Good morning Bermuda!

Here’s your weekly update with all of the latest events that have been added to the calendar since last week. It’s nearly time for tricks and treats and there are lots of ways to celebrate Halloween this year no matter your age! BUEI Films & The Queen Group presents: We the People on Thursday, October 18th.

Don’t miss the Bermuda screening of ‘We the People: A Re-evolution of Economics and Politics’, from Director Emmanuel Itier, Executive Producer Sharon Stone and Bermudian Producer, Dawn Zuill – Producers of the award-winning ‘Femme: Women Healing The World’. The film is a worldwide study of economics and politics that illustrates how deep thinkers are bringing peace to the planet, explores how we can bring peace to the world, featuring interviews from around the world including Bermuda! Following the film will be a Q&A with Director, Emmanuel Itier.

The reception begins at 6:30pm in the foyer, where you can meet the Director and enjoy complimentary canapés and cash bar. The talk and film starts at 7:30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.

All artists and art lovers are invited to come and experience the works of local artists in the new exhibitions opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts in City Hall on Friday, October 19th.

The Onions Gallery and Studios A & B, will feature Mindframe Photovoice: Through the lens – Look Out, Focus in, an exhibition by people who use services at the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute.

The Edinburgh Gallery will feature Reef Roamers IV:  An Exhibition of Marine Sculptures by Janet Percy.

The Opening Reception is on Friday, October 19, from 5-7pm. Both shows will run until Wednesday, November 6th.

Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays.

Lido Complex is happy to announce the launch of their newest event for fall, Aperitivo: The Made in Italy way to do Happy Hour starting on Friday, October 19th.

Aperitivo is Italian for Happy Hour and in Italy Happy Hour is not just a time to share a drink with your mates, but also a time to share some food.

The Bermuda National Trust is raffling off an electric BMW i3 with tickets on sale from now until the big draw on Saturday, October 27th.

Join the Impact Mentoring Academy for a night of Family Glow Golf at Dockyard Fun Golf on Saturday, October 20th.

Impact Mentoring Academy, an all boys school, is a registered charity with a special focus on working with the growth and development of Bermuda’s young men.

A not-to-be-missed, FREE, information session for one of the most selective boarding schools in the world, Groton School, will take place on Wednesday, October 24th.

The very last two BUEI Glow Worm Tours for the season will be on Friday, Oct 26th and Saturday, October 27th.

The cruises depart from BUEI at 6:45pm. Glow worms are only visible two days after a full moon, between May and November, so don’t miss this popular tour to see Mother Nature’s fireworks!

The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members.

The Yoga Centre is hosting the next workshop in their Yoga For All Seasons Series: Scorpio. Harvest Your Power, on Friday, October 26th.

From 7:30pm until 9pm at their premises on Victoria Street, you are invited to join them as they welcome the sun’s shift into this mysterious sign. This workshop uses the wisdom of the zodiac to complement the practice of Hatha yoga – and you don’t have to be a scorpio to attend! Regardless of your personal sun-sign, the workshop is designed to help you tap into latent energy resources within and evoke transformation.

The instructor is Gitta, a RYT 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher and passionate student of Astrology, who has studied with the professional astrologer and author, Benebell Wen.

It’s that time again! The Bermuda National Library wants you to celebrate with them at their second annual Soul Train Back in ‘D’ Day Costume Party on Friday, October 26th.

This will take place from 8pm until Midnight at the Library, where you are invited to come decked out in your polyester bell bottoms, platform shoes and afros, and groove to the tunes of DJ Dewitt. There will be prizes awarded for Soul Train King and Queen.

Admission is $5. All proceeds go to support Friends of the Library.

Don’t miss this spectacular, swashbuckling adventure for all ages, the BUEI Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27th.

From 12pm until 4pm at BUEI, this event is dedicated to providing unique skill-based games for children, families and parents. Children are invited to come dressed in their costumes to enjoy the food, tours and new attractions!

Admission is $2.50 for members, $5 for non-members, and free for children under 3.

The Youth Library will be transformed into a Haunted Library on Saturday, October 27th.

From 5:30pm until 8pm, children of all ages can dress in their favourite costume and come out to a night of fright. Listen to a telling of “Terror on Display”, a great haunted story about mysterious things happening at a store, and try and figure out what’s going on.

Tickets are $3 in advance from the Library, or $5 at the door. Goodie bags will also be given out.

You are invited to a haunted evening at the Beau Rivage Halloween Cocktail Party on Saturday, October 27th.

From 6:30pm until 11pm, you can enjoy cocktails and canapés at the Newstead Hotel Pool Bar, where you can dance to DJ Grooves on the poolside terrace under the stars. The Silver ticket includes two Halloween cocktails and delicious canapés created especially by their professional chefs.The Gold ticket includes two Halloween cocktails and a gourmet three-course dinner menu created specially for Halloween. Pre-dinner cocktails are made by bartender Alessandro at the Beau Rivage bar.

From 1pm until 5pm at #1 Car Park,  this year’s festival will see several new vendors taking our local flavours to the streets! Restoration Fellowship invites you to attend their upcoming conference,  International Prophetic Encounter 2018 from Friday, November 2nd until Sunday, November 4th.

The Bermuda Historical Society, together with the Bermuda National Library, will be marking the centenary of the ending of the First World War with a Tour, Lecture and Film Screening Event on Thursday, November 8th.

From 5:30pm, the event starts with a mini-lecture and tour in the Bermuda Historical Society Museum, led by Mr. Andrew Bermingham. This will be on the artefacts the BHS hold related to World War I, which will include the story of Fred Dolan. Guests are then asked to move to the upper floor of the Bermuda National Library at 6pm for a screening of BBC’s “The Great War” (part 26) which focuses on the last few months of the war and the signing of the Armistice with Germany. This 40-minute film will be followed by an hour-long documentary on Walter Tull, a black British footballer in pre-war England, and one of the first black British officers.

This event is free and light refreshments will be served.

Proceeds will go to Project 100 Charity Trust, to benefit the housing needs of the Developmentally Challenged in Bermuda. Project 100 is a 100% volunteer registered charity.
