Merry Christmas Eve Eve, Ladies and Gents!
Well, it’s that time of year again! This is my last post of 2015 so I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas for Friday and a very Happy New Year when it comes! And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, then I hope you enjoy the happy vibes at this time of year. Be good to each other and I hope 2016 is your best year yet! There is still time to leave your mark on 2015 as well so why not get out there and do something memorable?
My next post will be on Wednesday, January 6th. Events can still be added to the calendar, as usual, through the Submit Your Event section in the meantime.

From 6pm until 10.30pm, you are invited to come on out and enjoy a few pints and a round of darts. All drinks are very well priced in a central location. Ask the bartender about becoming a full member.

Bermuda National Trust presents the new regular event A Memorable Evening in Bermuda running on Mondays until the end of April.
Starting at 7pm at 18th Century Verdmont, drinks will be followed by an evening of candlelight dinner theatre in the company of literary icon, Mark Twain. The sumptuous buffet dinner, catered by Fourways, will be accompanied by hand-selected wine from Two Rock Wine, while you enjoy Mark Twain in Reminiscences and Other Lies with Gavin Wilson.
This will run weekly until April 25th, with the exceptions of January 11th and February 22nd.
The cost is $130 per person.

Start off the new year by doing something good for your mind, body and spirit by starting Tai Chi Classes every Tuesday from January 5th.
These will run from 5.30pm until 7pm at Sankofa The Wellness Center.

BUEI and The Gilbert and Sullivan Society are proud to be bringing the Metropolitan Opera’s The Met: Live in HD series to Bermuda (on film) in glorious HD.
With Anna Netrebko in her highly anticipated Met role debut as Leonora, the tortured heroine of Sir David McVicar’s production of Il Trovatore. Dmitri Hvorostovsky sings Count di Luna in the first pairing of the two Russian superstars at the Met since 2002, with Yonghoon Lee as Manrico, the title character, Štefan Kocán as Ferrando, and Dolora Zajick in her signature role of the demented gypsy Azucena. Conducted by Marco Armiliato, this will be in Italian with English subtitles, running for approximately 3 hours, including interval.
Tickets are $35, or $30 for students, and available online at www.pTix.bm. They will also be available at BUEI’s Oceans Gift Shop around a week before each event and can be purchased in person or by phone on 294-0204. Tickets can also be purchased at the door by cash, cheque or card. When purchasing tickets to five or more shows, the price will be discounted to $30 each.
All screenings are at 5pm on Saturdays in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. There will be a pre-performance and intermission cash bar as well as complimentary hors d’oeuvres at interval.

Starting at 8.30am for walkers, 9am for runners, the race will take participants on a 7.2 mile course between Gosling’s Headquarters on Dundonald Street, Hamilton, and the Fairmont Southampton Beach Club.
Competitors will run from Gosling’s HQ, over Cedar Avenue and Burnaby Street to Front Street, then along East Broadway, The Lane, Harbour Road, Burnt House Hill, Middle Road and up The Fairmont Southampton Driveway before finishing at the Fairmont Southampton’s Beach Club.
The race also includes a competitive walking category, a 3-member team relay, and a Junior 3K race. The main draw prize is a three-night stay at The Plaza Hotel, New York with round-trip JetBlue tickets. A variety of great prizes will also be awarded to finishers, tourists and more.
The Gosling’s to Fairmont Southampton Road Race is organised by the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club and sanctioned by the Bermuda National Athletics Association.
The entry fees for Juniors are $5 for current MAAC / MAAC Junior Members, $10 for all others, and free for Gold Members of MAAC (Contact MAAC Jr Co-ordinator).
The entry fees for Adults are $30 for current MAAC Members, $40 for all others, $50 for late entries, $7 for Gold Members of MAAC, and $60 for Relay Teams ($20 per person). Please note that $7 per entry is now included in your race fee as your registration with the BNAA for this event in lieu of BNAA Membership.
$10 of each race fee will be donated to Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

From 3pm until 6pm at Pembroke Community Club (PCC) Rink, at the top of Admirality House, BRDA will be looking for new skaters and no experience or equipment are necessary. They are also looking for male skaters as referees. The basics of Roller Derby will be explained with a mini scrimmage at 4pm.

The Club Yoga Centre in Fritholme Gardens (next to Elbow Beach) invites you to start your yogic journey at their next Yoga Foundation Class starting on Wednesday, January 13th.
This four-week course will run for 1.5 hours each week, making the course 6 hours in total. The Wednesday evening course, starting on January 13th, will run from 6.15pm until 7.45pm. The Saturday morning class will run weekly from 9am until 10.30am, from January 16th. Another Wednesday evening course begins on February 24th and will run from 6.30pm until 8pm. The Thursday morning course will start on February 25th, running from 11am until 12.30pm each week.
This introduction to yoga postures and relaxation is designed for complete beginners and those wishing to revise basic skills. Participants can expect personal attention in a small group with Senior Iyengar Teacher, Kirsten Agar Ward, and no previous experience is necessary.
The cost is $108 for the four sessions.

Athletes from all over the world will come together for the KPMG Front Street Mile (Front Street at 6.30pm) on the Friday, the Bermuda 10K and 10K Walk (National Sports Centre, Devonshire at 9am) on the Saturday, and the Bermuda Marathon and Half Marathon (Front Street at 8am) on the Sunday.

Enjoy National Iyengar Yoga Day and join The Club Yoga Centre for a Free Yoga Classon Saturday, January 16th.
From 12.30pm to 1.45pm, there will a Beginners’ Yoga Class, followed by a class for those new to Iyengar Method from 2pm to 3.15pm.
