Dancers Delight Weekly

Dancer’s Delight is now a regular weekly salsa night at Margarita’s Grill, starting from tonight.  This night of Latin music will be every Wednesday thoughout the summer and from 9pm until 1am, you can enjoy salsa and bachata all night with no cover charge.  Margarita’s tapas and burger menu, as well as their extensive margarita and martini list will also be available.  ​For more details, visit www.SalsaGoddess.me.

 

 

 

 

 

Bermuda Big Game Classic

One for the anglers, the Bermuda Big Game Classic is a three-day big fish team event with top-team honours going to the team that tallies the most points during the tournament. Eligible species for the tournament include blue marlin, white marlin, spearfish, sailfish, yellowfin and bigeye tuna, wahoo and dolphin. The high-point angler, lady angler and junior angler (age 17 and younger) will receive a trophy and prize package.  The tournament will kick off with final registration, captains meeting and kick-off party on Wednesday, July 10th at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess  from 4pm until 9.30pm.  There is still time to enter though as registrations will be accepted until 7.59am on Thursday, July 11th.  The fishing itself will be from Thursday, July 11th until Saturday, July 13th, followed by an awards banquet in the Harbourview Ballroom on Sunday night.  The fee is $3,000 per team which covers the participation of the boat and attendance at all planned entertainment and social activities for up to six registered anglers.  For more details, visit www.bermudabiggameclassic.com.

 

Tales of Cocktails

City Hall invite you to Tales of Cocktails: Island Cocktails Happy Hour on Thursday, July 11th. Whether you’re interested in corporate networking, casual socializing or just a little cocktail experimenting, from 5pm until 8pm on City Hall’s front lawn, you can enjoy music by VIBE 103 DJs and island cocktails such as daiquiris, cuba libres, oak and coke and more. ​This is a cash bar with Happy Hour drink prices and no cover charge.

 

 

 

 

The Movement 2013

The Bermuda chapter of A LOTT of Sista Love, Inc., an international women’s empowerment non-profit organisation, is hosting a conference at the Evening Light Pentecostal Church from Thursday, July 11th to Saturday, July 13th. The Movement 2013 Conference aims to help leaders of church, organisations or any marketplace ministry to be “poured” into through empowerment, prayer, fellowship and workshops.  For more information, contact info@ALottofSistaLove.org or visit www.aLottofSistaLove.org.

 

 

 

Bermuda Conservation GeoTour

Bermuda’s first GeoTour will be launched on Friday, July 12th at Azu Beastro, in the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.  Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices and this GeoTour is a series of 20 hidden geocaches.  From 5.30pm until 7.30pm, you can learn what the GeoTour is all about and how you can earn a beautiful Conservation GeoCoin.  The Launch Party will be happening at the same time as Azu Beastro’s Happy Hour so, although there is no cover charge, drinks and their usual BBQ will be available.  For more information about the GeoTour go to www.conservation.bm/geocaching.

 

 

Pembroke Community Flyer

You are invited to bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the tastes, sounds and sights while supporting your local vendors at the Pembroke Community Festival at Victoria Park on Saturday, July 13th.  From 10am until 8pm, there will be a variety of  vendors including soccer wear, handmade and costume jewellery, children’s and adult clothing and shoes, lingerie,  body oils, handmade handbags, bathing suits to name a few, and you can also expect live entertainment, giant slides, facepainting, games and more.  Admission is free.

 

 

Mark Henderson

Bermudian artist Mark Henderson will be exhibiting his work of acrylic, alkyd, and pen on canvas in Homer’s Café at Masterworks from Saturday, July 13th. Mark has entered in the Charman Prize through Masterworks and features surreal and imaginary subjects in his work.   The show will run until August 9th and artwork is available for purchase.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Venetian July 13th

The ultimate waterfront dining view will be available on Saturday, July 13th as the Venetian yacht is hosting a Dinner Cruise. The evening will include a gourmet dinner with wine, a welcome glass of prosecco and a dessert buffet at a cost of $195 per person.  There are three tables of eight available and you can book a maximum of one table or just book two individuals seats at a table to mix and mingle.   The boat will depart Albuoy’s Point at 6.30pm, returning at 10.30pm.   For more details, or to reserve, contact info@venetian.bm or 704-3000.

