It’s that time of year again! Even if you don’t celebrate the religious aspect of Easter, most of Bermuda will enjoy hot cross buns with fishcakes, and flying our kites at Horseshoe Bay on Good Friday, in addition to the chocolate coma on Sunday. Although, maybe I’m just speaking for myself about the whole chocolate coma thing…
This week’s post is relatively short, as is usual the week of a holiday, so be sure to check out the Quick Recap section at the end to see the full list of what’s coming up.

Enjoy a variety of salads and appetizers, a selection of sushi and daily varieties of delicious dishes at L’Oriental’s Asian Lunch Buffet.
The buffet will be available from noon until 2pm, Monday to Thursday, and will offer a different country’s cuisine each day of the week. Mondays will be the Philippines, Tuesdays will be Chinese, Wednesdays will be Malaysia and Thursdays will be Thai.
The cost is $22.75 per person, plus grats.

The 51st Bermuda Annual Middle & Senior Schools’ Art Show is the latest exhibit to open at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall.
This show marks the second half of this historic event and BSoA has been a proud sponsor and host of this very inspirational exhibition. The dedication of the teachers is reflected in the technique and application put into the individual and collective students work. The talent is unbelievable and needs to be appreciated.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibits will run until Tuesday, April 5th.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

St. David’s County Cricket Club are once again hosting their Annual Gilbert Lamb Day on Friday March 25th.
From 11am until 6pm, Lord’s, St. David’s will be filled with on-field races/challenges for all ages, music courtesy of Brother Richie and Jugglin Jason, vendors, the Annual Mohawk Derby and Cycle races, and of course, plenty of room for flying kites.
The Annual Landro Minors Bicycle Race will start at 4pm, followed by the Annual Mohawk Go Kart Race at 4.30pm. Races start from the Lighthouse, onto Mount Road, St. Lukes Lane, Texas Road, Great Bay Road ending at the Club.
Parking areas will be across from the movie theatre, the field next to the old police barracks, Clearwater Middle School lot, St. David’s Post Office, Black Horse, Old St. Davids Pre-School, Cashew City, and St. David’s Pre-School. St. David’s Cricket Field Gates close at 2pm for parking.

From 3.30pm until 4.45pm, there will be road closures at Lighthouse Road and Mount Road; St. Luke’s Lane and Texas Road,Junction with Texas Road and Orange Hole Road; Great Bay Road Junction with St. David’s Battery – Residents Access only after 3pm. There will be no parking along any of these roads.
An Inflatable Race Track and Race Cars will be available at a cost of $2 per lap or $10 for 5 laps, the Video Game Zone will offer PS3, Xbox 360and Wii at a cost of $5 per person per game, and Ping Pong tables will cost $5 per person for 30 mins. An All Day Pass will be available at a cost of $20.
There is no admission fee to the field.

If you are in your 20s or 30s and looking for that special someone, you may be interested in the Speed Wine, Art and Dating Event at Homer’s Cafe at Masterworks on Friday, April 1st.
From 6pm until 8pm, you can enjoy hors d’oeuvre, a glass of wine and an art activity to do with your paired partner. A cash bar will also be available.
The cost is $25 per person.

The first of the I AM Series, inspirational events in Bermuda’s social calendar, Edmond Newton is in Bermuda on Saturday, April 2nd.
A model and fashion designer from a young age, Edmond auditioned for the popular TV series Project Runway 13 times, and 13 times he was declined. Determined to make it on the show, he auditioned again and was accepted. In Season 14, Edmond was a finalist.
Now he has created a Bermuda-inspired collection of women’s fashion and debuts it at this event, which runs from 1pm until 3.30pm at the Earl Cameron Theatre.
Tickets are $45 (assigned seating) and available on www.pTix.bm. This event is supported by the Bermuda Fashion Festival.

If you have children aged between 7 and 12 who would love to experience nature hands on with fun and memorable activities, while being inspired and discovering their passion for nature then you may be interested in registering them in Dolphin Quest Connect to Nature Spring Camps, with Connect Camp 1 running from Monday, March 28th until Friday, April 1st and Connect Camp 2 running from Monday, April 4th until Friday, April 8th.
From 9.30am until 3.30pm from Monday to Friday, DQ Camp Marine Animal Enthusiasts will experience daily dolphin demonstrations with their family of bottlenose dolphins, a memorable interactive opportunity with the dolphins, hands-on conservation focused on keeping our oceans clean, learn about different marine animals – from Pole to Pole and close to home, Marine-themed Easter egg hunt & other ‘Connect with Nature’ activities, and admission and access to the National Museum of Bermuda’s onsite playground and new playroom.
The cost is $275 per week with extra hours care an additional $50. After hours will be from 8am to 9.30am and from 3.30pm until 5pm.

Calling all Italophiles, Discovery Wines promise an event that you won’t want to miss at their Italian Wine Tasting Dinner on Thursday, April 7th.
This special evening at Griffin’s Bistro at the St. George’s Club will begin with Prosecco being served by the pool from 6.30pm. Then, each delectable course of the six-course dinner will be paired with an Italian wine from Discovery Wines.
The cost is $110 per person, which does not include gratuities.

Those of you who love olde worlde-style pomp and circumstance will be happy to know that the Peppercorn Ceremony Bicentennial will be on Wednesday, April 20th.
A firm fixture on the Bermuda calendar since 1816, this year will mark the the 200th anniversary of this quaint annual tradition.
Starting from 10am in King’s Square in St. George’s, this event surrounds the ceremonial payment of the Annual Rent of one peppercorn for the continued use of the Old State House, Bermuda’s oldest building, in “free and common soccage” by the Master of Lodge St George #200, on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
His Excellency the Governor of Bermuda, in all his ceremonial finery, inspects the band and troops of the Bermuda Regiment whilst the Master, Officers and Brethren of Lodge St George parade onto the square in full Masonic regalia. The ceremony is followed by a garden party hosted by His Worship the Mayor of St. George’s at nearby Somers Gardens.
