Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club wants you to meet Ewan Proctor at Penfolds Wine Portfolio Tasting event on Thursday, May 23rd.
Taste and learn about the premium wines from this famous Australian producer. Proctor is Penfolds Head of Luxury Education and wines in his portfolio include the iconic Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon, Bin 28 Kalimna Vineyard Shiraz and the recently released Max Shiraz…along with others.
The event will run from 5pm until 7:30pm at Marcus’ (may change depending on number of participants), where you will explore 6 wines.

Every Thursday Latin Vibes will fill Sea Breeze Lounge starting on May 23rd.

The party is from 10pm until 3am on Whites Island. The boat leaves from Albuoy’s Point at 10pm and every 30mins thereafter. Last boat to the island leaves at 12:30am.
Walshy Fire, DJ Mystro, DJ Jim Brown, DJ Fresh Kid, and Fire Wayne will be playing 40% Soca, 60% Hip Hop, Dancehall, Afrobeats, and Top40 hits.

From 6pm until midnight, they invite you to party on the terrace to the sounds of Working Title and The Unit Band. They are also pleased to offer a new selection of tapas, sushi and cocktails.

Penfolds is an Australian wine producer that was founded in Adelaide in 1844 by Christopher Rawson Penfold, an English physician who emigrated to Australia, and his wife Mary Penfold. It is one of Australia’s oldest wineries, and is currently part of Treasury Wine Estates.
The event starts at 7pm on the hotel’s Regency Terrace Patio, where host, Ewan Proctor, head of Penfolds Luxury Education, will guide you through a selection of wines, paired with dinner.

Bermuda National Gallery Lecture Series presents: “Beyond the White Cube; Art Fairs Galore Discussing the role of Art Fairs in the contemporary art world, featuring Tumelo Mosaka on Thursday, May 30th.
Tumelo Mosaka is an independent curator who has worked within and outside museums exploring global transnational artistic practices especially from Africa, the Caribbean and North America. Most recently, he was the Chief Curator for Investec Cape Town Art Fair, South Africa. His projects have examined themes such as migration, identity and racial injustice. His curated exhibitions include, Turning Tide, at the Mémorial ACTe Museum, Guadeloupe (2017), Andrew Lyght: Full Circle, Dorsky Art Museum, New York (2016), Poetic Relations, Perez Art Museum, Miami (2015), and Otherwise Black at the 1st edition International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Martinique (BIAC) 2014.
Mosaka was also the Contemporary Art Curator at the Krannert Art Museum (KAM) in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois where he curated several exhibitions including: Blind Field (2013), OPENSTUDIO (2011), and MAKEBA! (2011) among others. Prior to joining KAM, Mosaka was the Associate Curator of Exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, NY where he curated Infinite Islands: Contemporary Caribbean Art (2007), and Passing/Posing: Kehinde Wiley (2004) among others. Mosaka is born in Johannesburg, South Africa and currently resides in New York.
The event begins at 5:30pm with a reception, followed by the lecture at 6pm.

St. George’s Historical Society and St. George’s Foundation are holding a joint fund raising event: a Slide Show Presentation by Scott Stallard at the World Heritage Centre on Thursday, May 30th.
The event starts at 6pm at the centre at Penno’s Wharf, where renowned photographer Scott Stallard will talk about his recent travel to Kamchatka in the Siberian wilderness. See the wonderful photographs he has taken of this astonishingly beautiful country.
Refreshments will be provided before the presentation.

Calling all Queens! The Reading Clinic are hosting a Mother-Daughter Themed Vision Board workshop on Friday, May 31st.
This will be from 6:30pm until 7:30pm at their premises on 54 Serpentine Road. This experience aims to assist individuals in a fun and action orientated atmosphere as an option to continue on their journey of success or start a new journey.
The participants will set goals whether individual or joint, increase communication through creating visual representation, and even receive a little coaching. They will build and expand our circles/tribe in a mixed audience of mother-daughter, mentor-mentee, sister-sister, and the like pairs together.
At the end this experience the participants will be inspired, empowered, rejuvenated and transformed. It does not stop there, they will receive a follow-up to check-in on their progress.

KBB’s 8th Annual FREE Trash Art Workshop: Return to Sender will be held at the BSoA on Saturday, June 1st.
From 10am until noon at the gallery on the top floor of City Hall, you will learn how to turn trash into treasure. Eight million tonnes of trash enters the ocean every year. This workshop is to help raise awareness by creating art that will be on exhibit at BSoA in the Trash Art Show, from June 7 – July 2nd.

BIFFFlix Presents: Amazing Grace, the Aretha Franklin documentary, on Wednesday, June 5th.
In 1972, at the height of her musical powers, Aretha Franklin recorded the album, Amazing Grace, at Reverend James Cleveland’s New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles. She was accompanied by the Southern California Community Choir in front of a lively audience/congregation. The record became the best-selling gospel album of all time. The recording was filmed for a documentary, but it has never been released – until now! Forty-seven years later, the film is a testimony to the greatness of Aretha Franklin and a time machine window into a moment in American musical and social history.
The film (rated G) starts at 6:30pm at Specialty Cinema, and is 87 min long.

The next lecture in the Bermuda Heartbeats Series: Prudent Rebels: Bermudians and the First Age of Revolution (1774-1849) Lecture & Book Signing will take place on Thursday, June 6th.
The event starts at 6pm at Bermuda College North Hall Lecture Theatre, where author’s of the book, Dr. Clarence V.H. Maxwell, Dr. Theodore Francis II and Alexandra Mairs-Kessler, will discuss the often divergent aims within the Bermudian community between enslaved and slaveholding castes during the Age of Revolution. The lecture will also examine the forces in Bermuda that shaped Abolition and helped craft a post-Abolition order.
This is a free lecture, however seating is limited.

Calling all Fashionistas! The Bermuda Fashion Festival is coming back from July 7th to July 13th, starting with The Maybelline Final Evolution on Sunday, July 7th.
This show is well-known as the original sole show that began the week-long festival; this production will be the first show of the week. It will exude a new life as it combines retail presentations from stores island-wide with live entertainment, unique props and creative choreography. Participants will be invited to have vending booths to display their products on site at the show.

The final event in the festival: The iHope Global Bermuda Designer Showcase will be on Friday, July 12th.

The upcoming designers produce a ready-to-wear runway collection for this breathtaking finale show which exudes uniquely procured quality designs.
Featured Bermuda Labels and Designers include: Native by Channing Elizabeth; Sevuhn by Chineza Augustus; Street Lux by Charda Simons & Kimmisha Perinchief; Subtropic by Courtney Chiappa; Thirty86 by Christine Jones; and XoeTiqu by James Lee.
