Happy Friday Kids!

 

Almost time for another awesome weekend on The Rock – here are a few more options for the next few weeks in case you haven't quite decided what you're doing yet:

 

  • Fashionistas rejoice, as tomorrow night, The City of Hamilton promise to bring us the biggest and best fashion show Bermuda has ever hosted! Evolution Fashion Extravaganza is a free event, starting at 7pm on City Hall Grounds, and will feature 27 city retailers, 7 salons, a 150 foot runway, more than 150 models and Top Model International 2011 winner Deandra Brangman., For more information, see the website here - here's the flyer!

 

  • You are invited to come out and represent wherever you’re from and see Bermuda’s diverse culture at Where Yuh From: The Offical Pre- Cup Match Soca Warm Up. This will be from 10pm until 3am on Friday, July 22nd at The Cellar Club Lounge/ Nightclub with Soca music by D’Nice and D’General. There will also be the opportunity to win 2 tickets to Bermuda Summer Jam featuring Kes The Band live at Tiger Bay.   • Magic and Dance, together at last, the DanceSations Summer Dance Show 2011 will also includes performances by Smooth Lue of Bermuda Magic. There will be two shows on Saturday, August 20th, at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are $22 and available from www.bdatix.com.   • 2011 marks the arrival of the very first Bermuda Gospel Festival in The Virtualling Yard in Dockyard. This will be on Thursday, August 25th until Saturday, August 27th with host Dr. Bobby Jones and the lineup for the Thursday will be Mary Mary, Vashawn Mitchell, Jessica Reedy, Y'Anna Crawley and Leandria Johnson, Friday will be Kim Burrell and the Divine Voices Vocal Competition, while Dr. Bobby Jones & The Nashville Choir, Kiki Sheard, Karen Clark Sheard and Fred Hammond are performing on the Saturday. Early Bird Tickets cost $75 for a 1 Day Pass, $200 for a 3 Day Pass and $150 for a VIP Pass. From August 1st, prices will go up to $90 for a 1 Day Pass, $245 for a 3 Day Pass and $180 for a VIP Pass.  For tickets or more information, see www.bermudagospelfestival.com.

 

  • These are all in the Regular/Recurring Events section but, just in case you missed them, here is a quick recap of what Fairmont Hamilton Princess have going on over the summer. Mondays are Martini Mondays where their Mixologists create a speciality Martini every Monday night at special prices. Tuesday is the Island BBQ featuring local and Caribbean dishes on The Harbour Terrace from 6pm until 9.30pm. This is preceded by Bermuda Rum 101 on the Princess Patio from 5.30pm until 6pm. Wednesdays have complimentary wine-tasting from 5.30pm until 6.15pm followed by a special paired menu in Harleys Restaraunt. Thursdays are Oyster & Chablis Night with fresh oysters flown in the night before with a chilled glass of chablis served tableside from 5pm. Friday is of course Happy Hour from 5pm until 9pm with live music or a DJ and cocktails. On Saturdays, you can enjoy Jazz under the Stars from 6.30pm until 9.30pm as you dine on Harley's Terrace and listen to a live jazz band. Sunday Brunch is from 12.30 pm until 3.30pm and you can join the Artist in Residence at Windjammer II from 2pm until 5pm. Here's the flyer!
