Now in its 14th year, the legendary annual Famous for 15 Minutes opens on Thursday, August 11th.
Famous for 15 Minutes was started by Tom Coash, Kelvin Hastings-Smith and Phillip Jones back in 2002. 15-minute scripts written by Bermuda residents, with no more than 4 characters, no children, limited set and props (no helicopters) are submitted to an off-shore reading committee. The committee changes annually and scripts are submitted anonymously. A final six are chosen by this reading committee for production at BMDS. Directors are assigned scripts, auditions held, and the final six plays are performed. A judge then selects the overall winner of each festival (again, with no knowledge of who wrote what script) and this winner is then awarded the Golden Inkwell trophy.
Showtime is at 8pm each night at the Daylesford Theatre, and the show will run from Thursday, August 11th until Saturday, August 13th and then from Thursday, August 18th until Saturday, August 20th. The Gala Night is on closing night with a pre-show reception at 6.30pm.
Tickets are $30, or $85 for the Gala Night, and are available from www.pTix.bm or from box office one hour before the show.
For more information, contact famous@bmds.bm or visit www.bmds.bm.
Promising the perfect cocktail of creativity and conversation, discover a different night out at Fairmont Southampton’s Wine & Design on Thursday, August 18th.
The event will run from 7pm until 9pm in the Poinciana Foyer and includes all supplies, wine and hors d’oeuvres. After the event, you will get to take home the masterpiece that you just created.
The cost is $79 per person.

In addition to an open bar, neon glow sticks, paint, etc. are included in the ticket price.
