Happy Friday the 13th!!
Here are the latest Bermuda events to keep you out of trouble:
- Whether you are actively job-hunting right now or just looking to brush up on your job-seeking skills for when you need them, you may be interested in the Employment Transitioning Workshop at Church of Christ, Brighton Hill tomorrow from 11am until 1pm. This workshop is part of the Faith Community Outreach Programme developed and recently launched by Senator Kim Wilson, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Services available will include resume writing, job search training, current job availability listing, how to fill out applications, interview skills, dress for success, how to keep a job, counseling, emotional support, prayer and spiritual guidance. - TROIKA Bermuda are continuing with their mission to keep the drama on-stage by giving young people the opportunity to get involved in dramatic art, song and dance. In association with the Broadway Dance Center of New York, TROIKA will be hosting their first ever Performing Arts Master Class Workshop, entitled Groove, on Saturday, May 14th at the Berkeley Institute. This event is billed as Bermuda's 1st Ultimate Dance Workshop Marathon, bringing Bermudian dancers together with the industry's top professional choreographers in a fun, challenging, non-competitive environment that fosters self-fulfillment and development. The event will feature intense master classes from the top working choreographers in the entertainment industry and includes JaQuel Knight (Hip Hop: Beyonce – Single Ladies, Britney Spears, Burlesque), LUAM (Hip Hop/Jazz Funk: Rihanna, Ciara, Fergie, Ashanti, Busta Rhymes), Dana Foglia (Contemporary/Heels: Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Rihanna and New Kids on The Block) and Onika "Neeks" Powell (Dancehall: Sean Paul, Rihanna, Beenie Man, Diddy). - The Hamilton Parish Youth Sports Program will be hosting a Friday Night Fish Fry Fundraiser in aid of their tour for the AC Milan Continental Cup Youth Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. This will take place at Shelly Bay Field on Friday, May 27th between 4pm and 9pm and food will be prepared by Sid’s Seafood. The price is $15 and includes fish and chips, macaroni, coleslaw, beets and dessert. - After the success of the last one, the Chewstick Foundation are holding another Artists' Retreat! This will be at Paget Island from Friday, May 27th until Sunday, May 29th. The cost is $150 per person however full and partial scholarships are available. Full details are on their website here.
- One for all you super-sleuths out there – Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club in association with Triangle Theatre present Mommy Dearest: A Murder Mystery by Carol Birch on Saturday, May 28th from 6.30pm. The evening will include a complimentary cocktail hour with canapés, 3 course dinner, including a glass of wine, and the interactive show. Dress code is Dress To Impress and there are prizes for the best-dressed detective. The cost is $65 for adults, $32.50 for kids aged 5 to 12, and free for kids 4 and under.
