Bring your dinner and a blanket and join Bermuda National Library Youth Services for an evening of stories, music and magic at Family Story Night on Thursday, November 17th.

This will be from 5.30pm until 7pm in the Youth Library Auditorium.

Interested in expanding your opportunities with a Bachelor’s degree?  You are invited to an Information Session about the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Bachelor of Business Administration in association with Bermuda College on Thursday, November 17th.

If you have experienced a loss then, with the holiday season approaching, it could be worth considering attending a special program which offers practical ways to cope and begin your healing process at Coping During the Holidays on Friday, November 18th.

This annual event, organized by Kiwanis Club of St. George’s in collaboration with Alpha Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, is again this year held at Ebenezer Church in St. George’s at 6.30pm.

Participants are invited to bring a photo of your loved one.

It is free, non-denominational, and open to all ages.  Pre-event sign up is helpful for organisers, however, you are welcome to attend without signing up.

Enjoy a great opportunity to shop for fresh local goods as The Bermuda Farmers Market will return on Saturday, November 19th.

From 8am until noon in the Jack King Building in the Botanical Gardens each week, you can shop for fresh produce, baked goods, healthy snacks and drinks, health and beauty products, arts and crafts, plants, and much more.  The Market will run weekly until July 1st, 2017.

Find a new treasure while supporting a good cause at the Phenomenal People’s Annual Vintage Boutique Sale on Saturday, November 19th.

Running from 10am until 2pm in the Christ (Anglican) Church Hall, this is a boutique sale event comprising of costume jewellery, home accessories, vintage one-of-a-kind items, and gently-used apparel for men, women and children. There will also be grab bags, spotlight items, music and baked goods.

Proceeds will go to to D.R.E.A.M Girls Club projects and Education Fund and this event is hosted by Phenomenal People (Charity #755).

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the spoke-tacular Tokio Youth Mountain Bike Series will be back on Saturday, November 19th.

This free, family-friendly series, sponsored by Tokio Millennium Re and Bicycle Works, has the aim to introduce primary school aged children to cycling as a way to help promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.

There are 6 events held at the Arboretum at 4pm on Saturdays, November 19th, 26th and December 3rd, then January 7th, 14th and 21st.  At the end of the series, one child’s name will be drawn to win a bike from Bicycle Works.

Registration opens 45 minutes prior to the event and children must bring their own helmet, bike and wear sport shoes. All participants will receive a goodie bag and registration can be done at the event.  Entry forms can also be obtained in advance from TokioMillennium.com or Bicycle Works.

The November edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be on Sunday, November 20th in the usual location of the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI.

The People vs Fritz Bauer, an award-winning drama about the hunt for Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, will be showing at 3pm.

This will be followed by Cameraperson, an award-winning documentary is a personal memoir as well as a thoughtful examination of what it means to train a camera on the world, at 5.15pm.

Proving that the best things come in small packages, the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard presents their annual Small Works show, opening on Sunday, November 20th.

The art is in all media and features Bermuda’s leading artists.  Each piece will be no larger than 8” x 10”, which means that it is easy to pack, easy to ship and very affordable.

The opening is from 5.30pm until 7pm on Sunday, November 20th and the show runs until January 13th.

Admission is free. The Arts Centre is open daily from 11am to 4pm and is wheelchair accessible.

The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard invite you to come and bid on a variety of special items at the Bermuda Treasures Silent Auction on Sunday, November 20th.

This auction will be held during the opening of Small Works from 5.30pm until 7pm, and will include an eclectic mix of Bermuda items that any collector will not want to miss, such as old bottles, books, furniture, dolls and other interesting objects.

Bring your sketchbook and enjoy a glass of wine as you art journal at Sip & Sketch on Mondays, November 21st and 28th.

This will run from 6pm until 7.30pm in the Masterworks Classroom and all materials other than your sketchbook are included.

The package deal for all four courses is $165. To test a class is $50 each and participants must register by 3pm on the day of the course.

