Well, the options for Christmas and NYE in Bermuda just keep on coming! And it’s a good thing too, since Christmas Eve is a week tomorrow – better start making your plans now, if you haven’t already. Remember to check the Quick Recap section at the bottom of the post for details of events that have been published in previous weeks.
Event organisers, there is only one more post left to be published in 2015, so submit all your events to me while there is still time – don’t forget to give people as much time as possible to plan to attend your events.
Renowned Cartoonist Peter Woolcock made Bermuda chuckle for decades. Now for the first time, his unpublished children’s works have been collected in one edition. Be transported into a world of stunning and rib-tickling imagination in the company of Woolcock’s Wonders.
The book launch will take place from 11am until 1pm at Bermuda National Gallery on the 2nd floor of the City Hall & Arts Centre.

In the Onions Gallery, you will find the BSoA Members’ Winter Show.
Studio A will showcase Watercolours by Martin Hatfield, new works that will make a perfect gift.
Multiplicity of Life by Belinda Tartaglia will be on display in Studio B. Her current mediums are in acrylics, occasionally in watercolours and oils, and she loves painting very vibrant and colourful paintings.
In Kingdom of Dreams by Nahed Eid in Studio C, comes an array of gauche, assemblage art and mixed media all inspired by the mystical trance of REM (rapid eye movement). Combining elements of functional art and jewelry to serve as wearable pieces weaved in between one another, she unveils the Kingdom of Dreams. Surreal memories and images which stem from that moment between sleep and reality, where we are lucid, yet dormant. Come join in this otherworldly perception , in which the wildest products of your imagination are recognised.
In the Edinburgh Gallery, photographer Melanie Fiander will host her solo show entitled, Salt Stories: 10 Years Later. She’ll be showing 44 images in total. The collection of images makes up three photo essays, each one with a story to tell. However, there is a common element among all three; salt. Both in the literal and figurative senses salt is present in the photographs.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibits will run until Wednesday, January 6th.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

From 5pm until 7pm on the Hamilton Princess terrace, overlooking the Hamilton Harbour, a live DJ will be heating things up. A specialty drink menu will be available to set the perfect mood as you lounge in luxury.
There is no cover charge. This event will not be taking place on Christmas Day or on January 1st.
Getting you into the spirit of the season, the In Motion School of Dance presents The Nutcracker Holiday Spectacular on Friday and Saturday, December 18th and 19th.
This tribute to the holidays will feature Act II of the Nutcracker and other seasonal classics with showtime is at 7pm each night and a 2pm matinee on the Saturday. All three shows will take place at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium.

Bringing you a college-style rave, Pow Parties presents Winter Wonder-Rave: Part 1 on Saturday, December 19th
From 10pm until 3am at Dockies, you can enjoy drink specials, Glow Beer Pong and Tournament, Christmas cocktails and shots, Jello shots, party giveaways and bar tab raffle, Winter Wonder RAVE Room, Top 40 party vibes in the front room, and an appearance by the Secret Santa. Music will be courtesy of Bermuda’s best EDM DJs, including Supa J, DJ Pow!. DJSmokey, DJ Shirlz and Supatone.
Tickets are $10 all night and are available at the door.
Bermuda Latin Vibes invites you to enjoy an early evening of Latin music and dance at Salsa Sunset Sunday on Sunday, December 20th.
From 4pm until 7pm, you can bring your dance shoes and a partner (having a partner is optional) to the atrium just off the main lobby of the fabulous Elbow Beach Hotel.
From 10.30am until 3pm, you can enjoy a traditional brunch featuring breakfast, seafood display, carving stations, and more. The full menu can be viewed here.

Grotto Bay invite you to let them take the hassle of preparing a festive feast off your plate as they host Christmas Brunch on Friday, December 25th.
From noon until 4pm, you can enjoy Christmas brunch, with all the local trimmings in the resort’s Hibiscus Room.

From 7pm until 10pm, he will be performing in the bar area of the resort. Mike Hind is a Bermudian entertainer and ukulele player and Best Of Bermuda Award Winner for 2015.

The evening will begin with a five-course gourmet dinner created by Executive Chef Serge Bottelli, with reservations available between 7pm and 8.30pm. The full menu can be viewed here. Following dinner, Supatone Sound will have you dancing the night away in the Deep Nightclub and Lounge, until 3am.
Partygoers will also have the best view of the fireworks at Elbow Beach at midnight.

After dinner, you can either head off to St George’s to watch the onion drop or hang out with DJ Bubbles, and his son DJ Tevin, who will get you up and dancing in the Palm Court.

After dinner, festivities will continue on board Bermuda’s Celebration Yacht. ÜberVida, which will depart Darrel’s Wharf at 11pm sharp, with boarding from 10.30pm. There will then be a countdown to midnight as you bring in the New Year under the stars with fantastic views of Bermuda’s waters and Paradise Lakes. Music will be open format featuring all genres of dancing and fun party music (requests welcome). ÜberVida will return to Darrell’s Wharf to disembark at 1.30am.
Guests can also expect party favours upon arrival at FourWays, lots of amazing giveaways and prizes throughout the night, and complimentary Moet Chandon Champagne upon arrival at FourWays and the ÜberVida Yacht.