 

 

Bailey Outerbridge

Bermudian singer-songwriter Bailey Outerbridge is returning from the U.S. for her first solo concert at 8pm on Friday, July 19th.  Accompanied by The Crossing Band, a group of seasoned musicians who have worked with the likes of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, Bailey will perform original songs from her soon-to-be-released demo album and other favourites at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall.  Partial ticket proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Bermuda Diabetes Association, and Dana’s Angels Research Trust (DART).  Tickets are $55 for general admission, $65 for Patrons, and available from www.pTix.bm.

 

Ana Luna Summer Cruises

One of the best places to enjoy a Bermuda sunset is from the water – which is why Discovery Wines is hosting two more Summer Sunset Wine Tasting Cruises.  The next one has a Red, White and Blue theme  on Saturday, July 20th and the Ana Luna will leave the dock at Grotto Bay at 7pm, returning at 9pm.  The cruise will featuring wines from the USA, France and Chile paired with some tapas and you are invited to dress in those colours and/or continue July 4th celebrations.  The next cruise will be on Saturday, August 24th and will be a Glow Worm Spectacular from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.  In addition to fine wines and canapés, you can also view nature’s laser light show in the form of the glow-in-the-dark mating ritual of these unusual creatures  Tickets are $75 per person and can be reserved by calling 296-9463.  Space is limited and the first cruise in June sold out.

Naked at Stykz

Night Life Entertainment invite you to relax in the VIP area with leather couches and bottle/champagne service at Naked at the Strykz Bowling Lounge in St. David’s on Saturday, July 20th.  From 10pm until late, DJ Keem, G-Money and Twin Starr will be playing dance hall, old school reggae, R ‘n’ B and Hip hop.  Hookah pipes are available in Blue Cove, Pirate Mist and Wild Mint flavours.  I.D. is required for entry, with no exceptions.  The first 15 ladies will get in for free, otherwise admission is $15 at the door.  For more information, contact strykz@live.com.

Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes

Bermuda Police Rugby Club are once again inviting you to dress in costume for their Annual Pre-Cup Match Party! This year’s theme will be Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes and will take place on Saturday, July 27th.  From 7pm until 2am, there will be a cash bar, music, fun and games. Elevation

Par-la-Ville car park will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue as 441 Productions, Veterans in action and the City of Hamilton present Bermuda Rocks on Saturday, July 27th from 8pm.  Elevation, the international U2 tribute band, are back by popular demand and Message in a Bottle will be appearing on the Island for the first time, playing the music of the Police.  The concert will also feature Bermuda’s own Kennel Boys.  A limited number of early bird tickets are available for $35, general admission is $50 and VIP tickets are $75.  All are available from www.bdatix.bm.

 

 

 

Vibe 103

**UPDATE:  This event has been cancelled**  Since so many of the Cup Match festivities will be in St. George’s, 441 Productions, Veterans in Action and VIBE 103 FM have come together to offer some pre-Cup Match fun and food in the West at the VIBE 103 FM Beach BBQ on Sunday, July 28th.  This will be at Snorkel Park Beach from 1pm and music will be courtesy of  VIBE DJs, Shaddyville DJs, DJ Skratch Bastid and a live perfomance by Lyrical.  A limited number of early bird tickets are available for $25, general admission is $35 and VIP tickets are $75.  All are available from www.bdatix.bm.

 

One Life One Love Concert

Another great Cup Match Eve celebration – this time it’s the One Love One Life Concert on Wednesday, July 31st.  Taking place in Par-la-Ville Car Park from 8pm, this event will feature Beres Hammond and the Harmony House Band, UZIMON with his band, New Kingston with special guest Collie Buddz, and Junior C.  The MC for the evening will be Power Girl and the festivities will last until 2am.  Early Bird tickets are $65 (limited to the first 1000), general admission tickets are $85 and VIP tickets are $200.  Tickets are available from www.bdatix.bm, Kit ‘n’ Caboodle, People’s Pharmacy, Sovereign Jewelers, Fish & Tings, Somers Supermarket and Caesar’s Pharmacy.

