Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Bermuda is running from Monday, November 17th until Friday, November 21st and is part of the global movement to encourage, inspire and connect entrepreneurs to help unleash ideas.

Entrepreneurship in Bermuda and around the globe will be celebrated with events, information sessions, and opportunities to network during the month of November.

1120 Jump Start Your Social Media Marketing

Social Media is now vital to the success of small businesses in this new economy. Learn how you can jump start your social media presence with the Social Media Jump Start Workshop Series by SociaLEE Consulting.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Bermuda College, the Company of Honorary Fellows of Bermuda College presents Bermuda College: The Embryonic Years, a lecture by former Premier, Dr. David Saul on Thursday, November 20th.

Dr Saul provided valuable input into shaping the academic curriculum for the College in its formative days and, 40 years later, the only public institution of tertiary education in Bermuda is accredited, vibrant and forging forward.

The lecture will take place in the North Hall Lecture Theatre at 7pm.

1121 Meditative Hour My Serenitea

If you would like to experience some deep peace relaxation and inner peace with meditation chanting/kirtan, you may be interested in joining a Meditative Hour weekly event at My Sereni-Tea.

From 6.15pm unti 7.30pm each Friday, the group meditates with soothing yoga sounds to the accompaniment of very simple guitar tunes and drum rhythms. This ancient meditation method helps to control stress and negative emotions, calm down the mind and improve general well-being. After the meditation chant, you will listen to a short inspiring story from Vedic literature.

Come out and support some of the island’s articulate young people at the 25th Annual Middle and Senior School Debates on Saturday, November 22nd.

This will begin at 10am at Saltus Grammar School with the Middle Schools debating on the topic, “this house believes feminism is obsolete” while Senior Schools will take “this house believes children should have legal obligations towards parents after adulthood”.

This event is a great source of healthy competition, and teaches tolerance and respect for different points of view.

All are welcome at the Christmas Fair at Christ Church, Warwick on Saturday, November 22nd

1205 BNT Christmas Walkabout

Enjoy magical seasonal festivities at the annual Bermuda National Trust Christmas Walkabout in the charming old town of St. George’s on Friday, December 5th.

The excitement and romantic yesteryear elegance of this popular event should not be missed. There will be entertainment throughout the town and refreshments will be served at various locations marked on maps that will be distributed on the evening. Children can meet Santa and make Christmas crafts at the Edith Clair Spencer Hall.

The Trust’s Walkabout has become a popular community event with the generous support of volunteer musicians, dancers, singers and school groups marking the start of the Christmas season. The public are invited to explore some of the oldest continually occupied buildings in the New World, which will be decorated and candle lit for the event.

Old favourites such as the Old Rectory, Samaritans’ Lodge, Buckingham, Tucker House and the Globe Hotel will also be open on the evening, and King’s Square will have a host of dancers and musicians for your entertainment.

The Bermuda National Trust could not hold this event without a huge amount of community support, their Trust volunteers and generous sponsor, Butterfield Bank.

The Walkabout will run from 6pm until 9pm and, as well as festive, it is also free!
