Happy Father’s Day to all the dads on Sunday and hope you all have a great holiday weekend. Here is the latest round-up of what’s happening in Bermuda:
Red Steakhouse and Bar have kindly provided details of their weekly events for the month.
On Wednesdays you can enjoy Steel Pan Performances by Robert Symons and allow his music to take you to your own personal paradise. From 5.30pm until 9pm, lovely relaxing rhythms will make the steel pan as warm as a tropical island breeze.
With an open air patio overlooking the water, Red is one of Front Street’s hottest spots to spend your Friday Night. Happy Hour will run from 4pm until 7pm with drink specials including $4 highballs, $5 beers, and $6 on select house wines. Dinner reservations are welcome or just enjoy light bites from the bar menu in the lounge or patio. The talented DJ Ole begins every Friday at 10.30pm and plays a mix of popular music, remixed old favorites and Latin vibe music until 2.30am.
On Saturday evenings, guests will be offered a complimentary amuse bouche and palate cleanser by Executive Chef Chad Mitchell. Ukulele artist Mike Hind will then be creating the vibe throughout dinner. He is a true entertainer playing songs on request and adding in his own unique lyrics for humour until 10.30pm. Late night entertainment will them be provided by The Big Chill’s DJ Felix who will be playing the best in house, deep house and late night jams.

Good news for football (soccer) fans as Lemon Tree will be broadcasting live World Cup games on 4 large outdoor TVs from Thursday, June 12th until Sunday, July 13th.
The schedule of games will be available at Lemon Tree Cafe, along with drink promotions, prize giveaways and a BBQ menu, so you are invited to bring your friends and enjoy watching the game live from the comfort of their back patio.

BUEI and LookBermuda invite you to see Nonsuch Island through the lens of National Geographic photographer, David Liittschwager, and LookBermuda’s J-P Rouja on Thursday, June 12th.
Nonsuch Excursions with NatGeo’s David Liittschwager & J-P Rouja promises to be an evening filled with highlights from their Nonsuch excursions including videos, photos and an update on this year’s cahow season and CahowCam. For more information www.nonsuchisland.com.
Doors open at 6.30pm with Happy Hour prices on drinks at Harbourfront. The lecture itself will start at 7.30pm and Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount to anyone dining there before or after the event. Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art invite you to join them in the Rick Faries Gallery for the opening reception of the exhibition, The Journeys of War Baby, on Friday, June 13th.
The reception will run from 5.30pm until 7pm and the show will feature documentary photographs made by Warren Brown during his epic around the world adventures on his sailboat War Baby.
Each photograph is accompanied by a brief anecdote offering insight to the featured location, providing a taste of the experience of traveling by sail to some of the most remote destinations on our planet. The exhibit will run until June 25th.

The Bermuda Zoological Society’s Azu Beastro are bringing back their weekly BBQ, Ribs, Reptiles and ‘Ritas, on Fridays from 5.30pm until 9pm throughout the summer.
This is a family-friendly happy hour with a picturesque view of Harrington Sound from the outside deck.
There is no cover charge so you can stop by just for the $7 Blue Macaw Margarita or stay for the all-you-can-eat BBQ at a cost of $32 for adults ($30 for members) or $14 for children under 9 ($12 for members).
Azu Beastro will also be serving dinner on Thursday and Saturday nights from 5.30pm until 9.30pm throughout the summer.

Reservation will be required to gain entry to Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo after hours.
The Twilight Summer Series is moving Westward for their next edition and will be showing blockbuster movies under the stars at T.N. Tatem Middle School Field on Saturday, June 14th and Sunday, June 15th.
June 14th’s event will start at 6pm with pre-movie entertainment before the screening of Man of Steel at 8.45pm, followed by Thor: The Dark World at 11.20pm.
Since the 15th is on Father’s Day and is also the day before Heroes Day, this event will also be a Community Fun Day from 2pm. Members of the Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Fire Service, Bermuda Regiment and St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance with some of their vehicles/appliances so that the public can see and learn about them up close. The Regiment will have one of their ceremonial canons on display.
The Amazing Spider-Man will be screened at 8.45pm, followed by Iron Man 3 at 11.25pm.
Attendees can also enjoy train rides, pony rides, fun castles, PS4 gaming on 10ft and 16ft screens, food vendors and much more.

