Here’s your weekly update with all of the latest events that have been added to the calendar since last week. As always, be sure to check out the Quick Recap section at the bottom of this post, for a list of ALL upcoming events, including those previously covered in previous posts.

Fairmont Southampton resort invites you to the Labor Day Weekend Bubbles Brunch & Cookout on Sunday, September 1st.

From 10am until 2pm, you can celebrate Labor Day weekend with a Prosecco Brunch and live grilling stations at an enhanced Sunday Brunch at Windows on the Sound! Whether you are in the mood for freshly made Crêpes, classic breakfast items of pastries, eggs and bacon, or traditional Bermudian dishes with codfish and potatoes – they assure you there is no better way to celebrate then with a glass of bubbly and great cookout on the lawn.

Come out and enjoy “Reggae music & Brunch pon a Sunday” at Let’s Brunch on Sunday, September 1st.

From 11am at Inferno Lounge, the all-day event promises a unique brunch experience, mixing the sweet sounds of reggae music, a buffet of flavourful Caribbean food, and signature mouth-watering cocktails and desserts by Chef Ashley. After brunch, you can party into the evening with music by DJ Coolie, DJ Fresh Kidd, World Famous & Prezidential Elite, and special guest selector, Ninja Cutty.

Sybil’s Dynamic Female Impersonators, an adult show to mark Bermuda’s first Pride this weekend, will take place at City Hall on Sunday, September 1st.

The show stars the Queen of Bermuda, Sybil Barrington, along with fellow drag artists: Roxy, Ivana Sugga Pie Koko, Fifi, Steve Lindsay, and locals Chrissy Dior, Sahara, Octavia and Ms. Roundabout.

Showtime starts at 8pm in the Earl Cameron Theatre.

MayaVeraWellness in association with counsellor Jana Outerbridge, presents Power Hour: Back to School Motivation on Friday, September 6th.

It’s time to head back to school, and whether you’re you a ‘please do not make me go!’ or a ‘let’s get this year started’ type of person, all high school girls are welcome to attend this Power Hour of fun and learning.

From 10:30pm until 11:30pm at a location to be announced to registrants later, girls can come and have some laughs, play a few games, listen to music, take away some practical tips and set goals for the school year. This promises to be great way to connect, learn, have fun and relax.

After the power hour, for the entire month of September, all participants are welcome to schedule a check-in session with the facilitator Jana Outerbridge, who holds a post-graduate certificate in counselling psychology from City University London and University of the West England. This will be most helpful after you have received your school schedule, have met your teachers and have a good idea of what to expect for the year.

New exhibitions are opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts on the top floor of City Hall on Friday, September 6th.

The Onions Gallery will feature the BSoA Members Fall Show, a juried show by member artists. Studio C/D will feature “The Serjeant’s Cup” Marine Art Prize
sponsored by BSoA and hosted by St. Peter’s ‘Their Majesties Chappell’. Edinburgh Gallery will feature Richard James & Kyle James exhibition, a Father & Son exhibition of Ariel and photographic works.

Studio A will feature Hues and Views by Cheryl Hastings. All profits go to the Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation Play Therapy Bursary. And Studio B will feature A Journey’s Introduction by Adrienne Smatt.

The opening reception starts at from 5pm on September 6th. The shows will run until the end of day on October 1st.

Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays.

Celebrate the return of lobster season at Lobster Night at The Loren on Saturday, September 7th.

From 7pm until 11pm, you are invited to join them on a culinary journey, to explore the flavours of lobster. Diners will witness a “Battle of The Lobsters” and judge which is better – the sweet Maine Lobster from up North or the local Spiny Tail Lobster that roams the local waters of Bermuda.

First Course on the Menu is: Maine Lobster Tail, Petrossian Caviar, Lacy Potato, Melted Leeks, Crème Fraiche; Paired with Croix Senaillet St. Veran ‘Les Rochats’ 2016.

Second Course: Spiny Tail Lobster Terrine, Foie Gras, Duck Confit, Oyster Mushroom, Mulberry Jam, Brioche; Paired with Rimauresq Cru Classé Rosé 2018.

Third Course: Vermont Butter Poached Northern Lobster, Celery Root Ravioli, Tarragon Cream; Paired with Failla Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2016.

Fourth Course: Bermuda Lobster Tail & Prime Beef Filet Mignon, Hudson Valley Corn Panna Cotta, Haricot Verts, Lobster Butter, Wild Bermuda Rosemary Demi Glace; Paired with La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza 2009.

Enygma Productions proudly presents: Rowdy Piper and ArijahKnows aka Live Wires backed by The Kings on Saturday, September 7th.

Doors open at 8pm at the historic Blue Waters Anglers Club, and the live music extravaganza will take place from 9pm until midnight.

All members of the public are invited to a French movie with English subtitles, for the September edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes, showing Le Grand Bain (Swim or Sink) on Tuesday, September 10th.

France 2018 – 2h 2mn (Comedy/Drama) By Gilles Lellouche with Mathieu Amalric, Guillaume Canet, Benoît Poelvoorde and Virginie Efira. 

A group of 40-something guys, all on the verge of a mid-life crisis, decide to form their local pool’s first ever synchronized swimming team – for men. Braving the skepticism and ridicule of those around them, and trained by a fallen champion trying to pull herself together, the group set out on an unlikely adventure.

The film starts at 8pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.

Tickets are $7 for BUEI/AF Members and students, $12 for Non-members, and available from the BUEI Oceans Gift Shop.

The City of Hamilton’s Fresh Air Films in the Park series returns, with two free movie screenings in Queen Elizabeth Park, on Friday, September 13th.

At 6pm film enthusiasts can enjoy How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, whilst the second screening at 7:45pm will bring the Marvel superhero epic Avengers: Endgame to the big screen.

The City of Hamilton encourages the public to come out and bring blankets and chairs, picnics or takeout, and settle in for a double-header of blockbuster films.

There will be vendors at the event including Ashley’s Lemonade and Hot Dog Delight providing popcorn, hot dogs, drinks and candy.

Entry is free.

R&B Promotion, aka Richie B, aka Belco presents Naked Stranger Tour with Dexta Daps on Friday, September 13th.

The world premier event will be hosted by MC King Somner, atop the Side Roof Top at Pier 6. You can expect performances by local entertainers; Jesse Seymour, Singa Bwoy, G-Top, Izzy Bennet and Combat, and music by Fire Marshall and DJ National out of Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Gates open at 8pm, the event finishes at 3am.

A limited number of Early Bird tickets are available at $60, until supplies last, after which tickets are $80 for General Admission, or $200 for VIP tickets (includes free food, open bar and bottle services all night.)
