If you are interested in learning more about the IMPACT Mentoring Academy (IMA), they are hosting an Open House on Wednesday, January 30th and Friday, January 31st.
This will be held from 8:30am until 10:30am, on both days, at their premises on Berkeley Road. During the open house, you and your child will be able to participate in their morning routine, receive a tour of the school and learn what makes IMA different.

Calling all ladies! It’s that time again, to celebrate and create at BNL’s 5th Annual Pre-Valentines Ladies Night: Strokes in the City with Alshante Foggo on Thursday, February 7th.
This will take place from 5:30pm until 9pm at the Bermuda National Library, where you can create a masterpiece under the direction of the featured artist and also shop from vendors Nawty Kitty Bermuda and Bermuda Soap Works, who will be on-site, selling Valentine’s goodies. This event is for ladies only and you must be at least 18 years to attend.
Light refreshments will be served and there will be door prizes.
Tickets are $45 for members, $55 for non-members, and are on sale at the Library.

Learn about two leading Canadian Summer Camps – Camp Onondaga and Camp Kandalore – at the Canadian Summer Camp Information Session on Thursday, February 7th.
From 6pm until 8pm at Saltus Alumni Hall, interested families can see a presentation on the camps and ask the director any questions they might have.
Both camps are located in Minden, Ontario (2.5 hours north of Toronto), and are extremely well-established. They offer children a truly Canadian summer camp experience with a huge variety of activities on land and water. The camps welcome boys and girls between to the ages of 6 and 17, for two and four week sessions in July and August each summer.

PechaKucha Bermuda Vol. 25 will be held at Warwick Workmens Club on Thursday, February 7th.
Doors open at 6pm, and starting at 6:30pm you can enjoy a series of short, dynamic, and powerful presentations on a range of topics. They will have a full lineup of presenters, with those confirmed including: Dany Pen, Jasen Moniz, Tania Stafford, Danice Mapp, Sophia Cannonier, Alex Potts, Nina London & Bill Rosser.
Entry is free. Warwick Workmens Club Bar and Four Star Restaurant will be open. You are encouraged to bring your own reusables (cups, plates, utensils) to help reduce plastic waste.

For one night only, the Bermuda Arts Centre will hold their annual 6×6 Show as a fundraiser at Gallery One Seventeen on Friday, February 8th.
From 5:30pm until 7pm at the gallery on Front Street, you can shop for the Art Deal of The Year. Shop from a variety of works in all media which have been donated by local artists . All paintings are 6″x6″ and cost $66 each. Paintings which are purchased are removed right from the wall and go out the door with you. Get there early to own a painting by one of Bermuda’s leading artists at an unbelievable price.

The Bermuda National Trust’s Children’s Nature Walk will be held on Thursday, February 14th.
The walks starts at 9:30am at Spittal Pond – one of Bermuda’s most spectacular open spaces covering 64-acres of wetlands along South Shore. It is Bermuda’s largest and most important bird sanctuary and serves a diversity of habitats and an amazing variety of birds, especially during the migration seasons.
Children and guardians will have the opportunity to experience nature first hand. They will be taken along the route by the Trust’s enthusiastic guides, stopping at points of interest to learn about biodiversity, habitats, history, geology and conservation from the island’s leading environmental and cultural experts.

Swan’s Running Club invites you to take on the challenge and celebrate local running legends by participating in the Legends Race Series.
The aim of the series is to celebrate Bermuda’s race legends and to keep their contribution to running alive. There are four events that are part of this series and participants must participate in a minimum of three of the four races.
The series starts with the Ed Sherlock 10k Run, on Sunday, February 17th. Start time is 8:30am at Southampton Rangers Club.
The Ray Swan Flat 8k will take place on Sunday, March 24th. Start time is 8:30am at West Pembroke School.
The Ludwig Cann 10k will take place on Sunday, April 7th. Start time is 8:30am at Astwood Park.
The “Sir” Stanley Burgess 5k will take place on Sunday, May 5th. Start time is 8:30am at the Police Recreation Club.
Participants accrue points for each race. The best 3 out of 4 races are used for final standings and earns you a Legends T-Shirt, medal and entry into all draw prizes. Best Overall Male and Female will receive the Legends Trophy and $500 prize. The winners of each Age Category will also receive trophies, these categories include:
20 – 39 = Open
40+ = Masters
50+ = Seniors
60+ = Veterans
70+ = Legends
The Overall Male/Female Legend Series Winner is not eligible for the Age Group series.
Age group awards are based on ones age as of February 17th of the race year (2019).

Based on Henry James’s 1888 novella and set in the late 19th Century, The Aspern Papers tells of an ambitious American editor (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) obsessed with the late Romantic poet Jeffrey Aspern. Determined to obtain the letters Aspern wrote to his lover and muse Juliana (Academy Award Winner Vanessa Redgrave) years earlier, the editor travels to Venice and meets the suspicious elderly woman along with her quiet niece (Joley Richardson) in their grand but dilapidated palazzo. Assuming a false identity and initially concealing his true intentions, the editor ultimately charms the niece into helping him with his obsession. But when the niece presents him with a condition he can’t accept, the future of the papers and the mysteries they contain hang in the balance.

Local whale researcher and filmmaker Andrew Stevenson will premier his latest production The Secret Lives of the Humpbacks at The Specialty Cinema, on Wednesday, February 20th.
There will be two showings, the first starting at 5:30pm and the second at 7:30pm. This is a 43-minute family-friendly documentary that brings awareness, educates and inspires. It provides a unique window into the lifecycle of the humpback whales and their mid-ocean migration. The beauty of Bermuda and its marine life take center stage in this film, which highlights the importance of protecting the environment and its treasures. Knowledge brings power to the viewer to build a legacy for future generations.

Coral Beach & Tennis Club is pleased to announce it will host the 2019 Bermuda Breeze Tennis Championships, a prestigious United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned national championship tournament, from Monday, April 15th, to Sunday, April 21st.
The tournament will run on each of these days from 8:30am until 8:30pm.
The USTA Adult National Category II Tennis Championships tournament is designed for players over the age of 40, playing in six age groups. Players registered with the USTA are eligible to compete in the following age groups: 40s, 50s, 55s, 60s, 65s and 70s in men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
The cost of registration is $91.88 for first Singles, $70.38 for first Doubles, $54.25 for additional Doubles. Maximum fee charged per player is $170 plus the processing fees for the number of events you select. A player can participate in a maximum of three events.
