to be there to support a loved one during the birth (note that King Edward Memorial Hospital only allows one person in the delivery room at a time, along with a Doula or trained birth coach), Rae Davies and Sophia Cannonier will teach you everything from labour support to physical comfort techniques to breast feeding.  The course will be held at the Lotus Wellness Centre on Victoria Street – contact Barb at 296-5900 to reserve your space.  Here's the flyer with full information

  • International Imports have released their cooking course schedule for Spring and it includes a good variety from cake-decorating to BBQ'ing with local chefs from Beau Rivage (Jean Claude Garzia), Bolero Brasserie (Guy Power), Fairmont Hamilton Princess (George Muhlbacher), Cambridge Beaches (Keith DeShields) and Lemon Tree (Brendan Huttick and Chef Wasantha), to name but a few, on hand to give you their best tips.  This starts on Tuesday, May 3rd – here's the full schedule with detail!

  • Team Oni Racing Club (TORC), Bermuda's first custom tuner automotive club, are hosting TORC's Ultimate Drivers Challenge on Saturday, June 11th.  This will be from 2pm until 7pm at the Southside Racing Facility  and is a five category automotive driving competition for local drivers and TCD licensed vehicles. The categories consist of 0-40-0 Acceleration & Braking, The Grand Slalom, Rapid Lane Change, 0-60 mph Sprint and The Pit Stop. If interested in competing, the entrance fee for drivers is $50 for participation in any two categories, and $20 per category thereafter.  There is also the option to enter all five categories for $110 and challenge to become TORC's Ultimate Driver.  Official TORC members can enter two categories for free with $20 per category thereafter.  All drivers receive a two free tickets, UDC dash badge, sponsors gift pack and free soft drinks. More details can be found on their website at www.oniracing.com and they are currently accepting driver registration until Friday, May 13th – here's the invitational flyer!
