Hope you have all recovered from the holiday weekend! If not, don’t worry, as there are only a couple of weeks to wait until the next one. Between now and then, here’s what’s happening in Bermuda:
The Reefs are showing us Bermuda residents some love with their special Locals’ Dinner with Free Bottle of Wine offer. From 6pm, you can enjoy their New World Cuisine in Aqua Terra with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop while sipping a complimentary bottle of wine with dinner. Aqua Terra is a new restaurant concept opening at The Reefs next to Ocean Echo with additional seating on the terrace and views overlooking the ocean. To avail of this offer, just mention that you are booking the locals dinner when making your reservation.
Promising the freshest food possible, you can now enjoy a Wadson’s Farm Tour and Dinner at The Reefs. This includes a guided tour of Wadson’s Farm with The Reefs’ chef. After selecting your choice of ingredients, you will return to enjoy a meal specially handcrafted for you by the chef. The tour will be at noon and the dinner itself will be at 7pm. The cost is $150 per person, plus 17% gratuity.
The Reefs look forward to enticing your palate with wonderfully creative local fare at their weekly Chef’s Table event. From 7pm, this exclusive 7-course wine pairing dinner party will be hosted by the culinary talents of Executive Chef Douglas Sisk. The cost is $125 per person and seating is limited to 25.
Dine and dance under the stars to the tunes of DJ Travis at the weekly Beach BBQ at The Reefs. This will run weekly from 6.30pm until 10pm on Thursdays. The cost is $55 per person.
Celebrate the weekend with Happy Hour at The Reefs. From 6pm until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy Happy Hour on the Terrace with 20% off Rum Swizzles and Dark and Stormys. You can also experience new specialty cocktails created by their bar chef. On Sundays, the Happy Hour will take place at Coconuts from 4pm until 6pm, so that you can relax after brunch.
These events will all run weekly until Labour Day (September 7th).

Four new exhibits opened on Friday, May 22nd at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall.
The Onions Gallery will feature A Bird’s Eye View of Bermuda by Bermuda Aerial Media. For the first time, Bermuda Aerial Media shows Bermuda from the air like you’ve never seen before.
Edinburgh Gallery will be showcasing An Exploration in Colour, Collage & Line by Alexandra Cooper. This collection of work is inspired by Bermuda’s natural beauty, which evokes a sense of curiosity and wonder.
Whimsical Watercolours by Charles Knights will be on display in Studio A and is a series of watercolours created by well-known violin teacher turned Plein Air artist extraordinaire.
Camera & Brush: A view of St. George’s by Daniel and Deanne Desilva will be showcased in Studio B and is an eclectic selection of paintings and photography caught by a talented couple with an interest in fine art and Bermuda’s original capital city.
The exhibits will run until Tuesday, June 9th.

Restoration Fellowship are hosting a Prayer and Deliverance Summit at The Fairmont Southampton from Wednesday, May 27th until Saturday, May 30th,
The summit will begin at 7.30pm each evening from the Wednesday until the Friday, and will end with an 8am Jericho Hour on the Saturday. The special guest speaker will be Bishop Dominic Allotey and they promise that this will be a memorable occasion, with all in for a huge breakthrough.

Celebrate Heritage Month at the Bermuda National Library as they host Cultural Connections with Dr Kuni Frith on Thursday, May 28th.
At 6pm, Dr Frith will give a lecture and presentation on the Islamic Arabic Golden Age of Medicine and its Influences on Modern Folk Medicine Globally and in Bermuda.
Copies of the book Bermuda Folk Remedies: Using Medical Botanicals for Common Ailments by Dr. Frith, along with a selection of teas, will be on sale.
This event is free but space is limited.

The Christian Education Department of the AME Churches in Bermuda presents a Youth Summit at St. Paul Centennial Hall on Friday, May 29th.
From 6pm until 9pm, the youth and the young at heart are invited to come out and discuss the music of today and and the message behind the music.
The DJ for the evening will be Brotha Richie and the panel of guests will include Wesley “Big Snipes” Hall, Tennea Hassell, Sean Tucker, Jecoa Burrows, Ernest Signor and Malinda Jennings.

The Christian Education Department of the AME Churches of Bermuda presents its Annual Leadership Institute on Saturday, May 30th.
This will run from 9.30am until 3pm at Allen Temple AME Church, with a variety of topics and presenters.
In the Biblical Ethics in 2015 workshop by Rev. Lorne Bean, you will find out what Scripture has to say and be prepared to stand on the Word of God.
Dr. Glenn Bascome will present on Discipleship: Do I really know what it Means? This workshop will enable you to determine where you are in your spiritual journey and provide guidelines for the days ahead.
In the Money Management workshop by Rev. Cyril Simmons, you will learn how to engineer your fiscal break-through.
Attendees can also earn Continuing Education Units as certificates will be presented to those who attend all three sessions.
Registration is $10, which includes lunch.

The Bermuda School of Music presents Jane Farge in Concert on Sunday, May 31st.
From 7pm at Wesley Methodist Church, you can enjoy an evening of German Lieder and Operatic Arias, including Lloyd Matthew and Jennifer Sheridan on organ and violin. This concert is dedicated to Dr. Gary Burgess

Anyone need to get swimwear-ready for this summer? Fit ‘n’ Firm Evening Water Aerobics classes will be restarting Monday, June 1st at Warwick Academy Pool.
Classes will run three times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8pm until 9pm, right up until Thursday, September 17th.
These fun and effective water fitness classes are suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness. You do not need to know how to swim.
The drop-in fee is $20, an 8-class punch card is $135 and a Season’s Pass for the full period is $420.

