Morning Kids!

Hold on to your hats – it’s a bit of a monster post for you today!  Anyone who thinks there’s nothing to do in Bermuda at this time of year simply isn’t looking hard enough – here’s the latest rundown of Bermuda events for October:

September 24th, 2014: Bermuda Events Update

Morning all!

Apparently, the first official day of Fall was yesterday.  Hmmm…I’m not quite ready to accept this yet so I think we can cling onto Summer for a little longer in Bermuda.  Here are the latest island events:

0925 Willie Cole

The Alchemy of Objects, the next in the PartnerRe Art Lecture Series at Bermuda National Gallery will be on Thursday, September 25th.

The guest speaker will be acclaimed contemporary American sculptor and conceptual artist, Willie Cole, who is known for assembling and transforming ordinary domestic and used objects such as irons, high-heeled shoes, hair dryers, bicycle parts, and other discarded appliances and hardware, into imaginative and powerful works of art and installations.

Cole’s work combines references and appropriation ranging from African and African-American imagery, to Dada’s readymades and Surrealism’s transformed objects, and icons of American pop culture or African and Asian masks, into highly original and witty assemblages.

The reception will be from 5.30pm, followed by the lecture itself at 6pm.

The cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.

For more information, or to RSVP, contact director@bng.bm or 295-9428.
