Bermuda National Gallery Early Years Programme and the Bermuda National Library Youth Services are collaborating to host the community event: Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood on Thursday, November 1st.

All nurseries, preschools and families with children between the ages of 2 and 4, are invited to join for an Early Years Session with singing and dancing. This event is inspired by the book by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell, and there will be a special reading of the book “Maybe Something Beautiful” by Mrs. Kristin Burt, BNG Honorary Patron of Art Education.

The event is from Noon until 1pm on the City Hall Front Lawn.

Admission is free. All registered school groups will receive an art & literacy gift package from BNG and BNL.

The Queen’s University Alumni Association warmly invites all alumni and friends in Bermuda to join them for Queen’s University Alumni Reception on Thursday, November 1st.

From 5:30pm until 7pm at Hamilton Princess Hotel, they will be rekindling the tricolour spirit in Bermuda. Partake in a conversation with Queen’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Daniel R. Woolf, Artsci’80, who is currently in the final year of his second five-year term as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen’s University. The past 10 years at Queen’s University have been a period of evolution. Join Principal Woolf as he looks back on his career and to the future of Queen’s as a leading institution for research, scholarship, and student experience.

Admission is free, and all are welcome including alumni, parents of alumni and supporters of the university.

A new show is opening at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art on Friday, November 2nd.

Bermuda in Bloom, a solo exhibition of paintings by Jaya Perrier will be on display in the Rick Faries Gallery.

Jaya Perrier enjoys painting anything that allows her to play with colours and the various forms of light and shadows. Spring time in Bermuda is a particular favourite, because of the vibrancy of gorgeous gardens and breathtaking sunsets. With her show, “Bermuda in Bloom”, Jaya captures the bounty of Bermuda’s flora with vibrant colour seen across familiar scenes. Each brush stroke has a story to tell.

The opening reception will be from 5:30pm until 7:30pm and the show will run until Wednesday, November 28th.

Admission to the Opening Reception is free, but donations are welcome.

Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and the gallery is temporarily closed on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays.  General admission is $5, or free for members and children under 12.

An event to shine light on the unique dynamics of family businesses, It’s A Family Affair, will be held at Gosling’s Wine Cellar on Friday, November 2nd.

Running from 5:30pm until 8:30pm, this evening promises to be a fun and fascinating, as you explore different topics to help enhance your business, enjoy frank discussion, shared experiences and tips for success. The evening will feature international guest speaker Ted Knowles of Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business, as well as local panelists; Zach Moniz of Lindo’s Group of Companies, Denise Riviere of Bull’s Head Car Wash, Charles Gosling of Gosling’s Limited and Irvin Hendrickson of Hendy’s Laundromat, who will also share their insights on owning a family business.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

Looking for that great outfit for the holidays? Look no further as the Bermuda Red Cross Thrift Shop are holding their annual Evening Wear Sale on Saturday, November 3rd.

From 8:30am until 1pm at the Thrift Shop on Berry Hill Road, you can
find great bargains on second-hand garments.

The Bermuda Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents its 19th Annual Children’s Reading Festival on Saturday, November 3rd.

This will take place from 11am until 4pm at Victoria Park, where children from infants to P6 can enjoy an afternoon filled with books, fun, giveaways, storytelling, and entertainment.

The Evangelical Church of Bermuda invites you to Kids Fest on Saturday, November 3rd.

From 1pm until 4pm, on the church field (next to Modern Mart in Paget) families can enjoy this fun, fall event with food, games, candy, prizes, shows, rides and bouncy castles.

All are invited to the town of St. George’s for the Remembrance Services at St. Peter’s Church on Sundays, November 4th and November 11th.

Two events will be happening on Sunday, November 4th; The Wreath Laying Ceremony at 10:30am, followed by the Holy Eucharist Service for ‘All Saints Sunday’ at 11am.

On Sunday, November 11th a Remembrance Day Service will take place at 11am, followed by Ringing of the Church Bell at 3pm.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda presents the Wacky Walk on Sunday, November 4th.

Starting at 1:45pm, the walk will begin at the City Hall steps and end at Gorham’s where there will be music, line dancing, bouncy castle, snacks and fun games. Bring the kids, family, co-workers and friends. Halloween costumes and mismatched clothes are welcome, wear something “wacky” and join in!

There will also be a Wacky Train that will take “Wacky Walkers” from Gorham’s back to City Hall.

There is a minimum donation of $5 per person with all proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Gardening Club of Bermuda will host a Presentation on their Skills Development Program on Wednesday, November 7th.

This will be from 6pm until 7pm at the Botanical Garden’s Horticultural Hall, where a presentation will be given by Roger Parris, Supervisory Foreman of the Department of Parks, on the innovative Skills Development Program curriculum for horticultural students in Bermuda and their recent learning trip to Bournemouth in the UK.

