This season you can join a walking tour focused on the stories of black Bermudians, to walk in their footsteps and learn of their rebellion, resistance and resilience, on the Resilience: Bermudians of African Descent Tours led by Kristin White in the town of St. George’s, every Wednesday and Saturday.

In 1616, Bermuda became the first English colony to use enslaved Africans, and slavery would continue on this island until Emancipation on August 1, 1834.  This walking tour includes entry into 2 historic attractions. Saturday’s tour is a Food + History tour, and includes 4 food samples from eateries around town, giving the group the opportunity to connect with Black entrepreneurs.

Tours depart from Long Story Short on Water Street, at 2pm every Wednesday, and 1pm every Saturday. Tours will continue weekly until December 21st.

Tickets for Wednesday are $50 for adults; $40 for students and seniors, while tickets for Saturday are $150. All tickets can be purchased at www.Ptix.bm/Event/3676/Time/22283/Resilience-Bermudians-of-Afric.

Experience Bermuda’s 400 year old indigenous art form, on the town of St. George’s Architecture Tour: Why Are the Roofs White? every Saturday.

Step back in time with tour guide Peter Frith, an 11th generation Bermudian, as he shares with you the stories of the historic properties which make up this UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the early 17th Century. You’ll learn what led early island settlers to create Bermuda’s most iconic architectural symbol: white stepped roofs. Following a gentle stroll through the historic town, you’ll visit Mitchell House, a shining example of a traditional Bermudian cottage built in the early 1700s. Enjoy a light refreshment as you explore this quaint property and its gardens to learn how our ancestors lived out here. Few visitors get to explore St. George’s history and properties in this way. Whether you’re an avid architecture enthusiast, a photographer looking for that perfect shot, or you’re just looking to enrich the mind, this tour provides the perfect opportunity to discover Bermuda’s heritage.

Tours are held every Saturday, starting at 2:15pm in front of the Town Hall in St. George’s. Tours run weekly until the end of the year.

Tickets are $30 each and available from www.Ptix.bm.

For more information, contact manager@sgf.bm.

2018 / Documentary / PG / 91mins

The Biggest Little Farm follows two dreamers and a dog on an odyssey to bring harmony to both their lives and the land.

When the barking of their beloved dog Todd leads to an eviction notice from their tiny LA apartment, John and Molly Chester make a choice that takes them out of the city and onto 200 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, naively endeavoring to build one of the most diverse farms of its kind in complete coexistence with nature. The land they’ve chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought. The film chronicles eight years of daunting work as they attempt to create the utopia they seek, planting 10,000 orchard trees and over 200 different crops, and bringing in animals of every kind.

The film starts at 7:30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront opens for dinner at 5pm, and ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner (food only) after the film. Reservations required. Please call 295-4207 for reservations and be sure to mention the film.
