Yup, it’s already that time of the week again! Here is your Wednesday update on what’s coming up in Bermuda.
Bermuda National Athletics Association presents, in conjunction with Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Department of Youth Sport and Recreation, an event that will be the first of its kind in Bermuda, the Bermuda Invitational Permit Track Meet on Friday, April 22nd.
From 6.30pm until 8.30pm, professional athletes from around the world, who have competed in the Olympics and World Championships will compete in Bermuda for one night only. These athletes will run the fastest times the track at National Sports Centre has ever seen.
In addition to the amazing track and field competition, there will be a happy hour available and VIP section that offers food and a meet and greet with the athletes.
The cost is $52 for VIPs, $27 for reserved seating, and $12 for uncovered seating. Tickets are available at www.bnaa.bm and

Bring your dancing shoes and join Excluzive at the Fairmont Southampton’s Jasmine Lounge on Friday evenings.
Excluzive consists of Earl Leader (band leader/drums/vocals), Tony Bari (keyboard/vocals), and Dennis Francis (bass) and they will be playing from 9pm until midnight every week until further notice.

All primary school-aged children are invited to The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) Grassroots Tennis Clinic on Saturday mornings.
The clinic runs from 9am until 10am every week until June 18th at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium.
Racquets can be provided for kids who don’t have one.
The cost is $115 for the whole term or $10 per session.

The Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation (KAF) present Kaleidoscopic Jamboree, their annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 23rd.
From 9.30am until 3pm at their premises on Jubilee Road, they will celebrate children’s literature with games, crafts, music, face painting, pony rides and much more.
Admission is $5 with the activities available to purchase.

Enjoy a fun evening while raising funds for good causes at Quiz Night at Wesley on Saturday, April 23rd.
The quiz will take place in the church hall at 7pm. Dinner is available for purchase and will be roast Italian sausage with onions and peppers, garlic bread, salad , apple crumble: tea, coffee, water or soda. Turkey chorizo or vegetable lasagne will also be available for those who do not eat red meat/pork. The cost of dinner is $12.
The cost of the quiz is $10 per person for teams of up to 6 people. You can register in advance or show up on the night. Funds raised will benefit the outreach programmes of Wesley Methodist Church.

The Australian and New Zealand community in Bermuda will respectfully observe their annual day of remembrance for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) with a Sunrise Service at Fort Hamilton at 6.15am sharp on Monday, April 25th.
While this day originally commemorated dawn landings for a wartime campaign in Turkey in 1915, the day now acknowledges all ANZACs who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served. Australians and New Zealanders across the world meet at dawn each year for a remembrance service in their respective countries.

From 1pm until 2pm at Bermuda National Library, Andrea Beazley-Fubler will be discussing why you need to reduce your sugar consumption and how you can successfully conquer your sugar addiction.
Topics covered will include: what is Insulin Resistance?; what is Chronic Inflammation?; discover where sugar’s hiding out in your pantry; learn how to read the puzzling sugar section on nutrition labels; find out all the sneaky names for sugar (even the ones in the organic aisle); is it ok to still eat fruit?; strategies on how to stomp out a sugar craving before you reach for that donut in the office kitchen; what are the healthier replacements for sugar?; and what foods you can add to your diet to help control sugar cravings. You will also learn a few strategies to begin to create more mindful eating habits.
After this session, you can take action on the information provided and expect to diminish your sugar cravings and reduce the severity of your afternoon energy slumps.

Come be part of history at a new annual event celebrating World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on Saturday, April 30th.
This class will run from 3pm until 4pm in the Botanical Gardens (in the field close to the hospital), and will also be streamed live on the internet. It will go into detail about the Tree Of Life Qigong (healing exercises (like Tai Chi) for prevention and physical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems, backaches, scaitica etc). and the 5 organs, elements, colors etc. You will also learn about pressure points that can relieve pain like headaches, scaitica, stifness, nausea etc.

The Centre Against Abuse (CAA, Registered Charity 146) will be holding their annual Arkley Side to Side 5K on Saturday, April 30th.
Starting at 6.30pm, this will begin at Black Watch Pass on North Shore Road heading to the finish line at Bermuda College.
The purpose of this event is to raise funds for CAA to provide crisis support services to male and female adult survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, and educate the community on healthy relationships.

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), along with a Committee of St. George’s Stakeholders, will be hosting the first annual Marine Expo on Sunday, May 1st.
Promising to be one of the most exciting events being planned for this year, Ordnance Island and Kings Square will be transformed into a festive setting of flags, tents and boats while featuring an array of marine-related products, services, sports, and seminars.
Running from 11am until 6pm, the Marine Expo will be a family friendly annual event that honours history, celebrates sport, embraces technology and recognizes the opportunities in Bermuda’s Maritime Environment.

Focus on an important life skill at the Healthy Relationships Seminar on Tuesday, May 10th.
This seminar is being held at The Sunshine League PLACE (Personal Learning Assistance Centre) at 27 King Street from 5.30pm until 6.45pm and is being presented by Ms. Patrice Frith Hayward; Founder and Executive Director of the Women’s V.I.P. Network.
Topics will include: what are relationships? (happy, healthy and realistic); how to communicate effectively (including boundary setting and assertiveness skills); the impact of self-esteem and body image on relationships; and texting and social media and relationships (avoiding dangers such as Revenge Porn).

See two amazing concerts with four magical performers, topped off by a special student concert at the 13th Annual Bermuda Guitar Festival from Friday, May 27th to Sunday, May 29th.
The Friday concert will feature virtuoso flamenco/classical guitarist Adam del Monte playing the music of Spain from 7.30pm. Local guitarist Steve Crawford will also be performing and will be playing favourites by Barrios & Albéniz.
At the Saturday concert from 7.30pm, funky finger style guitar legend Adam Rafferty will be playing a variety of pop, rock and blues. Local guitarist Jerremiah Smith will be playing classical favourites, jazz, and original compositions.
On Sunday, May 29th, there will be a Student Gala Concert, featuring Bermuda’s up and coming guitarists plus special guests, at 2pm. The student concert is open to the public and admission is free.
All concerts will take place at St. Andrew’s Church. Tickets cost $30 each for the Friday and Saturday concerts and they are available from Music Box, Bermuda School of Music, or online at www.pTix.bm.
