Morning Troops!

Welcome to the first post of April and the second quarter of 2016.  I have already had my first sunburn of the year so it’s practically summer in my book!

Here are the latest Bermuda events for April and beyond:

0408stiritup

The Reefs Resort & Club invite you to join them on Friday evenings for their Stir It Up Cocktail Series

From 6pm until 8pm each week until June 24th, you can participate in the hands-on creation of various styles of cocktails with expert Mixologists providing personal instruction on cocktail creation techniques.

Learn how to make the classics and add unique twists with seasonal ingredients. A first of its kind for Bermuda, this interactive experience will feature a different cocktail style or technique each week. These fun sessions are designed for stand-alone instruction, so prior participation is
not required.

You can further the fun once a month at their Amateur Cocktail Challenge, where you can compete to showcase your skills in specified cocktail preparations. The Challenge will be on the last Friday of each month and will take place at the end of that day’s series.  A panel of judges will determine each month’s winner. Finalists will be invited back to compete in the Stir It Up Amateur Cocktail Challenge in November.

The winning cocktail creation will be featured as The Reefs’ official 2017 Perfectly At Ease signature cocktail. The winner will also receive their choice of a 5-night stay for two, or dinner for two each month at any of The Reefs’ restaurants for an entire year. Complete details on the the Stir It Up Amateur Cocktail Challenge can be found at www.TheReefs.com/Stir-It-Up.

The Reefs thanks Burrows Lightbourn Ltd. for their support with the Stir It Up Cocktail Series and Amateur Cocktail Challenge.

Participation in both the Stir It Up Cocktail Series and Amateur Cocktail Challenge is free.  The drinks that you make as part of the series are complimentary and the a la carte menu will be available for anyone who wishes to purchase additional drinks or snacks.

For more information, contact Marielle Arneaud at marneaud@thereefs.bm.

Morning to you, all my Easter chicks and bunnies!

page

It’s that time of year again!  Even if you don’t celebrate the religious aspect of Easter, most of Bermuda will enjoy hot cross buns with fishcakes, and flying our kites at Horseshoe Bay on Good Friday, in addition to the chocolate coma on Sunday.  Although, maybe I’m just speaking for myself about the whole chocolate coma thing…

This week’s post is relatively short, as is usual the week of a holiday, so be sure to check out the Quick Recap section at the end to see the full list of what’s coming up.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend in Bermuda!

0317 Asian Lunch Buffet

Enjoy a variety of salads and appetizers, a selection of sushi and daily varieties of delicious dishes at L’Oriental’s Asian Lunch Buffet.

The buffet will be available from noon until 2pm, Monday to Thursday, and will offer a different country’s cuisine each day of the week.  Mondays will be the Philippines, Tuesdays will be Chinese, Wednesdays will be Malaysia and Thursdays will be Thai.

Flowers blooming everywhere, longer days and milder nights – it’s officially springtime in Bermuda!

Here is your update on what has been added to the calendar since last week – there is a lot!:

A number of brave Bermuda residents will have a hair-razing experience at the St. Baldrick’s Head Shave on Friday, March 18th.

From 5pm in the back room at Docksider’s, they will be braving the shave to raise money for children’s cancer charity, The St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  Sponsored by Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, this event will also feature a DJ, face-painting, henna tattoos, and the Two & Quarter Photography photo booth, in addition to the shearing.

Morning Ladies and Gents!

page

I don’t think I even own many devices which don’t auto-update anymore but, just in case you do, don’t forget that we’ll be Springing Forward on Sunday for Daylight Savings Time, leaving winter well and truly behind us.

Waking up will probably be brutal for the first week or so, but at least we can relax and enjoy a more leisurely sunset with the extra hour of daylight at the end of the day.

Here is the latest update on new events that have been added to the Bermuda calendar since last week’s post – enjoy!

0312 Model Call

Calling all models in Bermuda, and anyone who has dreamed of modeling – now is your chance to walk with the best as the Bermuda Fashion Festival is scouting for this year’s event at their Model Call for Kids on Thursday, March 10th and Model Call For Adults on Saturday and Sunday, March 12th and 13th.

Bermuda’s premier fashion week is scheduled to run from Sunday, July 10th to Saturday, July 16th and is shaping up to be more of an international event than ever before, with the involvement of highly recognizable global brands and designers.  The names of international celebrities participating in Bermuda Fashion Festival will be revealed in coming weeks.

From 4pm until 6pm on Thursday, March 10th, the Model Call is an opportunity for children aged 5 and above to participate in Bermuda’s largest fashion event, Evolution Retail Show.  Teenagers up to 18 years are also encouraged to audition.

The Adult Model Call will be from 1pm until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, March 12th and 13th and, this year, they hope to attract many new models, welcoming adults of any age and size, from any background.  There is a thrill to introducing someone new to the Bermuda Fashion Festival experience and they love finding a new diamond – that could be you.  Local models are included in Bermuda’s largest fashion event, Evolution Retail Show, as well the highly-anticipated International Designer and Local Designer runway shows.

All auditions will take place at the lower level of Pier 6.

Auditions are free and there is no charge to model in the fashion shows.

For more information, contact bdafashionfest@cityhall.bm, and for specific details of what to wear visit www.BermudaFashionFestival.com.
