You are invited to Celebrate Pink at The Young Men’s Social Club’s Blue Diamond Lounge on Wednesday, October 10th.

The celebration is from 6pm until 10pm, and you can expect raffles, games, snacks & drinks, and a prize-giving for the most fabulous pink outfit.

There is no cover charge although donations will be accepted at the door. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Part proceeds of the event will go to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

To celebrate World Hospice & Palliative Care Week, Friends of Hospice will be hosting a free, educational Movie Night on Friday, October 12th.

The event starts at 6:30pm within BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium, where they will be screening the feature film ‘Wit’ followed by a Q&A session.

Based on the 1999 Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name, Wit follows the life of Vivian Bearing (Emma Thompson) who is a professor of English literature. Her life takes a turn when she is diagnosed with metastatic Stave IV ovarian cancer. Oncologist Harvey Kelekian (Christopher Lloyd) prescribes various chemotherapy treatments to treat her disease as she attempts to put everything into perspective. During the course of the film, she continually breaks the fourth wall by looking into the camera and expressing her feelings.

The Bermuda Hospitals Board and the Bermuda Society of Arts cordially invite you to attend the Opening Night of the 12th annual MindFrame PhotoVoice Exhibit on Friday, October 19th.

This is an exhibit of art, photography and poetry by people who use the mental health, intellectual disability and substance abuse services of the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute.

This exhibit is the annual highlight of the Bermuda Hospitals Board community outreach to break down the stigma, educate and nurture understanding for people who need our services.

The opening reception is from 5:30pm until 7pm and the exhibit will run until November 2nd.

Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays.

Rum Tasting, Cocktails & Canapés in Aid of Action on Alzheimers and Dementia will take place on Friday, October 19th.

From 6pm until 8:30pm in The Aquarium Hall, you can taste 5 special and rare rums from Bacardi’s select range, while enjoying rum cocktails, wine and canapés.

Tickets are $75.  All proceeds from the event will go towards AAD’s (registered charity #939) community and residential programs supporting Bermuda’s dementia community.

You are invited to “Party in Pink” at the second annual Zumbathon Fundraiser for Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre on Saturday, October 20th.

Once again, this will be held from 2pm until 4pm at Cafe4 (Windsor Place), where you can join the group of local Zumba instructors who are gathering for a great cause. They ask that you come out to have fun, wear pink, put your dancing shoes on and don’t let them fight alone.

The cost is $20 to participate, and you will receive some products from the sponsors and potentially win one of the prizes.

Join the Friends of the Library at Liberty Theatre for a special screening of The Hate U Give on Saturday, October 20th at 5:30pm.

The film starts at 5:30pm, and tells the tale of a young girl who witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. The film is based on the award-winning novel by Angie Thomas. This event follows the Library’s Book Club on October 11th.

Tickets are on sale for $25 at the Adult and Youth Library. Popcorn, drink and a post film discussion with Kristin White is included.

The Sandys Parish Council Wine Tasting is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 20th.

This will be held from 6pm until 9pm at The Star of India Building in Dockyard.

Tickets are $50, which includes appetisers. Raffles will also be on sale for a minimum purchase of 5 tickets for $5. Proceeds of the event are to aid the parish’s education awards.

A night to celebrate life and raise awareness of breast cancer will take place at the Hamilton Princess Pink Party on Saturday, October 20th.

This will be held from 7pm until 11pm at the hotel’s 1609 Bar & Restaurant, where you can enjoy live entertainment from the Kennel Boys, passed hors d’oevres, and a buffet dinner including; a decadent Seafood Counter with oysters, crab, lobster & shrimp, a Taco Station, and Chocolate Fountain. There will also be an Open Bar with free flowing Moet Chandon Ice Imperial Rosé, Aix Rosé and Rosé Themed Cocktails, and prize giveaways.

Dress code is pink.

Up to 18 men’s and ladies’ gig rowing teams, from the UK, US, and Bermuda, have been invited to compete in a series of races across the island in mid-October for The Argus International Gig Regatta 2018 starting on Sunday, October 21st

Gig rowing is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and Bermuda is no different. The competition will be fierce with 2 days of all male and all female teams racing and 1 day of co-ed teams racing. Catch the action by land or sea and cheer on the island’s pilot gig rowers!

The schedule is as follows:

Men’s & Ladies’ Racing on Sunday, October 21st, from 10:30am until 4:30pm at St. George’s Harbour, East End Mini Yacht Club.

Co-Ed Racing on Thursday, October 25th, from 2pm until 6pm, at Mangrove Bay, Sandys Boat Club.

Men’s & Ladies’ Racing on Saturday, October 27th, from 10:30am until 4:30pm at Spanish Point Boat Club.

The Bermuda Pilot Gig Club (BPGC) is a community-based rowing club that is open to anyone who wishes to get involved in pilot gig rowing either socially or competitively. The club was established in 2015 and has grown to include 9 pilot gigs housed at 3 locations across the island, each offering regular rows throughout the week and weekend. Active members range from age 14 to 70+, in which all ages engage in social and/or competitive rowing. This event has been made possible by event sponsors: Argus, Bermuda Tourism Authority, Axis, Chubb, Iron-Starr, and BF&M with added support from: Burrows Lightbourn Ltd., Robertson’s Drug Store, Somers Supermart, Dowling’s Marine, and Wahoo’s Bistro & Patio.