The Roaring Twenties was a time of vigour and excitement but also a time of chaos. Prohibition, Mobsters, Al Capone. Cinema, music and fashion took to the for front. It introduced the era of the Speakeasy, The Cotton Club and the Zoot Suit. Dance became refined and energetic. On New Year’s Eve, Devil’s Isle Cafe intend to embrace this era, deliver it as a step back in time and provide a night to remember.
The evening will begin at 7.30pm with a complimentary reception of specialized cocktails, highballs, select beer and wine. They will also be hand passing canapes designed by their kitchen. The reception will be followed by a three-course sit down dinner at 8.30pm. The full menu can be viewed here. and guests will also receive a take home gift. After dinner, you can stroll down to Front Street and watch the fireworks. before returning to drink specials, $10 Champagne and a night of Devil’s Isle Hospitality. Priority will be given to dinner guests.
Guests are asked to come dressed in Roaring Twenties attire and there will be prizes for the best dressed for the era.
The entrance fee is $200 and pre-purchase is required. Space is limited so you are encouraged to book early.

Doors to the Fairmont Southampton’s Poinciana Ballroom open at 8pm, with showtime at 9pm, recreating some of the magic of the most successful and longest-running concert pairing in pop history. Local acts will include Mike Hind, the Simons Brothers Musical Band, and more with Mike Bishop serving as Master of Ceremonies.
The Dinner and Show Package includes a five course Gala Dinner served in the Mid Ocean Amphitheatre at 7pm. During dinner, you can enjoy live entertainment by the Simmons Brothers Musical Band. The menu can be viewed here.

Cambridge Beaches invite you to welcome 2016 with them at their New Year’s Eve celebration on Thursday, December 31st.

Why travel to New York to watch the ball drop when you can watch Bermuda’s twist on this tradition at the onion drop in St. George’s instead as the Corporation of St. George presents New Years Eve 2015 on Thursday, December 31st
The Olde Towne’s NYE celebration will be in King’s Square from 8.30pm until 1am, including live Music by Bermuda Idol Samantha Smith and Prestege, performances by Rockfire and music by DJ Black Lion, as well as the infamous onion drop at midnight.
There will be food vendors, raffles and fireworks at midnight.

441 Productions presents two different NYE parties at Ciroc the New Year on both levels at Pier 6 Waterfront Complex on Thursday, December 31st.
Doors open at 9pm. The Ciroc Tent on the upstairs level will be hosted by UZIMON and his Burlesque dancers and will include entertainment by DJ Hedspin (2011 Red 3Style World Champion), Charly Hustle (2015 Red 3Style Canadian Champion and Tokyo World Finalist), DJ Smokey and DJ Dan Ho.
Downstairs will be the Moët Lounge, with entertainment by Poison Dart
Rusty G, DJ Chubb and YGS.
Admission to the Ciroc Tent is $50 for Early Birds and $70 for General. VIP tables for 10, which include 5 bottles, cost $2000. Admission to Ciroc tent also allows access to Moet Lounge, two parties in one.

The January edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing 9 Mois Ferme (9-Month Stretch)at 8pm on Tuesday, January 12th.
Screening in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI, this French comedy with English subtitles is from director Albert Dupontel, with Sandrine Kiberlain, Albert Dupontel and Nicolas Marié.
Ariane Felder, a judge of strict morals, discovers she’s pregnant by Bob Nolan, a criminal wanted for murder….
All members of the public are welcome. Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for AF/BUEI members, $10 for non-members and $5 for students.
The course will run until June 5th, and is held on weekends, once a month generally, for six months.
Taught by a Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Trainer, E-RYT 500, students who graduate from this course will be eligible to become a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance – an international yoga authority providing community and certification standards for yoga teachers and schools internationally.
During the six month period of training, students will be immersed in the study and practice of yoga, providing them with: a comprehensive understanding of the teaching and practice of yoga; readiness to commence teaching immediately at the end of training; and a transformative experience of self discovery.
The cost is $2500.

Fancy trying your hand at throwing sculpting and handbuilding? Bermuda Clayworks are offering Pottery Winter Workshops until end of March.
In January, mini classes will be available from Sundays to Fridays after 6pm with a maximum of 2 people per class. In February and March, workshops will be held from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday and Friday nights with a maximum of 4 people per class.
Classes can be booked per night. One night allows for an introduction to the medium for beginners, so past students may prefer to book consecutive nights in order to complete their work.
The cost per person is $125 per 2 hour session in February and March. The January mini classes are $90 for 1 hour or $125 per person for 1.5 hours. Reservations are required. The price includes tuition, materials, firing costs and tools. A 50% deposit is due to reserve space and past students receive a 10% discount.
