April 1st, 2020 Bermuda Calendar Update
Good Morning Bermuda,
We’ve reached the month of April and normally this time of year would bring lots of fun outdoor events to the calendar, but as the number of positive COVID-19 tests rises in Bermuda it’s more important now than ever that we stay at home to slow the spread of this dangerous virus. So here’s another round up of local businesses, online activities, etc. to assist you in social distancing this week.
We hope you find this information useful and welcome you to let us know if you are offering any products or services that we can share with our audience by emailing info@BermudaEvents.com. Be sure to follow us on social media as well for daily updates.
Pharmacies …
For those located in the East End, Robertsons Drugstore have recently posted new hours on their Facebook page. They are also offering free delivery on prescriptions.
Art Galleries …
While galleries across the island have closed, most are taking a digital approach in order to continue to provide art and inspiration to the island, so be sure to stay connected with your favourites on social media.
For example, works from the 2020 Bermuda Biennial are visible on the Bermuda National Gallery’s Instagram channel @bermuda_nationalgallery and Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is hosting a daily art challenge on their Facebook page to encourage people to stay creative.
The Bermuda Arts Centre in Dockyard are launching a virtual show on Friday, April 6th called Coast Lines which you can view on their website ArtBermuda.com. All works will be for sale and they are offering delivery and curbside pick-up, just contact BermudaArtsCentre@gmail.com to make a reservation. The show will remain on display until May 6th.
Staying Productive …
Rowe Spurling Paint Co. Ltd. encourage you to catch up on your home improvement DIY projects by visiting their online store. They offer a wide range of paints for all surfaces, and complimentary island-wide delivery. Visit www.RoweSpurlingPaint.com or follow them on Facebook for daily tips, updates and design advice.
Keep up on your gardening for a daily dose of sunshine. Now is a great time to invest in a vegetable garden, and Sousa’s Gardens in Southampton are offering curbside pick-up on all of their products and seedlings. Follow them on Facebook to see what they have available and contact them at sousasgardens@slm.bm to place an order.
For Kids …
For children and adults alike interested in sharks, the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo have shared a schedule of free Shark Talk Webinars from the National Marine Educators Association. Check out the schedule by clicking on the link to the left and follow BAMZ on Facebook for more educational updates.
Another great Facebook page for animal lovers to follow is the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. Everyday at 3pm EDT, they stream a Home Safari Live where you get to meet and learn about a different creature in their zoo.
As a calming alternative to PE classes, kids can get their wiggles out in the virtual yoga classes offered by Karma Kids Yoga. Classes are $10 each and you can view the schedule here: www.KarmaKidsYoga.com/schedules.html?.
The Stationery Store are offering warehouse pick-up and home delivery on all of their products, to assist kids (and adults) work, play and create from home. Visit their Facebook page to learn more, or contact them at 295-6311.
Entertainment …
DJ IBreeze brings the vibes to would-be club goers stuck at home each week. The live DJ sets are wildly popular, with people tuning in from all over the island and abroad. You can read the story that was published last week in the Royal Gazette here, and be sure to follow him on Instagram @djibreeze to tune into to his next session.
Food & Takeout …
In an effort to support Bermuda’s hospitality industry which has taken a serious hit in light of the pandemic, The Bermuda Tourism Authority is hosting the Great Bermuda Takeout Day on Thursday, April 2nd. They encourage you to order from your favourite Bermuda eatery to support the industry and its workers. Follow them on social media and be sure to visit GoToBermuda.com/covid-19-resources for a list of eateries, products and services ready to serve you during these times.
Spirituality & Support …
During these troubling times we can all use a bit of comfort, faith and positivity. Solstice Bermuda offer a number of resources dedicated to your mental health on their Facebook page, as well as online webinars and telemedicine sessions.
