Happy Friday Ladies and Gents!
I feel a great weekend is coming up – here's what's happening in Bermuda:
- Put on your dancing shoes and dig out your old school uniform/preppiest nerd outfit for Salsamania's Back 2 School Party tonight! To celebrate the start of their new term, this will be at Rumba'r (Latin Restaurant) from 8.30pm until midnight. Admission is free and there will be a special performance by Sabor Dance School – here's the link to the event on Facebook!
- Looking for something kid-friendly to do tomorrow? Super Saturday at Masterworks is tomorrow and families can participate in free art activities from 10am until 2pm. Each month has a different theme and this coming Saturday will have rainforest-themed arts and crafts, monkeys, snakes, Toucan headbands and more. Full details can be found at www.bermudamasterworks.com - here's the flyer!
- Not one for the kids but two movies will be showing at the Bermuda National Library tomorrow – the first screening will be The Amityville Horror at 11am, followed by The Shining at 2pm. Entry is free!
- Jan Fraser will be presenting the one-day seminar, How to Build Your Dream Team, on Friday, October 7th at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce Boardroom, Albouys Point. This will be from 9am until 5pm and aims to teach you the personal leadership traits and skills that spark energy and enthusiasm on the part of your team members. The cost is $447 – to register, or for more information, contact Keyla at kgrant@bm.bm or call 292-7279 ext 26.
- The Association of Canadians in Bermuda have once again come to the rescue for any Canadians who can't make it home for Thanksgiving! Their Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner will be on Saturday, October 8th at the Mariners' Club with dinner service from Mad Hatters. Cocktails start at 6pm and the evening goes until 10pm. Tickets are $60 and available from www.bdatix.com.
- Due to the popularity of their first sold-out event in April, TEDxBermuda will once again bring people together to share big ideas from Bermuda and beyond at the Fairmont Southampton on Saturday, October 15th. From 12.30pm until 6pm, local and international luminaries will give insightful presentations and inspiring performances. Speakers and performers include Pen Hadow, Dickson Despommier, Joy Barnum, Lawrence Sass, Mike Ramsdell, Jeff Masters, Dr. Anthony Ruto, Audette Exel, Ryan Legassicke and Larry Mills. For bios and more information, see http://tedxbermuda.com. An early-bird rate of $70 per ticket is valid until October 2nd and available from www.premierticketsglobal.com.
- What could be better than wearing a tiara for a good cause? The Prince and Princess Ball is a fundraiser for Seasons Learning Centre and will feature ballroom dancing, masterpiece theatre, face decoration, crafts, live entertainment and more. This will be at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Sunday, October 16th from 3pm until 6pm and dress code is, unsuprisingly, formal ballgown and tuxedo/prince's suit. Tickets are $65 for both adults and children and are available from www.bdatix.com – here's the flyer!
