Another week has gone by in a flash – anybody else feel like they could do with a Pause button on life to just give you a little time to catch up with yourself?
Here is your weekly update with all the new events added to the Bermuda calendar since last week’s post. As always, be sure to check out the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming Bermuda events, including those previously covered in previous posts.
Come socialize and network with other golfing ladies at IslandKaddy’s weekly Ladies Night, Nine and Wine with the next on Wednesday, March 21st.
Tee Off is at 6pm, with warm up from 5.30pm, playing 9 Holes Stableford. This will continue every Wednesday until further notice.
The cost is $30 per player.

Masterworks invite you to join them for the official opening as Bermuda High School’s Art Department welcomes you to the 2018 IB Visual Arts Diploma Exhibition, GenZ Bermuda High School Student Art, on Thursday, March 22nd.
The official opening reception will be from 5.30pm until 7pm and the exhibit will run until April 18th.
The students have independently selected a focus area to work within during their Visual Arts course. They are presenting a cohesive selection of artworks in the final exhibition, which may be linked thematically or stylistically. There are 5 students exhibiting in a range of mediums from digital animation, to sculpture, to painting.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and is temporarily closed on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays. General admission is $5, or free for members and children under 12.

The Bermuda National Fishcake Competition will take place on Thursday, March 22nd.
The evening will begin at 6pm at The Leopards’ Club International and Participants will enter fishcakes to be judged on taste, appearance, colour and size. Entries must be submitted by 7pm for judging. The Competition has been going strong for over 25 years with perennial winners Dale Butler or Rodney Smith. Now they are stepping down and this will provide a golden opportunity for a King and Queen to be selected as overall winners.
Categories consist of Youth under 16, Adult Amateur and Adult Professional. There will be winners in each category but one overall female winner and one overall male winner. The overall winners will make guest appearances at La Trattoria Good Friday week and Easter Brunch at Fourways Inn.
In addition, vendors and two people will be honoured for their contribution to our local culture, and there will be live entertainment by The Brothers in Music. The event’s major sponsor is The Leopards’ Club.
The entry fee is $15 for Youths and $25 for Adults. A gourmet supper will also be on sale for $20, which includes a gift and drink. General admission for spectators is free.

BUEI Talks and National Museum of Bermuda present Coastal Defenses of the Western Atlantic during World War Two on Thursday, March 22nd.
You are invited to join them for a book signing of Defenses of Bermuda 1612 – 1995 with authors Ed Harris and Terry McGovern. This
will be followed by an illustrated lecture focusing on the British, Canadian and American efforts to build and man coastal defenses along their coastline during 1939 to 1945.
There will be a book signing from 7pm, before the lecture starts at 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.
Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar with Sushi Happy Hour prices on selected sushi and drinks available until 6.30pm. The full menu will be available from 6pm. Please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. For dinner reservations call 295-4207.
Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-members, $10 for students, and are non-refundable within 24 hours of the event.

Come see the future stars of Bermuda at the the 19th Annual Kappa Classic from Thursday to Sunday, March 22nd to 25th.
Bermuda’s largest youth sporting event will be held over four days for the first time this year, as there will be 118 teams in the tournament and 1240 participants.
Game times at National Sports Centre will be from 6pm until 9pm on the Thursday and Friday, and from 9am until 6pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

Restoration Fellowship invite you to join them as they host their Spring Revival: Ignite! Holy Ghost Fire Experience from Wednesday to Friday, March 28th to 30th.
Services will be held at 7.30pm nightly at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI). Their special guest speaker will be Pastor Samuel Cornish. Come and experience a dynamic move of the Spirit of God with the manifestations of healing, deliverance, and miracles.

The April edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Médecin de Campagne (Irreplaceable) on Tuesday, April 10th.
Screening in BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium at 8pm, this French comedy/drama with English subtitles is from director Thomas Lilti, starring François Cluzet and Marianne Denicourt. The running time is 1 hour 42 minutes.
All the inhabitants, in this corner of the countryside, can count on Jean-Pierre, the doctor who auscultates them, cares for them and reassures them day and night, 7 days a week. Sick in turn, Jean-Pierre sees Nathalie arrive, a recent doctor, coming from the hospital to help him. But will she manage to adapt to this new life and to replace the one who was thought … irreplaceable? …..

Monroe Darrell of M-CORE will be hosting the MDX Games, Bermuda’s first ever Ambidextrous Event, on Sunday, April 22nd.
This fun, family-friendly sporting event will take place from 2pm until 5pm at the South Field of National Sports Centre. The MDX Games will promote total health by facilitating discussion, interactive activities and competitions that use both the left and right sides of the body, and aims to attract both young and professional athletes, sports enthusiasts, fitness buffs and health-conscious individuals.
This event is free and does not require registration.

Four new exhibits are opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall on Friday, May 4th.
Sponsored by the American Society of Botanical Art, Botanical Art Worldwide: Flora of Bermuda will be showcased in the Edinburgh Gallery. The paintings feature native and endemic plants of the island rendered in watercolor and colored pencil. On May 18th, the local exhibit will be one of 23 exhibits from countries around the world to feature in a live telecast focusing on the unique flora of each locale.
The BSoA Members Spring Show will be opening in the Onions Gallery, while Unique Perspectives and Intricacies will be opening in Studios A and B by artists Michelle Preece-Cox and Lyndell Furbert.
The grand opening will be from 5.30pm until 7.30pm at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA), City Hall.
Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibit will run until Tuesday, May 29th.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

Enjoy a series of concerts in the Trudeau Ballroom at the Hamilton Princess as Alex Tuchman and Bermuda School of Music collaborate once again to present the Bermuda Piano Festival on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 28th, 30th and 31st.
The opening concert on the Monday will feature the return performance of the Giorgi Mikadze Trio; and two piano performances of En blanc et noir (Debussy), Scaramouche (Milhaud), Le Grand Tango (Piazzolla) and Variations on a Theme by Paganini (Lutoslawski). The second concert performance will feature Alex Tuchman in a classical music recital. Finally, the Thursday concert will be a Tribute to Leonard Bernstein.
Each concert will start at 7pm.
There is no admission charge, however donors and guests of the Hamilton Princess will have priority as to seating.
