September 25th, 2019 Bermuda Calendar Update

Good Morning Bermuda,

I guess we got a two for one special on these storms – fingers crossed that Jerry doesn’t cause anymore serious damage so we only have to pay the price of one! Anywho, here is your weekly update of all the latest events to the Bermuda Calendar since last week. As always, make sure you scroll all the way down to see the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming events, including those previously covered in previous posts.

Since it’s not practical to add them to the post each week, all of the Regular/ Weekly Events are listed on a separate page which you can access from the drop-down options under the Other Sections tab on the homepage.

If you are planning an event, let us help you spread the world by submitting a full description of your event to our online submission form here – a basic listing is free!

Substance International Institute Faith School will host a workshop: Mental Health in the Church on Thursday, October 10th.

This will take place from 6pm until 9pm at the Heritage Worship Center in Hamilton.

The workshop is being held in lieu of Mental Health Awareness Week (from October 6th to 12th) and will include a training called “ME”, which stands for Mind’s Emotions.  The objective is to help church leaders and members better comprehend mental illness, its stigma, and that some people are sick and are not demonically possessed.

As it it is a topic that is not taught, spoken, or preached about, the goal is to impart knowledge about mental health and illness, to provide churchgoers laypersons, members and partners within local churches with enough understanding to stop the stigma.

Mental health in the church has become a widespread epidemic which is increasing daily. The facilitator of the workshop is Dr. Althea Winifred, a Bermudian and Dean of SII Faith School. She firmly believes students should become educated on their journey to empowerment, equipped and edified to achieve a biblical education for God’s assignment. Her aim is to work with students to reach their personal and spiritual study goals through a variety of programs.

The cost of the workshop is $95 and tickets can be purchased by contacting  (441) 777-5578 / (441) 704-1340 / (770) 568-1626 via WhatsApp.

For more information, contact SubstanceInstiute@gmail.com, 400-5634 or visit www.SiiFaithSchool.org/events-1/mental-health-in-the-church-workshop.