Admission is free and all are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.

Looking for the best bargains, the Peace Lutheran Church are hosting a Car Boot Sale this month on Saturday, November 10th.

From 9am, there will be something for everyone; clothes, shoes, toys, books, DVDs,CDs, gifts, plants and lots of ideas for Christmas gifts. Hot dogs and coffee will also be available so you won’t go hungry while shopping.

Mark your calendars as there will be another Car Boot Sale on November 17th, the event is so popular, that this month there will be two!

The Berkeley Educational Society invites you to join former students, family and friends for an evening of fun and camaraderie at The Berkeley Institute Alumni Quiz Night on Saturday, November 10th. **UPDATE: Postponed until further notice**

From 6pm until 9pm within the school’s Lower Atrium, participants will form teams of 6, giving themselves creative names and answering several rounds of questions with the aim of winning overall team honours and prizes.

The cost is $120 per team, and includes a snack, pizza slice, soft drink, and wine. This event is for adults only. Proceeds will go to The Berkeley Educational Society and The Berkeley Alumni Association.

The November edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Au Revoir Là-Haut (See you up there) on Tuesday, November 13th.

Screening in the BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium at 8pm, this French Crime/Drama with English subtitles is from Director Albert Dupontel, starring Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Albert Dupontel, Laurent Lafitte.

“November 1919. Two survivors of the trenches, one genius draftsman, the other modest accountant, decide to mount a scam to the war memorials. In crazy France, the company will be as dangerous as spectacular …” Running time is 1h 57min.

The cost is $7 for BUEI/AF members and students, or $12 for non-members. All members of the public are welcome!

In partnership with Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation invites you to “Upgrade to SheEO” at the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Conference on Friday, November 16th.

Starting at 8:30am at Rosewood Tucker’s Point, the day-long event is intended to help inspire, empower and elevate women. The conference will feature international guest speakers; Stacey Ferreira, CEO of Forge, and Shelly Bell, founder of Black Girl Ventures Foundations, along with eight local speakers.

Tickets are $50 for the Early Bird Special (until November 2nd), and $75 thereafter. The cost includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch, giveaways and door prizes.

Promising an exiting game for spectators, come out and show your support for the island when Bermuda vs El Salvador in the Concacaf Nations League Qualifier on Friday, November 16th.

Gates open at 6pm at National Sports Centre, with kickoff time at 8pm.

The cost of this event is $25 for General Admission and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under. VIP tickets are available for $50. Parking is $10

Bermuda Boxing Federation and Pulse Entertainment Presents: Redemption Family Fight Night, on Friday, November 23rd.

From 6pm until 9pm at Fairmont Southampton, the night will feature Pro Weigh-In and Face-off between Nikki Bascome and David Martinez, as well as local boxing bouts.

Tickets cost $15 for general admission or $5 for children under 15, and are now on sale at www.Ptix.bm. Admission is FREE for Redemption VIP Ticket Holders, and only $10 for Redemption General Ticket Holders.

The Redemption Fight Night: An IBA International Welterweight Title Fight will take place on Friday, November 24th.

This will be held from 7pm until 11pm at Fairmont Southampton, featuring Nikki “Nifty” Bascome and Bermuda’s best youth, amateur and elite fighters.

The second annual Designed For Impact Women’s Conference will be held on Friday, November 30th, followed by an evening Women’s Marketplace on Saturday, December 1st.

The all-day conference starts at 9am at Fairmont Southampton, where you can join keynote speakers, women board members, women executive coaches and facilitators to explore the only constant in our lives – change!

BUEI and The Gilbert and Sullivan Society are proud to be bringing the 2018-2019 season of the Metropolitan Opera’s The Met: Live in HD series to Bermuda (on film) in glorious HD.

The season will be opening with a monumental production of Verdi’s Aida, starring soprano Anna Netrebko in the title role, on Saturday, January 12th.

The season will continue as follows: Samson et Dalila (Camille Saint-Saëns): Saturday, February 2nd; La Fanciulla del West (Giacomo Puccini): Saturday, February 9th; Marnie (Nico Muhly/Libretto Nicholas Wright): Saturday, March 2nd; La Traviata (Giuseppe Verdi): Saturday, March 16; Adriana Lecouvreur (Francesco Cilea): Sunday, April 7th; Carmen (Georges Bizet): Sunday, May 5th; La Fille du Régiment (Gaetano Donizetti): Saturday, May 18th; Die Walküre (Richard Wagner): Saturday, June 1st

All performances start at 5pm within BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront will provide a cash bar for pre-performance and interval drinks, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served during intermissions.
