Good morning, Kids!
Hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend – here’s the latest on the Bermuda calendar:

The latest in the BUEI Talks series will be SEALAB and a Forgotten Undersea Quest by Ben Hellwarth on Thursday, June 18th.
SEALAB is the first complete account about the Navy divers and scientists – along with adventurers like Jacques Cousteau – who set out to achieve longer, deeper dives than ever thought possible and to create the marine equivalent of space stations. During the first SEALAB experiment, in 1964, four Navy divers lived for 10 days 25 miles SW of their Bermuda base and nearly 200 feet below the Atlantic surface. Two more SEALAB ventures followed, both carried out along the Southern California coast. These first “aquanauts,” opened a new door to the ocean depths and forever changed diving and undersea operations. Book signing to follow talk.
Ben Hellwarth, a veteran journalist, interviewed many SEALAB participants and uncovered lost documents to write the first comprehensive account of this lesser-known U.S. venture and several others that led to major breakthroughs in deep diving. As a newspaper staff writer in California, he has won a number of notable awards and his recent writing has appeared in The NY Times, Men’s Journal, Slate and Discover magazine. He also blogs for The Huffington Post.
The lecture itself will start at 7.30pm and Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar and the full menu will be available from 6pm – please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount. This cannot be combined with any other offers and reservations can be made by calling 295-4207.

Each team puts up $500 and, at the end of the match, those charities that have come out to support have the opportunity to win the $1,000 purse in a raffle style draw.
The object is to get charities to show up in the colours of the team they support and bring at least 10 of their members out. The charities that support the winning team will then go into the draw to win the purse.