 

 

Summer Art Camp

A Summer Art Camp will be available for two weeks in August and will keep 10 to 14 year olds entertained for half days.  From 8.45am until 11.45am in Devonshire, art teacher Ms. Tucker will lead them in Drawing, painting and more.  The cost is $250 per week with Week 1 running from August 5th until the 9th and Week 2 running from August 12th until  the 16th.  For more information, or to register, contact islandarts@northrock.bm. Jim Kuhlman

Inspired by scenic views, light and the colours of Bermuda, Special Exhibit artist Jim Kuhlman will be showcasing a variety of watercolour paintings in his show Breathing at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.  The Opening Reception will be on Friday, August 9th from 5.30pm until 7pm in the Rick Faries Gallery.  Donations are gratefully accepted and there will be complimentary wine and cheese. The show will run until August 28th and artwork is available for purchase.  Jim will also host a watercolour clinic on Saturday, August 10th at 10am. To register, contact 299-4000.

 

 

Bermuda Civic Ballet Summer Selections

After the success of their 40th anniversary production, Romeo and Juliet last year, the Bermuda Civic Ballet are having a slight change in focus to support local choreographers and dancers in their Summer Selections 2013.  This production will be at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall at 8pm on Friday, August 9th and Saturday, August 10th and is being billed as an enthralling mixed programme of classical ballet and modern dance.  Local choreographers are Dominique Willis, Jelani Veney and James Waddell, and there will also be pieces from their overseas teachers as well as two pieces from overseas dancers, Lorien Slaughter and Emma Lister.  Tickets are $40 for adults, $30 for seniors, $20 for under-18s and are available from www.pTix.bm.

 

 

Night of Champions

One of the few times when it’s okay to judge people based on their appearance, the Bermuda Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation presents the 26th Annual Night of Champions on Saturday, August 17th.  This will take place at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts and categories will include bodybuilding, figure, physique, classic and more.  Admission will be $20 for the prejudging at 10am and $50 for the main event at 7pm.  For more information, contact bbbfexec11@gmail.com.

 

 

Fairmont Southampton

 There are a few new additions to the Regular/Recurring Events sections, thanks to Fairmont Southampton.    Firstly, their Cabana Bar and Grill is hosting a Sunset Beach Barbeque, twice a week on Tuesdays and Sundays. From 6.30pm until 10pm, an abundant BBQ selection will be served straight from the beach grill, which you enjoy local live entertainment.  Entertainment will be courtesy of Mike Hind on Tuesdays and & Sundays by The Crown & Anchor Trio on Sundays.  After dinner, you are invited to snack on marshmallows and s’mores roasted over their fire pit.    The cost is $34 per adult or $17 per child (aged between 6 and 12), plus 17% gratuities.  Reservations are required.  The Ocean Club Terrace Bar Happy Hour invite you to join them for cocktails made with freshly squeezed juices or a selection from the terrace bar menu.  This will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with live island tunes and panoramic views from 3pm until 6pm.   Entertainment is courtesy of Crown & Anchor on Mondays and Fridays, and  Mike Hind on Wednesdays.  Reservations are not required.  A Happy Hour on the beach awaits you at Cabana Bar & Grill every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer.  Between 3pm and 6pm, you can enjoy island-inspired cocktails and live entertainment.  Entertainment is courtesy of Michael Cacy on Tuesdays and The Crown & Anchor Trio on Thursdays.  Reservations are not required.  Jasmine Lounge will be providing live entertainment from Wednesday to Sunday from 9pm until midnight throughout the Summer.  Entertainment will be courtesy of Earl Leader, Tony Bari and Dennis Francis on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and The Unit on Friday and Saturdays.  Reservations are not required.  For more details, or to make a reservation, contact 238-8000.  Glow-in-the-Dark Night Golf is on offer at Turtle Hill Golf Club at the Fairmont Southampton, every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer.  This is a fun Texas Scramble tournament from 8.30pm.  All equipment is provided and you can play 6 to 9 holes, guided along the course by glowing beacons and illuminated neon golf balls.  The cost is $29 per person, plus 15% gratuities, or $99 for a team of 4, plus gratuities.Reservations are required by 1pm to play that evening.  The Dock at the Waterlot Inn is also open for the season and from 5pm until 10pm, Thursdays until Sundays (weather permitting), you can enjoy light bites, an inventive cocktail from their new mixology list, live music and sunset views over Jews Bay.  Entertainment is courtesy of Michael Cacy on Thursdays, Mike Hind on Fridays and Sundays, and Crown & Anchor on Saturdays.  Reservations are not required.  For more details, or to make a reservation, contact 238-8000.
