Hope you all had a great holiday weekend – do Wednesdays still count as Hump Day when it’s only a four-day week?
Here are the latest events to be added to the Bermuda summer calendar – as always don’t forget to check out the Quick Recap section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming events, including those previously covered in previous posts.
Why should weekends end on a Sunday, especially during the summer? Stretch out that weekend vibe at the return of Cambridge Beaches’ Monday Night Buffet BBQ.
From 7pm until 10pm, you can save your Monday night dinner for Tuesday as Cambridge Beaches invite you to sit under the stars and jam to DJ Uncle. If you have a boat, you are encouraged to moor up at their dock. Please note that Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa welcomes guests aged 13 years and older year-round, and the BBQ will run until October 31st.
The cost is $45, plus 17% grats, for all you can eat.

Visit three of the more popular Forts at the tip of St. George and learn their role and how they fit into the beehive of the garrison at the Defenders of Bermuda: World Heritage Fort Tour on Mondays and Thursdays.
The Fort Bus will pick up passengers on Town Square at 6pm, visiting the Alexandra Battery and Gates Fort, passing other significant landmarks and buildings before touring Fort St. Catherine. The Fort St. Catherine Tour will be done by lanterns, showing the visitor how it would have been for the soldiers to operate within the Fort during their time.
Tickets are $25 per adult, $12 for children, and available from St. George’s Visitor Information Centre, or by calling or emailing the Fort. Maximum capacity is 14 persons.

Lay back and chill out with your favourite cocktail at Sunset Reggae at Tobacco Bay Beach, every Monday and Thursday throughout the summer.

Bring a blanket, bring a picnic, and come see Shakespeare under the stars as the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society (BMDS) proudly presents Shakespeare in the Park: The Taming of the Shrew, starting on Thursday, June 23rd.
This production of Shakespeare’s lighthearted comedy will take place in Victoria Park with evening shows at 7pm on Thursday, June 23rd, Friday, June 24th, Thursday, June 30th and Friday and Saturday, July 1st and 2nd, and a 2pm matinee performance on Sunday, June 26th. No seating will be provided so you are invited to bring your own small chair or blanket.
Tickets are $30 for the evening performances and $20 for the matinee.

Young buccaneers aged between 5 and 12 are invited to a Pirate Party aboard the Deliverance, every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer.
From 11am until noon, weekly until September 29th, you can bring your Pirates aboard the Deliverance to walk the plank. This is a fun-filled party for all summer campers with snacks, games and story telling. All camps must book a week in advance.
The cost is $15 per child and all participants/camps must be registered and paid before attending.

Summer Adventure Camp 2016 will run from Monday, June 27th until Wednesday, July 27th.
From 8.30am until 3.30pm at Dellwood Middle School, the camp will combine professional teaching with outdoor adventure for the perfect combination to an enriching summer for your child. Aftercare is also available.
The cost is $120 per week.

The Yoga Centre encourage you to build your strength and flexibility at their Beginners Yoga 12-Session Course, starting on Thursday, June 30th.
Running from 5.30pm until 7pm, the course is aimed at first time beginners, those with limited experience, and those who would like a refresher. It includes an introduction to asanas (poses), breathing practices and deep relaxation. Adaptations for individual body types will enable students to develop awareness and build confidence in their personal practice. The course will be taught be a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 hrs senior teacher.

To celebrate all members who were involved with the organisation from 1952 through 2016, The Bermuda Junior Chamber (Jaycees) will hold a Reunion Dinner on Saturday, July 2nd.
Taking place at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Paget, the fun starts at 7pm with a reception, followed by a buffet dinner. It promises to be an evening full of memories, an exchange of stories of the Jaycee history in Bermuda, fellowship, and camaraderie.

Under the distinguished patronage of the Hon. Paula A. Cox, C.B.E., J.P., and Mr. Germain Nkeuleu, the Berkeley Educational Society is proud to present its 3rd Annual Summer Jazz Jam on Saturday, July 2nd.
This will be held on the Upper Courtyard of the Berkeley Institute from 7pm, and will be hosted by the inimitable Elton Richardson. Featured performers include the Chris Darrell Trio, Dayton Wharton, Francine Rollins, The Unit (John Lee), Connie Hill, Phiemma Caisey, Leviticus, John Woolridge with Kiana Madeiros and N’Kosi Hollis. Intriguingly, Mrs. Florenz Maxwell will begin the evening with a story. Funds derived from the Third Annual Summer Jazz Jam will benefit the David Austin Wilson Memorial Award and the Austin Randolph Thomas Scholarship.

“Eat ’em to Beat ’em” is the advice being given to us to deal with the pesky and destructive Lionfish which have invaded our reefs and are harming the ecosystem. That means that it’s time to dust off those spears and mark your calendars for the 6th Annual Groundswell Lionfish Tournament, taking place at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) on Saturday, July 16th.
The tournament starts at sun up and all boats must be at the BIOS dock for the 3pm weigh-in.
From 2.30pm, all are invited to party-with-a-purpose at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), to enjoy a family-friendly afternoon of live music, DJs, lionfish tasting, a Gosling’s bar, lionfish handling, kids arts and crafts, and more, until 7.30pm.

Promising another lively and thought-provoking evening, PechaKucha Bermuda is hosting its 16th Edition on Thursday, August 18th.
From 6pm until 9.30pm at Chewstick, different presenters will speak on a subject they are passionate about.
PechaKucha Bermuda Nights are a simple, effective and entertaining way of telling a story or idea. Each speaker shows 20 images to accompany their presentation, each image the speaker can only speak for 20 seconds.
Since there is no pausing or going back, speakers have no choice but to keep to their allotted time. Following each presentation is a 3 minute 20 second question and answer session where the audience has the opportunity to ask the presenter questions.
There is no cover charge but donations will be accepted.
