Happy Friday Kids!

Just a quickie before the weekend:

  • Guess who is coming to Daisy and Mac tonight?  I'll give you a clue – he dresses in red and white and has a big belly that shakes when he laughs like a bowlful of jelly..  Yup, between 6pm and 9pm, you can have your photo taken with Santa and receive a free gift.

  • Chewstick have announced the launch of T.W.I.G.S., a monthly youth open-mic jam session that will start this Saturday, December 10th from 6pm until 9pm at the Chewstick Neo-Griot Lounge & Cafe on the corner of Elliot Street and Court Street. This programme will take place on the second Saturday of every month, and will give creative young people, under the age of eighteen, a chance to showcase their talents in the same format as Chewstick’s legendary Sunday night open-mic jam sessions. T.W.I.G.S., an acronym for “True Wisdom in Growing Souls” is meant to empower Bermuda’s youngest artists to take ownership of their talents, and give them a positive social outlet that can help them to grow and connect with each other. There is a dedicated backline (drums, keyboard, bass and guitar amps) at the fully equipped Chewstick lounge, and youth are encouraged to bring their tracks, guitars or whatever they need to shine. Entry at $5 (extra donations are appreciated) and soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Adults are encouraged to attend – but only if accompanied by a young person in their lives. For further information call 292-2439 or email info@chewstick.orghere's the flyer!

  • A great chance to make some savings on local art, ArtMart at Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA), City Hall will be hosting a one-day pre-Christmas sale on Saturday, December 10th from 10am until 2pm. Some of the artists who will be offering their work at discounted prices include Jolene Bean, Chris Grimes, Heidi Cowan, Alexander Mosher, Andre Linke, Ami Zanders, Donna & Michele Smith, Nahed Eid, Jolene Bean, Cathy Ann Hansey, Chris Burville, Charles Henry, Tricia Walters and Eileen Thorne. Admission is free and open to the public - here's the flyer!

  • Due to popular demand, Petals have added an extra Holiday Season Workshop next week!   This will be on Tuesday, December 13th.  One of their floral designers will the workshop with a demonstration, guiding you through the process of making your own custom-designed 12” wreath or a miniature tree (which you get to take home with you) and includes a selection of decorations and materials. The workshop is from 6pm until 8pm and costs $75 if you are buildling a wreath or $100 for a minature tree. Spaces are limited but you can reserve by calling 292-7303 or info@petalsbermuda.com – here's the flyer!

  • Got loads of Lemon Tree tickets leftover from the summer?  Luckily, you won't have to wait until next year to use them as they will be having a pre-Christmas Happy Hour on Friday, December 23rd from noon onwards!