There is no admission fee for spectators. A variety of vendors will be on site.

St. Anne’s Church Hall invite you to join them for Bible Leads The Way, A Scavenger Hunt with a twist, on Sunday, October 21st.

Starting at 3:30pm at St. Anne’s Church Hall, you’ll meet to collect your list of clues before heading out for a fun-filled Fall afternoon, with laughter guaranteed. To participate, bring a church, workplace, or family and friends team. Teams are limited to a maximum of 4 people in a car. Choose the safest driver, the quickest thinkers and the fastest runners. The event will include a prize giving at the end and light refreshments,

Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are welcome to attend the Costumes & Crafts Camp from Monday, October 22nd until Friday, October 26th.

This will be held from 8:30am until 5:30pm at the Botanical Gardens Horticultural Hall on each of these days, and promises to be filled with fun, games, movies, music, crafts like costume creation, wall art, and much more!

The cost is $35 per day, $135 for the week, or $125 for The Early Bird special if you register by Friday, October 12th.

Bermuda Gymnastics Association are offering a Mid-Term Camp from Monday, October 22nd until Friday, October 26th.

Children between the ages of 4 and 12 are invited to join for a Hallowe’en-themed week, loaded with Tricks for Treat activities. In addition to their trampolines and foam pit, they are really excited to offer Parkour Afternoons. Parkour is a training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training, and everyday, campers will get new obstacle challenges based on the programming or dynamics of Parkour.

The cost is $305 per week for full days, from 9am until 4pm . There’s also the option to book half days only (from 9am to 12:30pm or 12:30pm to 4pm) for $205 for per week.

Early drop off is at 8:30 am and late pick up is at 5:30pm.

Lotus is offering a workshop to help you gain a better understanding of women’s hormonal health and how to raise your vibration and energy levels at home and in the workplace at Women’s Hormonal Health, Childbirth & Workplace Wellness dōTERRA Essential Oil Make & Take Evening on Tuesday, October 23rd.

The Yoga Centre is offering a 6-Week Beginners Yoga Course starting on Thursday, October 25th.

The class meets weekly at their premises on Victoria Street, from 5:30pm until 7pm, and is geared to those new to yoga and/or those wishing to revive their practice and develop a regular routine.

The course provides step by step instruction into the practice of yoga where students gain strength and flexibility, confidence in learning how to do the poses correctly and breathing practices to calm the mind and deepen the asana experience; as well as Deep Relaxation to relieve stress and and foster healthy sleep. The instructor is an E-RYT 500 Yoga Alliance teacher, teachers’ trainer and YACEP provider as well as a yoga therapist, hence she is equip to work with most student abilities and challenges while ensuring safety first.

The Bermuda National Gallery’s Art of Music series is thrilled to present a fundraising event, featuring internationally acclaimed violinist Michael Foyle, with opening performances by Bermudian violin duo “ViolinSisters” Naphisa and Sari Smith on Saturday, October 27th

British talent Michael Foyle won The Netherlands Violin Competition 2016. His acclaimed performance of Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No.1 with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra led to an immediate invitation to give his debut recital at The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. In the past two seasons, Michael has made his recital debuts in Wigmore Hall, Southbank Centre, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Bridgewater Hall, Usher Hall and Buckingham Palace. Abroad, he has performed Brahms’ Violin Concerto in Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and has given recitals for the New York Chamber Music Festival, Cervantino Festival in Mexico and Evgeny Mravinsky Festival in Tallinn and St. Petersburg. Michael won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Tabor Award 2008 and Royal Overseas League String Competition 2013.

For this event, Michael’s repertoire will include: Bach’s Sonata for solo violin in A Minor, E. Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 1 in G minor, and N. Paganini’s Two Caprices.

The evening of music starts with a reception at 5:30pm, followed by the concert at 6pm in the Bermuda National Gallery at City Hall.

Please note there will be no event in October, however The Grateful Bread monthly feeding program will continue with two events next month on Thursdays; November 1st and November 29th.

The event will start and end promptly, at Astwood Hall opposite of HSBC on Church Street, from 6pm until 7.30pm or earlier if all food is gone. All in need are welcome, but please no entry on church grounds until after 5pm. Food will be restricted to one plate per person present, unless there is food left over at end of the line, and no filling of personal containers will be allowed until everyone has had a plate of food. There will also be free giveaways and donations of clothes, household items, toiletries and more.

This event will continue monthly until further notice. The date for the December event is yet to be advised.

From 10am until 4pm at St. Paul’s Christian Centre, you are bound to find that perfect gift idea from one of their 27 vendors.  There will be edible treats, paintings, jewellery, ceramics, ornaments, quilts, lamps, cards, knitting, Bermudian books, cloth bags, woodworking, mosaic art, stained glass items, soaps and scents. There is also a kitchen providing Bermudian cuisine.

Ample parking is available at this centrally located venue, which is also wheelchair accessible. You are invited to come and spend a couple of pleasant hours shopping, cash and green bags in hand.
