Morning Troops!

  • First up, a bit of an announcement as the very first Nothing to do in Bermuda? event will be in a couple of weeks!  Start forming teams of 4 for the NTDIB Neon: 1st Charity Golf Tournament!  Arrival is at 8pm and the game starts as soon as it gets dark (around 8.45pm).  Bring your own refreshments (glass is discouraged for obvious reasons), a flashlight and 3 to 5 golf clubs (unless you want to rent some there).  Glow-in-the-dark golf balls will be provided.  This is a rain or shine event so you might want to plan your outfit accordingly – although costumes are definitely not discouraged!  Prizes have been generously donated by the lovely people at Premier Distributors.  The cost is $50 per head and $10 proceeds will go to CADA to help with their tireless work in encouraging responsible alcohol behaviour. Tickets are available now from www.premierticketsglobal.com - just shoot an email to Anthony.Mocklow@fairmont.com once purchased to let him know who is in your team.  Tickets are on sale until June 7th, although I expect them to sell out before then.  For anyone who wants to continue their Friday night in Southampton, The Cellar are kindly offering a free drink to all participating golfers.  Here's the flyer and here's the link to the event on Facebook!  **UPDATE:  As an added extra, Bacci are doing a little BBQ for us beforehand, from around 6.30pm. The cost is $20 a head.  Just shoot me an email at ntdiBermuda@hotmail.com if you'd like a copy of the menu.  **EXTRA UPDATE:  This event has now sold out due to many awesome people buying all the available tickets – yippee!!

  • To coincide with the visit of the Pied Piper cruise ship group, Rumbar presents Sybil Barrington, Queen of Bermuda, on Thursday, June 2nd.  There are drinks specials all night long with showtime at 7.30pm and then throughout the night.  Here's the flyer!

  • After the success of this event last year, Snorkel Park Beach are throwing another Heineken Wet and Wild Party. This will be on Sunday, June 11th from 7pm until 3am and they promise that this year will be even wetter and wilder! Prepare to get wet as soon as you walk in (so dress accordingly and bring your own towel) as this will feature swimming pools, Slip n' Slides, water guns, snow machines, bubble machines, foam machine, sprinklers all over the dance floor and beach, YGS Heineken Girls, party Cups, Beach Ball and much more. Admission is free for ladies in bikinis before 11pm, otherwise it is $20 in advance or $30 at the gate. Tickets are available from Snorkel Park, Sound Stage, Kit 'n' Caboodle, YGS Heineken Girls or promotors YGS and Off Level. Here's the flyer and here's the link to the Facebook event!

  • This might be the best job title of all time! Gorilla Doctors (The Lecture Series) is coming to Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI on Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th. The Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project (MGVP), an American nonprofit working in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is dedicated to saving the lives of mountain gorillas. With only about 800 mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) left in the world today, MGVP works to ensure the health and well being of every individual gorilla possible. MGVP’s international team of veterinarians, known as the Gorilla Doctors, is the only group providing wild mountain gorillas with direct, life-saving medical care. The evening begins with cocktails at 6.30pm, music from Samite at 7pm and the lecture from Dr. Mike Cranfield from 7.30pm until 8.30pm. Tickets cost $20 and are available from www.bdatix.com.  Here's the flyer!

  • Every year the BermudaSalsa.com Group, through its production company SalsaMania Productions, stages Mambo Nights, a Broadway-style Latin dance and music showcase, featuring some of the best dancers and musicians in the world. This involves a whole host of associated events (including an island cruise, dance workshops, beach party, BBQ..) from the 11th until the 17th of August, although the main attraction will be the show itself, Mambo Nights: City Lights, on Saturday, August 13th in the Harbourview Ballroom at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Doors open at 8pm, showtime is at 8.30pm and tickets cost $55. VIP tickets include premium table seating and a goody bag and cost $75. All workshops are held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Harbourview Ballroom and cost $20 for a single workshop or $80 for the workshop pass to all 5. The Full event pass includes the showcase and all workshops and costs $125 or the VIP full pass, which includes VIP show ticket and all workshops is $145.
