Morning Troops!

A week today – I am already feeling sleepy in advance of the inevitable food coma.  Here’s the latest round up of what’s coming up in Bermuda:

BNG East Sense of Place

Bermuda National Gallery invite you to the latest exhibition at BNG East in St. George’s.  A Sense of Place features work by local artists William Collieson, Michael Walsh, Christina Hutchings and Peter Lapsley.  Admission is free and the show will run until March 31st.  For more information, contact 295-9428.

Morning Kids!

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Event promoters, just to give you plenty of prior notice, please make sure you submit details of your events well in advance of the Christmas and New Year break.  Since they fall on my usual publishing days of Wednesday this year, it doesn’t make sense to get a post out those two weeks.  This means that the last post of 2013 will be published next week and the first post of the New Year will be on Wednesday, January 8th.

Don’t panic if you can’t get everything finalised in time as you can still submit your event directly to the calendar as usual.  I will still be reviewing and approving submissions during this period so they will still appear on the calendar – they just won’t appear on the Blog section.

Anyway, there are lots of Bermuda events to enjoy this festive season, so here’s the latest roundup:

BMDS

To coincide with this year’s Sleeping Beauty pantomime, Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society (BMDS) is also hosting Fairytale Land in the parking lot at Daylesford Theatre from Thursday, December 5th until Saturday, December 14th.  You are invited to bring your family and join the fun from 6pm on weekday evenings and 1pm on weekends.  There is no cover charge and you will have the opportunity to purchase food and games, photos with Santa and more.  For more information, contact diva@bmds.bm.

The Bermuda Society of Interior Designers (BSID) presents their 2nd Annual Holiday Wreath Show and Silent Auction at Washington Mall from now until Wednesday, December 4th.  BSID members, Industry Alliance members, friends and local artists have created this series of whimsical, dramatic and playful wreaths to be sold to the highest bidder as a benefit for the Coalition for the Protection of Children and the BSID Scholarship Fund. The show can be viewed during the Mall’s normal opening hours, 8am until 6pm, Monday to Saturday.  Bids are being taken now via the Society’s Facebook page with a minimum bid of $50 and increments of $5.  Simply state your bid as a comment on the wreath you would like and highest bid will be declared the winner at the end. On December 4th at 5pm, the winning bids will be announced at the Church Street entrance of Washington Mall, along with a Judge’s Prize and a People’s Choice Award. For more information, contact Jill Henneberger on 292-6041.
