Happy Hump Day Bermuda!

We are officially into summer now and things are heating up outside, and on the Bermuda Events Calendar. So here is your weekly update with all of the latest events to the calendar since last week, just make sure you also check out the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of the post, for a full listing of ALL upcoming events, including those previously covered on previous posts. Hamilton Princess Hotel invites you to experience fusion cuisine like you’ve never had it before, at Marcus’ Mash Up Dinner on Saturday, June 29th.

From 5pm until 9pm at Marcus’, the dinner menu will celebrate the celebrity chef’s heritage, where Sweden meets the Philippines! They promise a memorable mash-up that will bring out the best in Filipino food, so popular in Bermuda.

The cost for Dinner is $85, plus gratuities. For Dinner with Wine Pairings, the cost is $135, plus gratuities. Tickets are available on www.Ptix.bm.

Bermuda Sailors Home will host a Charity Horse Racing Night on Saturday, June 29th.

From 5pm until 11pm at their premises on Richmond Road, they are screening pre-recorded horse races, alongside nibbles, finger food and refreshments. There are eight races with eight horses in each race, and you can place bets to pick the winner.

Tickets are $35 and funds raised will go to the Bermuda Sailors Home. The bar will be available.

All are welcome to attend the 24th Annual Portuguese Festival for the Holy Spirit on Saturday, June 29th.

From 7pm until 11pm in King Square, St. George’s, the whole family can enjoy a day of fun with live entertainment, Portuguese food and baked goods for sale.

On Sunday, June 30th, the procession starts at 1:30pm from the square to church and back again, between 3pm and 4pm. Following the procession, the festival will continue until 11pm.

There is no entry fee.

Hamilton Princess Hotel invites you to a very special Brunch Revolution with Marcus on Sunday, June 30th.

From 11am until 3pm at Marcus’, chef Marcus Samuelson himself will be there to introduce a new dish that will be added to the restaurant’s signature menu, and to sign copies of his cook book. Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Felix.

The cost of Brunch alone is $54 per person, plus gratuities. Or opt for the Champagne Brunch to enjoy free flowing champagne, for $94 per person, plus gratuities. Champagne is limited to two hours only with the option to extend for an additional $35 per hour.

School is out and Castle Masters invites you to celebrate with them at the School’s Out Fun Day on Sunday, June 30th.

From 4pm until 9pm at Bernard’s Park Softball Field, you can bring the family and your chairs and blankets for an evening of fun.

To entertain the children there will be multiple Bouncy castles on site, and the Giant Slide, as well as games, prizes, tattoos and the Gombeys.

Cotton candy, popcorn, popsicles, hot dogs, pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.

Entry is $5 for anyone over 2 years old. The bounce fee is additional $5 for unlimited access to the Bouncy Castles.

The weekly summer festival where you can experience everything Bermuda’s 21 miles has to offer is happening at Destination Dockyard, every Monday, from July 1st until August 26th.

Each week from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on the North Lawn in Royal Naval Dockyard, there will be a different theme starting with Culture Fest on Monday, July 1st.

The event offers a offers an interactive cultural experience that celebrates artistic expression, contemporary technology, and Bermuda’s heritage and people. Each night features local cuisine, sporting demonstrations, live entertainment from local performers and musicians, and displays of virtual reality games and digital technology. Art lovers can take an interactive journey through the offerings of local artists and crafters.

This is a free event. Destination Dockyard will continue every Monday with a Nautical & Marine Festival on July 8th; Reggae Night on July 15th; Pirates Landing on July 22nd; Emancipation Day Celebrations on July 29th; Need For Speed on August 5th; Dance the Night Away on August 12th, and Back To School Finale on August 26th.

BIFFFlix Presents: All is True on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Stars Judi Dench, Kenneth Branagh and Ian McKellen, also directed by Mr Branagh. The film is a portrait of William Shakespeare during the last three years of his life, as he leaves London and returns to his family in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The film starts at 6:30pm at Specialty Cinema.

Child Evangelism Fellowship are hosting a CEF 5-Day Club from Monday, July 8th to Friday, July 12th.

The club meets daily from 10am until noon at Emmanuel Methodist Church, where children will join in exciting Bible lessons, fun games, songs and activities, with snacks and prizes to be won. The club is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old.

The Bermuda College PACE Division wants you to get started on an exciting new career path this summer, as they host a series of free Information Sessions starting on Monday, July 8th.

If you have the talent and passion to create or enhance beauty through hairstyling, plan to attend the session on the City & Guilds Diploma in Hairdressing on Monday, July 8th.

At the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Information Session on Tuesday, July 9th, you can learn about ACCA certification – the global body for professional accountants. No prior experience or qualification is required.

On, Tueday, July 16th, the session on Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) is ideal for anyone seeking a career in law, or seeking certification in the field, including legal administration certification.

If you love working outdoors and are Interested in plants, you can take steps towards becoming a landscaper at the session on the Certificate in Basic Horticulture Programme on Monday, July 22nd.

All sessions start at 6pm in the PACE Division, within the West Hall of the Bermuda College.

The Eastern Zone Community Centre will host a 4ASide Football Tournament on Tuesday, July 9th.

Sign-up starts at 7:30pm, and they are looking for the best four man team from the Eastern Clubs, as well as the best juggler. The tournament is open to players aged 14 and up. Prizes, medals, and trophies will be awarded. Refreshments will also be served.

The tournament is from 8pm until 10pm.

Inspired by the ancient names of the full moons, the Ocean Club at Fairmont Southampton are hosting a series of Full Moon Parties, continuing with the Buck Moon Fizz on Saturday, July 13th.

From 7pm until 11pm, they invite you to join them ocean-side for a swanky night under the rising Full Buck Moon. This is an all-inclusive event featuring an open bar with full Veuve Clicquot Champagne service, live entertainment and interactive gourmet culinary stations.

Dress code is gold fizz.

Early Bird tickets are available for $128 (plus 17% gratuity – $149) until July 6th, and $170 (plus 17% gratuity- $199), thereafter.

Registration is now open for the Bermuda Rowing Association’s Summer Learn To Row Programme for both juniors and adults, which starts on Monday, July 15th.

There will be two-week Junior Camps starting on Monday, July 15th, running every two-weeks until September 6th. Camp is from 9am until noon, Monday through Friday. The camp is for ages 12 and upwards.

The four-week Adult Camps start on Mondays, July 15th and August 12th. These camps run 3 mornings per week from 6am until 8:15am. All equipment is supplied and you must be able to swim 100m wearing rowing kit and be reasonably fit.

All camps will meet at the Dinghy Club and row to White’s Island.

The fee for the adult course is $395, which includes BRA membership, gym facilities and rowing until January 31st, 2020. The fee for Juniors is $300 per 2-week course.  Spaces on the courses are limited and payment secures your “crew” seat.

The next installment in the Bermudian Heartbeats: 14th Annual Dr. Kenneth E. Robinson/Cyril Outerbridge Packwood Memorial Lecture will focus on Langston Hughes, Bermuda, and the World of Poetry on Tuesday, July 16th.

The lecture is from 6pm until 7:30pm at BUEI, featuring guest speakers: Dr. Arnold Rampersad and Professor Emeritus, of Stanford University.
