The Vernon Temple Church, Creative Arts Ministry (Dance Ministry) is hosting a Community Praise & Worship Outreach Hour of Power on Saturday, January 19th.

The event starts at 6:30pm at the Ranger Sports Club parking lot. There will be singing, prayer, scripture and performances by the Vernon Temple Creative Arts Ministry and Hermin’s Faith (mime). Complimentary soup & rolls will be served to those in attendance, and all are invited to come out and receive a blessing from God.

This is a free event. (Rain date Sunday, January 20th at 4:30 pm).

BUEI Screens Presents: The Children Act on Sunday, January 20th.

Smart, elegant, and deeply moving, stars two-time Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson in a riveting performance as Fiona Maye, a British High Court judge who, in the midst of a marital crisis, must rule on a life-changing legal case concerning the survival of a teenage boy. At issue whether to order a blood transfusion on the boy, a Jehovah’s Witness who, just months short of his eighteenth birthday, is refusing on religious grounds the procedure that would save his life. Adapted by Ian McEwan from his own novel, and directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal; Iris), The Children Act is a deeply affecting portrait of strength, devotion, and love, with the incomparable Emma Thompson giving one of the very best performances of her career. The film start at 5:15pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.  Harbourfront opens for dinner at 6pm and ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner at the Harbourfront (food only) before or after the film. The Women’s A.C.T, in collaboration with Bermuda Move Forward, are hosting the 2019 International Women’s March with a Community Anniversary Gathering on Monday, January 21st.

The event starts at noon at Par La Vile Park and will include speeches by: Laurie Shiell from Centre Against Abuse, Dany Pen from Women’s A.C.T, and Robyn Swan from Move Bermuda Forward.

The discussion will be about our sisters in prison, survivors and victims of sex trafficking, sexual assault, domestic violence, and those who are stuck and struggling in the system. #FlawsinLaws #RightsforWomen #ProtectionforWomen

Join Friends of Hospice to celebrate and remember your loves ones who have passed as they present their 3rd Annual Memorial Moon Walk on Monday, January 21st.

Registration begins at 6pm at Chaplin Bay, and the walk starts at 6:30pm.

The cost is $15 per walker. All proceeds will go towards Agape House.

BUEI Films & BEST Presents: BLUE on Wednesday, January 23rd.

BLUE takes viewers on a provocative journey into the ocean realm. Witnessing a critical moment in time when the marine world is on a precipice. Featuring passionate advocates for ocean preservation, BLUE takes us into their world where the story of our changing ocean is unfolding. Meet those who are defending habitats, campaigning for smarter fishing, combating marine pollution and fighting for the protection of keystone species. This feature documentary comes at a time when we are making critical decisions that will decide the legacy we leave for generations to come. BUEI Talks Presents: Bermuda’s Elegant Terns, Past, Present & Future with Dr. David Wingate on Monday, January 28th.

Dr. Wingate has been studying the Terns of Bermuda for over 60 years. In 2003, the local nesting population of Common Tern was nearly wiped out by Hurricane Fabian and is now threatened with extinction. As with the Cahow, Dr. Wingate is working hard to prevent this from happening. Learn about the different Tern species seen in Bermuda, efforts to understand, conserve and protect these beautiful birds, and last summer’s exciting and historic nesting that brings new hope for the future.

Strykz Bowling Lounge presents a SuperBowl Party hosted by Twin Starr and G Money on Sunday, February 3rd.

The party starts at 11am at their premises on Southside Road in St.David’s, where you can enjoy Beer Buckets while watching the game on 2x8ft projection screens and 10 LED TV’s. An After Party will follow, until 3am.

The Church Girls’ and Boys Brigade invite you to their Valentines Fair on Saturday, February 9th.

This will be held from 10am until 4pm at the Christian Education Centre, where a variety of stalls will be set-up to sell baked goods, books, CDs & DVDs, “nearly new” goods, plants, toys and a White Elephant sale.

Lunch will be offered with the usual delicious homemade soups & rolls, chilli, hotdogs, codfish balls and chicken wingettes.

The Car Wash is $20 for small and regular sized cars and $25 for large cars and vans.

The Bermuda Gymnastics Association’s February Break Camp is just around the corner and will run from Monday, February 11th until Friday, February 15th.

Kids between the ages of 4 and 12 years can join the camp for a Valentines themed-week, loaded with fun activities. In addition to their trampolines and foam pit, the Gymnastics Association are really excited to offer Parkour Afternoons. Everyday campers will get new obstacle challenges based on the programming or dynamics of Parkour.

The cost is $305 for the full week, for Full Days: 9am-4pm (Early drop off (8:30am) and late pick-up (5:30pm) included).
The cost is $205 for the week, for Half Days: Morning: 9am -12:30 pm, Afternoon: 12:30 – 4pm.

Experience the music of Tino Sax and the D.I.A. Band as they deliver their signature blend of smooth jazz and neo-soul at Soul Session Saturday on Saturday, February 16th.

From 8pm until 10:30pm at the Blue Waters Anglers Club, this band will take you on a musical journey you’re sure to love, with music influenced by the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Hosted by Rowdy Piper, this show is designed to engage you, get you up and moving and leave you wanting more. The event opens with a Happy Hour from 8pm until 9pm.

The Leopards’ Club invite you to join them at A Tribute to the late Ira Phillip and Professor Tony Martin on Thursday, February 21st.

This will be held from 6pm until 8:30pm at the Leopards’ Club, where Journalist, historian and social commentator, Ira Philip will be remembered in a film recorded in 2008 and never shown before, along with a 1998 public lecture given by leading Marcus Garvey scholar, the late Professor Tony Martin who came here in 1998. This will be followed by The Hon. Walton Brown JP.M.P , colwyn burchall and Dr. Radall Tankard.

The event is organised by Atlantic Publishing House and The Leopards’ Club. The first “Triumph of the Spirit Award” will be presented to The Hon. Ottiwell Simmons J.P.

The cost of admission is $10 or $15 with soup and roll, tickets can be purchased at the door.

Join in walking for all people living with cancer at P.A.L.S. 31st Annual Family Fun Walk & Run on Sunday, February 24th.

Start time is 8:30am at P.A.L.S Headquaters on Point Finger Road, from which point you can choose to walk or run 3K, 5K, or 10K, finishing at the same location. All walkers should collect sponsors for the chance to win prizes. The participant with the highest sponsorship will win a prize and all registrants with sponsorship of over $250 will be entered into a draw for a prize.

Feel the excitement as Bermuda hosts the MS Amlin World Triathlon 2019 Series, an international sporting event attracting the world’s best athletes, on Saturday, April 27th.

Starting at 7am on Front Street, you can be within arms reach of elite sports professionals as they swim, bike and run through the streets of Hamilton. Special spectator viewing areas will be set up and Hamilton restaurants will host Triathlon events. Gather your friends and family and decide your viewing point early!