Event

Bermuda’s unique brand of hospitality was once renowned for first-class restaurant and hotel service. Bermuda Collegen say that it’s time to recapture those days, and they need your help.  Bermuda College in partnership with the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the Bermuda Hospitality Industry and the Restaurant Division of the Chamber of Commerce, will be offering a new, externally-certified, Restaurant Servers Course beginning January 2017, with an Information Session to be held on Tuesday, November 22nd.

This session will take place at 6pm in Hallett Hall.  No formal qualifications are required however, personal integrity is a must.

Relax, wind down and paint as you enjoy a fun and creative evening at Art with a Twist on Tuesday, November 22nd.

From 6.30pm until 9pm in the Masterworks Classroom, Adrienne Smatt will help you to create your own masterpiece to take home in this step-by-step painting workshop.  At the same time, you can sip on a creative cocktail by Twisted Spoon.

Bermuda National Gallery invite you to join them for an evening of artistic expression as local poets respond to the artwork featured in the 2016 Bermuda Biennial at The Art of Poetry on Wednesday, November 23rd.

Using the Ekphrastic Poetry style, the poetic works will add a new dimension to the visual art on display.  An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning.

The event will begin at 6.30pm at Bermuda National Gallery and poets will include Alan C. Smith, Donna Marie- Bell, Andrea Ottley, Fetuolemoana Elisara (read by Tona Symonds), Grace Welch, Michael Jones, and the M.C. will be Dr. Kim Dismont Robinson.

Who needs Black Friday when you can get even better bargains while supporting good causes in Bermuda at Secondhand Saturday on Saturday, November 26th?

Secondhand Saturday is celebrated on the Saturday after the US Thanksgiving Holiday. Its main purpose is to encourage locals, during the busiest shopping time of the year, to shop and support our charity thrift shops.

Participating stores include Bermuda Red Cross Thrift Shop, The Barn, Dress for Success, Salvation Army Thrift Shop, and  Secondhand Rose.
Each shop will have their own in-shop promotions and specials so don’t miss out.

The St. David’s Island Historical Society invite you to celebrate an 18th Century Family Christmas with them on Sunday, November 27th.

From 6pm, youngsters can come in their pyjamas for a night of stories, movies, games and fun, with dinner and a light breakfast included.  Adult supervision will be provided  Pick-up the following day is at 8.30am sharp.

Get ready for a superb evening of boxing at Takeover Fight Night on Saturday, December 3rd.

This event is headlined by Nikki Bascome, who will be fighting locally for the first time this year in a 6 round bout against a much more experienced overseas opponent, Donny Miller.  Nikki is stepping things up in response to the suggestion that he is fighting below his potential. For fight fans, it will be interesting to see him have to strategize against a more seasoned and experienced opponent.

Andre Lambe will reappear as a co-main event after his win against Dorian Bostic last month at Snorkel Park, as Rego’s gym prepares him to turn pro at a near point in time. Andre will face overseas opponent Jason Canamaso from Baltimore Boxing.

Controversy Gym’s Tyler Christopher will look to defend his unbeaten 5-0 win streak in facing a tough overseas opponent in Gilbert Vargas Silva also from Baltimore Boxing as well.

They will be supported by 5 other fights with local boxers such as Shannon Ford, Robert Somner, Zain Philpot and Coleman Mills thus far. Additionally, two international K1 Kickboxing fights featuring Samir Furqan and Krista Dyer who both have had a successful stint overseas in San Shou competitions. They will both face Canadian opponents.

Team Oracle, who put on a spectacular display of boxing with their debut fighter, Jeff Causey last month, left fans desiring more, so an invitation has been extended for them to compete at this event as well.

Doors to the Berkeley Institute Gymnasium open at 6pm with the first bout at 7pm.  This event is for over-18s only.

Regular tickets are $65, while VIP tickets, which include special parking, separate entrance, segregated seating, and food and beverage, are $125.

Celebrate the season by running or walking to support the Bermuda Red Cross at MAAC’s annual Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, December 11th.

This is a 5K route, starting and finishing at Bermuda Air Conditioning at Mills Creek. Walkers will start at 8.30am, followed by runners at 9am.

New this year is a 2K Kids Race, for 7 to 13 year olds, which will start at 8.30am.

The race fee is $30 for the 5K race and $15 for the 2K race, with registration available at www.RaceDayWorld.com.
