Ball hockey teams from around the world are to face off in Bermuda when the island hosts the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation’s (ISBHF) World Masters Championship from Tuesday, September 25th until Sunday, September 30th.
Over 600 hockey players, coaches and support staff from 17 North American and European teams in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions will compete for a chance at a Gold Medal. This promises to be one of the biggest ISBHF tournaments on the calendar, with the very best international teams involved.
The tournament, which begun yesterday at Pembroke Community Center (PCC), is packed with almost 10 games per day starting Wednesday, September 26th. The first games begins at 9:15am on most days, and the last game starts at 9:45pm on most nights. The knockout rounds are being held on Saturday with the Medal games on Sunday.
The majority of the tournament will be held at PCC and there is limited car parking available at Admiralty Park. Residents are encouraged to attend on their bikes as there will be unlimited bike parking available at PCC.
A second rink is located in Dockyard, within the former Oracle base camp. The games at the Dockyard rink are between 10am and 12:30 with each team playing a minimum of one game at the Dockyard location. If games are rained out at PCC, the Dockyard rink will see a significant increase in action.
The Bermuda Masters team has been training and practicing hard and needs the island’s support! The scheduled Bermuda games are as follows (weather permitting); Tuesday Sept. 25 at 5:15pm vs. Czech Republic, Wednesday Sept. 26 at 8:30pm vs. Italy, Thursday Sept. 27 at 2:15pm vs. USA, Friday morning Sept. 28 at 10:00am (Dockyard rink) vs. Canada and Friday evening Sept. 28 at 7:15pm vs. Team Slovakia.
