October 3rd, 2018 Bermuda Calendar Update

Can you believe it’s October already?! Halloween is just around the corner and the special holiday events are already starting to pour in. Here’s your update with all the latest events that have been added to the calendar since last week. Boasting an authentic Bermuda experience, Made In Bermuda Nights serves as the staple visitor entertainment outing and is back by popular demand, returning with the Gombey Fest Edition on Thursday, October 4th.

From 7pm until 1pm at Fort Hamilton Park, you can join the launch of this Gombey Festival Weekend, full of activities sponsored in part by the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs. Enjoy performances featuring the famous Wall Street Band, Sheila Smith, and Arijahknow Livewires, with DJ Chubb finishing off the night. The event seeks to attract audiences both foreign and domestic with its variety of local artists, party atmosphere, and fusion of music, art, and inspiration with Bermudian culture.

Made In Bermuda looks to promote Bermuda – her culture and her people with unique activities deeply connected to Bermudian tradition and art. Please note this event will not include a performance from the Gombeys.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs, Goslings, and PinkSand Entertainment.

September 26th, 2018 Bermuda Calendar Update

Ball hockey teams from around the world are to face off in Bermuda when the island hosts the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation’s (ISBHF) World Masters Championship from Tuesday, September 25th until Sunday, September 30th.

Over 600 hockey players, coaches and support staff from 17 North American and European teams in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions will compete for a chance at a Gold Medal. This promises to be one of the biggest ISBHF tournaments on the calendar, with the very best international teams involved.

The tournament, which begun yesterday at Pembroke Community Center (PCC), is packed with almost 10 games per day starting Wednesday, September 26th. The first games begins at 9:15am on most days, and the last game starts at 9:45pm on most nights. The knockout rounds are being held on Saturday with the Medal games on Sunday.

The majority of the tournament will be held at PCC and there is limited car parking available at Admiralty Park. Residents are encouraged to attend on their bikes as there will be unlimited bike parking available at PCC.

A second rink is located in Dockyard, within the former Oracle base camp. The games at the Dockyard rink are between 10am and 12:30 with each team playing a minimum of one game at the Dockyard location. If games are rained out at PCC, the Dockyard rink will see a significant increase in action.

The Bermuda Masters team has been training and practicing hard and needs the island’s support! The scheduled Bermuda games are as follows (weather permitting); Tuesday Sept. 25 at 5:15pm vs. Czech Republic, Wednesday Sept. 26 at 8:30pm vs. Italy, Thursday Sept. 27 at 2:15pm vs. USA, Friday morning Sept. 28 at 10:00am (Dockyard rink) vs. Canada and Friday evening Sept. 28 at 7:15pm vs. Team Slovakia.

BUEI Talks presents: What Does 2019 Hold For You? with Jen Young on Wednesday, September 19th.

Join for an exciting book launch and talk on Numerology with numerologist, Jen Young. Using the Science of Numerology allows one to understand the theme of each year. It is an energetic road map of one’s life. Jen’s new book gives a simple and clear explanation, a forecast for this year and future years.

Knowing the Personal Year for others and one’s self gives insight into the challenges and gifts of each year. Numerology assists in decision making, both in one’s personal and professional life. Timing is everything and this little handbook gives the gift of ‘perfect timing’.

Restoration Fellowship will celebrate their 5th Pastoral Anniversary at Fairmont Southampton on Sunday, September 16th.

September 5th, 2018 Bermuda Calendar Update

Good morning Bermuda! 

We’re officially into the month of September and, despite the fact that summer is basically over now, there is no shortage of things to do on this sunshiny island of ours! Here are all the latest events that have been added to the calendar since last week. Don’t forget to check out the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming events, including those previously covered in previous posts.

 

 

Princeton University’s all male signature a cappella group,The Tigertones will perform live at Orange Bay Company, offering Melodies for Meals on Wednesday, September 5th.

The performance starts at Noon, and 100% of the proceeds are to go to the Salvation Army who assist Bermuda’s hungry. The Salvation Army provide meals for between 50 – 80 folks,  5 nights a week, 52 weeks a year. Donations of $5.50 will pay for one meal and are being collected and counted by Orange Bay Company between September 5th-8th.

All are welcome, and Orange Bay Company will generously give 30% off any purchase from 5th to 8th of September if you have donated one or more meals.
