Hope you’re all making the most of the summer while it’s still here – if you need some more inspiration, then here’s your latest island events update from paradise!

Rum Bum Beach Bar at Horseshoe Bay Beach invite you to celebrate Thursday to Sunday with them at their series of BBQs with Live Entertainment this summer.
The Simons Brothers, playing on Thursdays from 8pm until late, are a young local band that play reggae, soul and top 40.
On Fridays from 8pm until late, Working Title will be playing covers of popular songs and Top 40.
Conscious Bermuda, performing from 8pm until late on Saturdays, play reggae, including old skool reggae.
Finally, Sunday Funday will be a summer beach party, featuring frozen drinks all day, sunset happy hour from 5pm until 8pm, and live entertainment, courtesy of a DJ from 5pm.
On each of the nights, there will also be a BBQ from 6pm until 10pm – a copy of the a la carte menu can be viewed here.
There is no cover charge and these will run weekly until mid-September.

Enjoy some family-friendly fun, featuring movies, games, and other fun activities, on many Friday nights throughout the summer, at the Corporation of St. George’s UNESCO Street Festival, which has added some new dates to their lineup!
Games Night will run from 6.30pm until 10pm on August 26th, and will include games for all ages, including ping pong, X-Box, Playstation games, and much more.
Movie Night will be after sunset on September 2nd, while Music Nights will include Line Dancing on August 12th and DJ Music on August 19th, both running from 6.30pm until 10pm.
Food vendors will be on hand to sell refreshments and you are invited to bring your chair.

Students of all ages from Kindergarten to College are invited to A.F Smith’s 3rd Annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 13th.
From 11.30am until 4.30pm, there’ll be food stalls, games, face painting, fun castles, music, entertainment and so much more. Dunk-A-Teacher for $1 and all proceeds will go towards helping Chewstick to give the youth a place to showcase talent again.
As well as loads of prize giveaways, you can also shop their store for great back to school savings.

You are promised nothing but the best in Old School Reggae, including dancehall, culture, lover’s rock and everything else, at the Old School Reggae Cruise: Part 4 on Saturday, August 13th.
From 9pm aboard Calico Jack’s Pirate Ship, music will be provided by Starlight, Black Star, Supatone and Stalwart, with some special guest artists on board and a cash bar.
Boarding will begin at Albuoy’s Point at 8.30pm, returning by midnight, with early boarding at Dockyard from 7pm, returning at around 1am.
Tickets are $35 and available from event DJs.

The August edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be on Sunday, August 21st in the usual location of the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI.
Genius will be showing at 3pm. This is a stirring drama, starring Colin Firth, Jude Law and Nicole Kidman.
This will be followed at 5.15pm by Olympic Pride, American Prejudice, a documentary about African American athletes at the 1936 Olympic Games.

The Robin Hood Football men and Netball ladies invite you to get merry with them on their Season Kickoff Booze Cruise on Friday, August 26th.
The cruise will be aboard the Elizabeth, which will depart Albuoy’s Point at 7.45pm, returning at 11pm. Pre-party happy hour food will also be available at the Robin Hood beforehand from 5pm.

Our oceans are in crisis. Human impacts on wild dolphins and whales are increasing. Understanding those impacts and the needs of wild cetaceans is crucial to their survival. Learn more about this important topic as BUEI Talks and Dolphin Quest present The Science of Saving Cetaceans on Tuesday, August 30th.
Meet world renowned dolphin expert Randall Wells, PhD and discover how wild dolphins have been affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Learn how Bermuda’s deep-diving dolphins echolocate to find prey and how they compare to other incredible deep-diving toothed whales from marine mammal biologist Frants Jensen. Hear how these leading marine mammal biologists and their collaborators are unlocking the secrets of dolphin and whale behaviour and physiology and why this is critical to cetacean conservation.
The lecture will start in the Tradewinds Auditorium at 7.30pm on each evening. Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar with Sushi Happy Hour prices on selected sushi and drinks available until 6.30pm. The full menu will be available from 6pm. From 6pm until 8pm at Bermuda Society of Arts, James will discuss all the best ways to create a great watercolour masterpiece.

Artists of all levels are invited to brush up on your skills at a Watercolour Workshop with James TooGood on Saturday and Sunday, September 10th and 11th.
Running from 10am until 4pm at Bermuda Society of Arts each day, this 2-day weekend workshop will cover linear and aerial perspective, how to capture a feeling of light, ways to paint clouds and water, among other interest of the participants.
