This exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports and will run until Thursday, December 15th.
BNG also invite you to join them as they celebrate youth creativity in the annual Student Art Exhibition. This year’s theme is Memories of the Present, which was inspired by the Bermuda Biennial exhibition on the same theme. Students were asked to illustrate images of objects and/ or people that they considered important in their lives today. Students were asked to consider: Why are these objects and/or people important to them? For more information on this exhibit, contact Ms. Dany Pen at education@bng.bm or 295-9428. There are three new exhibits opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall on Friday, December 9th.
BSoA Members’ Winter Show will be showcased in the Onions and Edinburgh Galleries. The Members’ Winter Show consists of new works from their member artists in different mediums.
Pieces of Me by Lee Greene will be exhibited in Studio A. After 25 years in the corporate world, Lee Greene felt unfulfilled. Through self-reflection, Lee realized that he had been ignoring his artistic self for far too long. It was at that “Aha” moment that his early love of art was reawakened. From that day forward, he had not stopped pouring himself into his art. The result is the birth of 15 works whose medium is water-based, black acrylic marker on canvas. These canvases depict famous people in history. These are people who have made a difference in the world, either through their contribution to humanity or their musical talent. They are famous people whom he admires and with whom he connects. They possess qualities that he values and respects, qualities that he sees within himself – hence the name “Pieces of Me”. Amongst his collection you will find the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Nina Simone, to name a few. Having no formal training or technique, Lee’s artistic expression is, in fact, a reflection of his life. His approach is to extract and create bold, black and white forms in a minimalistic way. Through simplicity comes great beauty.
Finally. in Studio B, Live by Kochakorn & Khwan is an exhibition consisting of works created by two artists each using oils creating natural scenes.
The grand opening will be from 5pm until 7pm at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA), City Hall.
Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibit will run until Wednesday, January 4th.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.
