Can you believe that January is over already!? Good news is the year’s off to a great start with lots of exciting events on the calendar to keep you busy this winter. Just keep reading to see all of latest ones that have been added since last week. Are you a new or aspiring business owner hoping to take advantage of Government’s payroll tax relief? The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) invites you to join them for a free 60-Minute Lunch & Learn Session on EEZ & New Entrepreneur Payroll Tax Concessions on Wednesday, January 29th.
From 12:30pm until 1:30pm in the BEDC Training Room, you can learn how to access these cost saving programmes and how to use them to support your business.

This year the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is excited to bring you a diverse range of cooperative business development opportunities – inclusive of networking, info sessions and power workshops – culminating with a Co-op Pitch Competition on Wednesday, March 11th.
Those who want to get involved must attend the BEDC Co-op Pitch Info Session on Wednesday, January 29th, from 6pm until 7pm in the BEDC Training Room. Join for a brief overview of the BEDC Cooperative Pitch Competition and the upcoming Co-op Power Workshops. The Wine Down Wednesday Co-op Pitch Info Session will be held on February 5th, from 5pm until 9pm at Taste One Four One. There you can mingle, ask questions, and get inspired as you network with the growing number of young people connecting through cooperative entrepreneurship in Bermuda. The Co-op Power Part 3 Workshop will be held on Wednesdays February 12th, 19th & 26th, in the BEDC Training Room from 6pm until 8:30pm. Participate in this immersive learning opportunity to learn the foundations of a co-op; how a co-op differs from a traditional business; the benefits of starting a co-op and community impact opportunities. The BEDC Co-op Pitch Competition will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at a location, tbd. Enter to pitch your idea for a local co-op business. A 3 or more person team with a workable co-op idea have a chance to win business development support and cash! Participation in the Co-op Power Workshop is a pre-requisite.

Brides, grooms and their wedding tribes can let the love affair begin at Fairmont Southampton where the Unveiled Love Affair Bridal Show will take place on Sunday, February 2nd.
The expo is from noon until 6pm in the Gardenia Ballroom, where you can explore options for makeup artists, wedding cakes, DJ’s, wines and spirits, photographers, and transportation services. Some of the vendors include Iman Artistry, Ricochet Sound Ent., Sugar Rush Cakes, Rene Hill Originals and MAETOG, just to name a few.

The team at Frog and Onion invites you to join them for what they promise will be the biggest West End celebration for Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, February 2nd.
From 7pm until 11pm, you can enjoy a buffet and specials on Heineken and Heineken 0.0, while watching the Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco 49ers on their flat screen TVs.

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation is offering an 8-week course on how to Think Like An Entrepreneur starting on Tuesday, February 4th.
Participants will learn to identify core essentials of an entrepreneurial mindset; identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities; and develop cross-discipline entrepreneurial attitudes, behaviours and skills.
The course is driven by the internationally recognised, award-winning, Ice House Entrepreneurship Programme. The entrepreneurship programme provides a challenging learning experience and is designed to reveal new opportunities, ignite one’s ambition, and foster the skills that will empower individuals to reach new heights as an entrepreneur. Ice House draws on eight fundamental concepts that can empower anyone to succeed.
Classes are every Tuesday from 6pm until 8:15pm, in the BEDC Training Room. The course finishes on March 24th.
The cost is $275. Investment includes the book ‘Who Owns the Ice House?’, access to an online learning portal and all workbook materials.

Restoration House Ministries (RHM) International presents a night of Restorative Vision Boarding, to help you achieve 2020 vision on your personal goals, on Sunday, February 9th.
Participants in this workshop can expect an energised atmosphere, empowerment to shift the mind and encouragement to “get it done” and achieve their goals. You will walk away with you goals in a visual format.
The event will be held from 4:30pm until 7:30pm at Christ Church Hall and hosted by Eugenia Robinson, with Bermudian Cuisine catered by Doreen James of Wild Herbs & Plants of Bermuda.
The cost is an investment of $60 which includes all supplies, a participant workbook, laser coaching, and small raffle items to raise money for Transforming Lives, Fighting Poverty – charity#887.

The Kardias Club invites you to their Valentine’s Day Tour of Love Wine Tasting event on Thursday, February 13th.
The event starts at 5:45pm at Thyme Restaurant, where you can enjoy light refreshments, cheeses and fruits, paired with a selection of wines provided by Discovery Wines.
Tickets are $65 and can be purchased from Kardias Members.
Kardias Club is a registered charity #51. Part proceeds from the event will benefit The Family Center.

A new exhibit titled Follow the Sun is opening at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art on Friday, January 31st.
The exhibit will show how the reputation of Bermuda as an artistic destination grew during the first decades of the 20th century, especially on the Eastern seacoast of the United States. Works on display are by international artists, created from 1885 until the 1940s.
The exhibit will be open to the general public as of January 31st. Members are invited to the Opening Reception on Thursday, January 30th from 5:30pm until 7pm.
The show will remain on display until further notice. Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and the gallery is temporarily closed on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays. General admission is $10, or free for members and children under 12.

Bring the family out to enjoy an evening of action and adventure while supporting a great cause as the St. David’s Primary PTA presents the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Premiere on Thursday, February 13th.
This is a fundraising event to assist with the refurbishment of school playground.
The film starts at 6pm at Liberty Theatre.

The International Women’s Club of Bermuda will present their annual Charity Art Exhibition at the Chubb Gallery on Woodbourne Avenue, with an opening reception on Friday, March 6th.
Entry to the gallery is free and open to everyone. There will be amazing artwork, photography, jewellery and more for sale. All proceeds from sales will be donated to P.A.L.S.
The Opening Reception is from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. The exhibition will remain on display until March 20th.
The Chub Gallery is open from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Swimmers are needed for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda’s Swimathon on Saturday, March 7th.
The swimathon will take place from 10am until 2pm at Bermuda National Sport Centre’s Aquatics and Fitness Centre. Their goal is to help raise funds to sustain the society, and to assist funding for Bermuda-based MS sufferers with medical needs. The more contributions raised, the more successful they will be at achieving their goal to educate, assist and support those in the MS community.
There is no registration fee, instead swimmers must collect pledges per lap and sponsorship forms are available by contacting info@mssociety.bm or visiting their Facebook Page/Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda.
There is no age restriction on participation, however, minors must be signed up by their parent/guardian and waiver forms should be filled in ahead of the event, available via their Facebook Page.
