BUEI Screens presents: Whitney on Thursday, August 30th.

Whitney Houston broke more music industry records than any other female singer in history. With over 200 million album sales worldwide, she was the only artist to chart seven consecutive U.S. No. 1 singles. She also starred in several blockbuster movies before her brilliant career gave way to erratic behaviour, scandals and death at age 48. The documentary feature Whitney is an intimate, unflinching portrait of Houston and her family that probes beyond familiar tabloid headlines and sheds new light on the spellbinding trajectory of Houston’s life.

Using never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive demo recordings, rare performances, audio archives and original interviews with the people who knew her best, Oscar®-winning filmmaker, Kevin Macdonald unravels the mystery behind “The Voice,” who thrilled millions even as she struggled to make peace with her own troubled past.

The film begins at 7:30pm in BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium, and is Rated R with a running time of 120 minutes.

Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. The restaurant opens for dinner at 6pm.  Please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers.  For dinner reservations call 295-4207.

Looking for a new hobby? Bermuda TableTop Wargaming are offering a series of Introduction Days to Warhammer 40,000 starting on Saturday, September 15th.

From Noon until 5pm at the DNA Creative Shoppe, interested players are invited to come and learn this game, which parents will be interested to know is a great STEM activity for boys and girls.

In Warhammer 40,000 you can collect incredible armies of miniatures representing armies from the distant future, then recreate clashes of 41st Millennium in tabletop games of strategy and luck for two or more players. Each aspect of the Warhammer 40,000 hobby is said to be hugely rewarding and satisfying in its own right. Build and paint your collection as you choose, to represent one of the iconic forces of the far future, or one of your own invention.

Your army can be whatever you want it to be: legions of infantry, powerful heroes, formations of tanks, demonic and alien monsters or titanic lords of war.

Play missions across battlefields of your own creation where no two games need ever be the same. Players can battle competitively at local gaming clubs, in Bermuda TableTop Wargaming stores, at one of the thousands of tournaments that take place across the world each year, or forge a narrative with a battle or campaign that embraces the vast and limitless options offered from what is said to be one of the richest and most expansive settings in all of fantasy and science fiction.

Future Introduction Days will be held on Saturdays, November 17th and January 19th (2019).

There is no cost to attend.

Bermuda TableTop Wargaming invite you to join them for a series of Introduction Days to Warhammer Age of Sigmar with the next one on Saturday, October 20th.

From Noon until 5pm at the DNA Creative Shoppe, interested players are invited to join this tabletop miniature war game made by Games Workshop, which has taken the place of the earlier game, Warhammer: Fantasy. The two games are similar but have some distinct differences in that AoS is more of a skirmish style game and Warhammer: Fantasy was infantry blocks and mass regiments. In Age of Sigmar, two players pitch their armies against each other to see who is victorious. The armies are represented by different miniature models.

This is an opportunity to meet local players, and learn the depth of a new hobby. Parents will also be interested to know the game is a great STEM activity for boys and girls.

Future Introduction Days will be held on Saturdays; December 15th, January 19th (2019), and February 16th (2019).