Harlequins RFC will be visiting to Bermuda to take part in the Atlantic Rugby Cup and, as part of their visit, the professional coaches and players of Harlequins have kindly agreed to hold a Coach the Coach Seminar on Tuesday, June 2nd.
From 5pm until 7pm at the Hamilton Princess, this is designed to provide a general overview of coaching professional sports teams and athletes – not focusing any one specific sport.
The seminar will focus coaches and teachers on the balance between the needs of the individual athlete with those of the team whilst allowing individual expression within a team framework. The Harlequins Academy coach will provide advice on nurturing and developing young talent.

Come out for a behind the scenes talk with Dr. Nicholas R. Bates on his fascinating novel that has received outstanding reviews from some of the toughest book critics around the world, At The Sharp End of Lightning, on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Internationally-renowned scientist, Dr. Bates, will be launching his first science-fiction novel drawing upon the wonders of Bermuda and its surrounding seas.
NR Bates was born in London, grew up in Wales, and lived in Canada and Bermuda. He is an oceanographer and scientist, and has published more than 130 scientific papers on ocean chemistry, climate change and ocean acidification. He is a Senior Scientist at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences and Professor of Ocean Biogeochemistry at the University of Southampton, UK. His novels focus on epic fantasy and magic realism, inspired by his deep love of the ocean and environmental sciences.
The book signing will be from 7pm until 7.30pm so that attendees can get a signed copy, just in time for Father’s Day.
The lecture itself will start at 7.30pm and Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar and the full menu will be available from 6pm – please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount. This cannot be combined with any other offers.

CDD Bermuda invites you to its Inaugural Fundraising Dinner on Wednesday, June 3rd.
This will take place at 7.30pm at Government House with the Governor and Mrs. Fergusson. Dress code is jacket and tie.
CDD Bermuda (Community Driven Development) is a charity which assists persons on financial assistance to become financially independent and self-sufficient. They help participants, in partnership with existing agencies/service providers, to overcome individual “barriers to employment” through specialised workshops, formal education, identifying and securing work-shadow opportunities and ultimately full time employment. They offer a unique ‘after-care’ programme to ensure that our participants retain employment.

Some of Bermuda’s most talented young dancers will be showing us what they’ve got at the 18th Annual In Motion Dance Showcase: Road Trip at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall.
The show will run from Friday, June 5th until Sunday, June 7th, and then from Wednesday, June 10th to Saturday, June 13th.
Showtime is at 7pm and the Saturday and Sunday shows will also have a 2pm matinee performance.

Mirrors Programme Cohort 10 will be hosting a Community Service Family Fete in aid of Tomorrow’s Voices, Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre on Saturday, June 6th.
From 9am until 2pm at T.N. Tatem Middle School, this event is a fun day for families to come out and spend time together. There will be a table tennis tournament, car/ bike wash, bake sale, fun castle, face painting, arts and crafts, music, snowballs and other fun and games.
All funds raised will be donated to Tomorrow’s Voices to support the youth who have autism.

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art will open their new show, Debra Friedman: Twelve to Twenty, Photographing Teenage Bermuda, to the public on Friday, June 12th.
Established Canadian commercial and fine art photographer, Debra Friedman, is exhibiting a series of portraits of Bermudian youth that she created as a Masterworks artist in residence. Debra photographed a large cross-section of teen culture and documented the delicate coming of age as teenagers develop their individual identities.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 11am until 4.30pm on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays. General admission is $5, or free for members and children under 12.
The exhibit will run until June 23rd.

Glow Bermuda presents Bermuda’s 1st All Inclusive Day Fete White Party on Sunday, June 14th.
From 4pm until 11pm in the garden at Par-La-Ville Park, this event will feature BLAXX from Trinidad. On decks, you’ll find DJ Chubb from Bermuda, DJ Spice from New York, and Nuphoric from Trinidad.

Back in Bermuda after 5 years exploring and touring the world, you are invited to come experience Taylor Rankin and his violin Leroy with drummer Dwight Hart at Leroyfest 2015, over 3 nights, at three different venues.
The boys will bring you into the journey they’ve been on out in the world and into the imagination and weirdness of Rankin and Leroy. Experience their unique groove, see the violin Leroy, DJ scratch and soulfully scream as Taylor manipulates his voice from accents to styles around the world.
On top of all this, 12 surprise guest artists (3 to 5 per night) will seamlessly collaborate and mingle within the shows. Each show will be a unique experience.
On Friday, June 19th, the venue will be Bermuda Society of Arts. Starting at around 8.30pm, this evening is billed as being a groovy night lined with special surprises. The cost is $40 for members and $45 for non-members from www.pTix.bm.
Friday, June 26th promises a light mini festival atmosphere, where you can watch surrounded by our fish friends at the Aquarium, with shows at 7pm and 9.30pm. Attendees to the early show can see guest artists perform at their aquarium mini venues and chill, while attendees to the late show can see guest artists perform pre-show.
