I for one refuse to accept that summer is over quite yet, but I’m sad to say that some of the seasonal activities are already finishing up. Next week is the LAST Harbour Nights of the season, for example! On the bright side, when the temperature start cooling down, the events calendar really starts to heat up. Check out the latest events to be added to the Bermuda calendar below:

There are two new exhibits opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall on Friday, August 26th.
The show entitled Fresh Emerging Artists will be displayed in the Onions Gallery. BSoA invited 7 artists, who you may not be to familiar with to display current works of various mediums. Their Emerging Artists show is always inspiring and fresh.
In the Edinburgh Gallery, BSoA presents Fashion Forward, a prelude exhibition to their popular Fashion Collective show that will be held on November 3rd 2016. Look forward to seeing the art of fashion displayed from the designers themselves.
The grand opening of this show will be from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, August 26th.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibits will run until Tuesday, September 13th. BSoA is the oldest gallery in Bermuda, changing shows every 3 weeks and housing a great gift shop with works from local artists.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

In celebration of Jamaica’s 54th Year of Independence and Team Jamaica’s Rio Olympics success, the Jamaican Association of Bermuda (JAB) presents its Independence and Rio Gold Cruise on Friday, August 26th.
The Calico Jack will start boarding from 9.30pm at Albuoy’s Point for a 10pm departure. From then until 2am, you can enjoy a meal, a cash bar, and the great musical lineup of Magnum Force, AfterDark Sound, Ranger Force, DJ Fire Whizz and Surpryze. while celebrating the success of team Jamaica – including Usain Bolt, Elaine Thompson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Omar McLeod and many more.

There are two opportunities to see some of Bermuda’s most talented dancers in action at the DanceSations’ Annual Summer Dance Recital on Saturday, August 27th.
There will be two shows, at 2pm and 7pm, at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall. Both shows will be jam-packed with exciting dances and energy. Dancers of all ages will grace the stage, with dance genres such as ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop.

As he prepares to take his game to the next level at The Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy, all ages and levels are welcome to come and celebrate with Daniel Phillips at Game, Set and Match It! a Grass Roots Tennis-a-thon Exhibition and Potluck Fundraiser on Sunday, August 28th.
From 8am until 8pm at Admiralty House, tennis pros Sam Maybury, Brent Smith, Gavin Manders, Ashley Brooks, Jovan Whitter, Romar Douglas, together with some surprise Bermuda sports personalities, will be giving free clinics and hosting fun games all day.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will be screening two films at the Bermuda Folklife Documentary Series on Thursday, September 1st.
Traditional Bermuda Boat Building will be screened at 6pm. This 49 minute long episode will feature Anson Nash, Jane Downing, Warren “Mickey” Foggo, and Steve Hollis, and focuses on the traditional skills involved with the design and construction of a traditional Bermuda wooden boat.
This will be followed by Bermuda’s Shipwrecks at 7.15pm. This 59 minute long episode will feature Billy McCallan, Bill Gillies, Nick Hutchings, Elena Strong, Dr. Philippe Max Rouja and Jane Downing, and focuses on the divers, restores, academics, and former treasure-hunters involved with the discovery, salvage and study of Bermuda’s shipwrecks.
Both screening will take place at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

Masterworks invite you to the opening of Jacqueline Murray-Hall and Miles Murray-Hall’s joint exhibition Two Generations on Friday, September 2nd.
Showcased in the Rick Faries Gallery, this is a joint exhibition by a mother and son, and the subject matter is both animal still life and seascapes.
The opening reception will be from 5.30pm until 7pm and the exhibit will run until September 28th.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 11am until 4.30pm on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays. General admission is $5, or free for members and children under 12.

What a better way to end Summer ’16 and kick off your Labour Day holiday than spending an afternoon of skate, drinks, and fun with your favourite roller girls at Bermuda Roller Derby’s Summer Time Skate on Sunday, September 4th?
From 4pm until 8pm, Gombeys Bar and Restaurant has graciously allowed access to their skating rink. Don’t have skates? They’ll have a few pairs at the rink for you to rent.
This event is free and open to all, and particularly welcomes those interested in joining Roller Derby or who enjoy skating.

The resilient movement starts with you as Bermudian author Crystal Holdipp will be having a Book Talk and Signing on Friday, September 9th.
From 1pm until 2pm at Bermuda Society of Arts, this event will mark the release of Crystal’s third book, entitled Resilient: Rise Above The Ashes. Resilient is a book of poems, reflections, scripture meditations, prayers and declarations to empower, educate and inspire persons of all ages.
Admission is free and Resilient books will be on sale for $15 dollars each.

With their motto, Developing Strong Minds through Strong Bodies, Tumble Tots Bermuda start their new Fall Term at Bermuda High School for Girls on Saturday, September 10th.
Tumble Tots and Parent and Tots offers children and parents fun, excitement and challenge in a safe, secure and caring environment. The age-appropriate equipment allows the younger children to explore freely, while simply having basic pattern and structure. The children are encouraged to experiment on the balance beam, crawl through the tunnels, build structures with foam blocks, climb on the equipment, practice rolling, hopping and jumping on the mats. Parent interaction is key as this offers special focused quality time with the child, without everyday distractions.
Parents and Tots is for little ones from walking age up until 3 years old. Classes are half an hour long with slots between 9am and 10.30am.
Tumble Tots is for 3 and 4 year olds. Classes are 45 minutes long from 11am
For Parents and Tots, the cost is $160 for the 12 weeks of Term 1 and $135 for the 10 weeks of Terms 2 and 3. For Tumble Tots, the cost is $175 for the 12 weeks of Term 1 and $150 for the 10 weeks of Terms 2 and 3.
