Ten Cafe & Bar’s next Monthly Wine Tasting will be on Thursday, September 5th. Burrows & Lightbourn will present four different wines and Chef Mike Knight will be serving four canapes to complement them. The tasting will begin at 6pm and the cost is $25 per person. Taste 141 invite you to rock your weekend with cocktails and live music from Outta Bounds on Friday, September 6th. The band will be performing from 6.30pm until 9.30pm and there is no cover charge. For more information, or reservations, call 292-0777.
The Venetian yacht will once again be offering the ultimate waterfront dining view as it hosts its final Dinner Cruise of the season on Saturday, September 7th. The evening will include a gourmet dinner with wine, a welcome glass of prosecco and a dessert buffet at a cost of $195 per person. There are three tables of eight available and you can book a maximum of one table or just book two individuals seats at a table to mix and mingle. The monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Paris-Manhattan on Tuesday, September 10th at 8pm at BUEI. Tickets are $5 for members, $10 for non-members and $5 students. Full details can be found at www.alliancefrancaise.bm.
The Department of Health in partnership with the Corporation of Hamilton, Chamber of Commerce and other health partners will once again be hosting Celebrating Wellness in Victoria Park on Wednesday, September 11th. This free event is part of the ongoing Move More Campaign and Caribbean Wellness Day, encouraging the public to move more and lead a healthy lifestyle. This year’s theme will focus on Youth and is entitled Love That Body: Safeguarding the health of our youth for a brighter future. From 5pm until 8pm, you’ll have access to Health Screenings and Healthy Food Vendors, as well as entertainment and activities to get you moving, such as Skate Park, CrossFit, Bermuda Institute Steel Band, Zumba, Jazzercise, Gynastics Association, Local Dance Groups, Jump Rope Teams, Nordic Walking and more. If you missed the previous two, this is your last chance to enjoy dinner, drinks, dancing and more at an island-style extravaganza in the beautiful open-air setting of Fort Hamilton on Friday, September 20th. From 7pm until 11pm, the Fort Night Fever Finale will include an Open BBQ Buffet and dessert bar, and you can join in with optional walking tours through the depths of the Fort (comfortable shoes recommended). Hosts will serve you complimentary swizzle all evening or you can wander to the full bar and experience a variety of Bermuda Cocktails prepared by Gosling’s mixologists. The live band will keep you dancing all night long with reggae, calypso, soca and some modern pop favourites, while a fire limbo show will challenge you to join in for a crowning of King and Queen of Limbo. Another opportunity to explore alternative therapies and lifestyles at the next Holistic Fair on Saturday, September 21st. The next in the Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series will be Ferry Reach: Footsteps into a Forgotten History on Sunday, September 22nd. This will be the 2nd Annual Dr. Pauulu Kamarakafego Memorial Lecture and the speaker will be Lance Furbert. The walking tour will begin at Ferry Reach Park entrance at 4.30pm and comfortable shoes are recommended. You are also invited to bring your own picnic for glowworm viewing after the tour. ANCOP International (Bermuda) invite you to join them in their 2013 ANCOP Walk at Horseshoe Bay on Sunday, September 29th. ANCOP (ANswering the Cry Of the Poor) in an international network with a mission of improving the quality of life of poor families and to improve the communities where they live through a sustainable and holistic approach. This 5K Beach to Beach walk is open to anyone and assembly time is 8.30am. The registration fee is $35, or $25 for students, and proceeds will benefit the ANCOP Child Sponsorship Programme and other local projects of ANCOP in cooperation with Centre Against Abuse and St. Vincent de Paul Society. The October instalment of the popular Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series will be Bold, Beautiful Bermudians on Saturday, October 5th at 3pm at Grotto Bay Beach Resort. The speakers for the afternoon will be Meredith Ebbin, Andrew Bermingham, Ronald Lightbourne and Lisabet Outerbridge. The cost is $10 for the talk and tea. Who needs Broadway – the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Bermuda are saving you the airfare as they are back with their annual October production. This year’s offering is their version of the award-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, South Pacific, which will run at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall from Thursday, October 10th to Saturday, October 19th (except on the 14th). Performances will be at 8pm daily with a matinee at 3pm on Sunday, October 13th. On Opening Night, there will be a complimentary cocktail reception in the foyer. Sponsored by BF&M, the 17th Annual Breast Cancer Fun Walk will be on Wednesday, October 16th at 6pm. The walk starts and finishes at Barr’s Bay Park and registration costs $30, with free walk packs while supplies last.