Experience the music, art, dance, gymnastics and more that is Tapestry 2014, a creative and performing arts showcase at Somersfield Academy on Saturday, June 14th.
The show will run from 6.30pm until 8pm and performing acts will include the Somersfield Star Orchestra, The Bermy Bouncers, Bermuda School of Music Steel Orchestra, Chrysda Smith, LeBlanc Dancers, MYP Violin Group, Jackson Boys Hip Hop Dancers, The Somersfield Girls’ Fiddle Group, Warwick Academy Jazz Band and many more.
Patron tickets are $50 (which includes cocktail hour), adults are $25 and children are $10.

Snorkel Park Beach invite you to spend Father’s Day with them from 9am on Sunday, June 15th.
Kids can take part in the treasure hunt, inflatable race or the Father’s Day colouring contest and you can listen to the live band Working Title while you enjoy an all day BBQ and Pig Roast.
In addition, their featured watersports, jetski tours, oceanfront cabana and bed rentals, and all beach amenities will be available.
Entry is $10 or free if you are under 12.

Doors open at 10pm. There will be a $3 Happy Hour until midnight, music by Reality Sound and drink specials all night until the evening ends at 3am.
Admission to Club Aqua is $10 and free for ladies before 11pm.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo (BAMZ) invite you to learn more about the origins of our island home at a free illustrated talk by Dr. Bruce Rueger, visiting Assistant Professor of Geology at Colby College, Maine on Wednesday, June 18th.
Sand Between Your Toes – Volcanic Sand, That Is, A Layman’s Glimpse of Ancient Bermuda: Fragments of the Volcanic Pedestal will take place at 7pm in the Education classrooms at BAMZ.
This event is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

St. George’s and Somerset fans alike are both welcome to come and enjoy a wonderful afternoon taking a journey to Cup Match on Saturday, June 21st
Under the distinguished patronage of Mr. & Mrs. Eldon Raynor, Vernon Temple AME Church are hosting a Pre-Cup Match Teabreak and Fashion Show fundraiser from 4pm to 6pm at the Heron Bay School. This is an opportunity to hear details of past matches as conveyed by some of the legendary stars of Cup Match.
Tickets are $100 for sponsors, $30 for patrons and $20 for general admission.

One of the best places to enjoy a Bermuda sunset is from the water – which is why Discovery Wines have brought back their summer sunset cruise series aboard the Ana Luna.
The first is a celebration of the start of summer with their Summer Solstice cruise on Saturday, June 21st.
The boat will leave the dock at Grotto Bay at 7pm, returning at 9pm, and they promise to tantalise your tastebuds with an hors d’oeuvres and wine pairing reflective of summer.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda presents its second How Much Would You Pay to See Me…? Fundraiser.
Local celebrities have volunteered to raise funds for the charity by doing a variety of crazy dares live on stage at Harbour Nights on Wednesday, June 25th.
Each participant is aiming to raise at least $1,500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda through encouraging members of the community to make a pledge to see them do their dares. The contestants for 2014 are Senator Jeff Baron, Wayne Furbert JP, MP, Ed Christopher (Town Crier), Principal Charles Joynes (Northlands Primary), DJ Bitsy (Hott 107.5), Kristin White, Andrew Griffith, Chris Famous, Don Burgess (Bermuda Sun), Dwayne Caines, Katie Arnfield (Miss Bermuda), DJ Chubb & Sherri Berri (Vibe 103), Fancy (Power 95), Brother Richie (Hott 107.5) and Gavin “Djata” Smith (Chewstick).
There are 15 dares in total and these include spending a few minutes in a case of cockroaches, jumping overboard in a gown, kissing a pig, dressing in drag, acting like a dog and being wrapped in toilet paper.

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art invite you to join them in the Mezzanine Gallery for the opening reception of the exhibition, The Tucker Sisters: Under the Yellow Flag, from 5.30pm until 7pm on Friday, July 11th.
Ethel Tucker (1874-1962) and her sister Catharine (1879-1970) made a huge contribution to the artistic fabric of the Bermuda life in the first half of the 20th century. Their entrepreneurial spirit left a beloved legacy, which still resonates today through memories of the Little Green Door Tea Shop and the gift shop on Queen Street, the Little Green Shop.
The exhibit will run until October 10th.
