So….is anybody even reading this or have you all started the Cup Match festivities already?  I’m pretty sure that over 80% of people who are physically in work today have already mentally checked out.  Anyway, you should definitely read this, otherwise, how will you know what’s happening in Bermuda AFTER Cup Match?

Morning Troops!

An exceptionally quiet post for you this week but I expect to be completely inundated as soon as Cup Match is over.  Here’s the latest update of Bermuda happenings:

My Sereni-Tea exclusively presents what they describe as an enticing, delightful temple gathering in honour of the Ancient Goddess and Warrior on Friday, July 25th.

Masquerade Candlelit Lounge: Awaken the Goddess and Warrior will begin at 7.30pm and will include champagne and exotic strawberries, yummy light bites, chocolate fondue tower, Greek and Roman decor, Goddess and Warrior attire, mini massages, Goddess readings, silent auctions and prizes.

Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased by July 22nd.

Morning Kids!

The big one is approaching – if you’re looking for a listing of Cup Match events in Bermuda, you’ve come to the right place:

Residents and visitors alike can enjoy a fun glimpse into the history of Dockyard on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings throughout the summer season until October 3rd.

The Historical Re-enactments will begin at 9.30am in the Victualing Yard and will be done as a humorous and informative style skit, with actors in period costume.

Entry is free and seating is available.

Following the Historical Re-Enactment, Dockyard are now offering a free Historical Walking Tour starting immediately afterwords at 9.50am.

The tour will start in the Victualling Yard, going around the Royal Naval Dockyard and promises to be informative and interesting with a local guide dressed in period costume for added appeal. The tour will finish at the Clocktower Mall at 10.30am.

As with the Historical Re-Enactment, this will run every weekday except Thursday until October 3rd.

Morning Kids!

Only three weeks until Cup Match – better start stocking up the rum supplies!  Need something to look forward to before then?  Good news, tomorrow is Pina Colada Day, so why not pretend you’re a tourist and indulge in some pinappley-coconutty concoctions?  Here is the latest rundown of what to do in Bermuda this summer:

Learn more about Bermuda’s history at Bermuda National Library’s Summer Film Series on Wednesdays in July.

Screenings will run from 11am until 1pm each week in the Bermuda History and Cultural Studies Room.

On Wednesday, July 9th, there will be a screening of The Lion and the Mouse, a documentary about the 400 years of shared history between America and Bermuda. This film is enriched with vivid re-enactment and includes narration by Michael Douglas.

Black Fisherman of Bermuda on Wednesday, July 16th, is a documentary featuring members of the Blue Water Anglers Club, showing their contributions to maritime culture and to Bermuda’s heritage.

Emancipation: A Love Story on July 23rd, is the film of a play by Dr. Kim Dismont-Robinson, offering a glimpse into physical and psychological experiences of the Africans who eventually became African-Bermudians during the course of a transatlantic experience that begins in Angola more than 500 years ago.

The July 30th edition will be Behind the Mask, a documentary about Bermuda’s folk dance troupes, the Gombeys, featuring conversations with historians, costume makers, master drummers, and Gombey captains, and accompanied by footage of the dancers themselves.

Morning Ladies and Gents!

Well, we made it to the second half of 2014 already!  And what a busy start there is to it, especially for our North American friends – Happy Canada Day and 4th of July to you all!  Here are the latest Bermuda events for July and beyond:

Looking for a new way to keep the little ones entertained in July?  The Pop Up Playroom is a new indoor play area for children under 5 at the National Sports Centre Pavilion in Devonshire. A range of soft play equipment provides a safe and fun environment for the little ones.

The Pop Up Playroom will be open from 9.30am until 11.30am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in July and will also be open from 2pm until 5pm on Saturday, July 19th.

The cost is $15 for one adult and one child, and $5 for each additional walking child.
