0822 Outta Bounds at Taste 141

Taste 141 invite you to start off your weekend with live music from Outta Bounds on Friday, August 22nd.

The band will be performing from 7pm until 10pm and there is no cover charge.

0823 Black Tie and Ribbons

Bermuda Latin Vibes presents Black Tie and Ribbons, its first ever cancer awareness fundraiser on Saturday, August 23rd.

From 7pm until midnight at Masterworks, you are invited to come dressed to impress and enjoy the music and dancing, while learning a little more about this disease that affects every family in Bermuda.

Performances and fun raffles are scheduled throughout the evening.

Part proceeds to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

0817 Coasts Cliffs and Coves

Coasts, Cliffs and Coves, a members’ juried show including work of all media, is currently showing daily at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard.

The show will remain open until Saturday, September 13th.

0828 BMDS Famous for 15 Minutes

Famous for Fifteen Minutes is back on the Bermuda calendar! This is the 12th annual playwright competition from the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society (BMDS) and presents six original short plays written by local playwrights, from a variety of genres, each lasting 15 minutes (hence the name!) at Daylesford Theatre.

Showtime is at 8pm each night and the show will run from Thursday, August 28th until Saturday, August 30th and then from Wednesday, September 3rd until Saturday, September 6th. The Gala Night is on closing night at 6.30pm with a pre-show reception.

Tickets are $25, or $75 for the Gala Night, and are available from www.bmds.bm.

0831 Grief Following Trauma Workshop

Does someone you love need help moving forward with their grief? The pain of loss is physically demanding, complex and painful and it can be difficult to know what to say and what NOT to say to loved ones.

The Grief Following Trauma Workshop on Sunday, August 31st and Monday, September 1st will assist you in getting these types of questions answered.

Held in the Main Conference Room at the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute from 8.30am until 4pm each day, this 2-day workshop will give you insights into helping your loved one as they journey through their grief.

The cost is $150 and spaces are limited.

0906 St Davids An Island Near Bermuda

The next in the Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series will be a bus and walking tour of St. David’s on Saturday, September 6th.

St. David’s: An Island Near Bermuda Bus and Walking Tour is hosted in collaboration with the St. David’s Island Historical Society with President Rick Spurling serving as speaker for the afternoon.

Buses will depart at 2pm from the Base Gate near Double Dip at the entrance to St. David’s and the tour will include the Lighthouse and Battery, along with Vaughan’s Bay and concluding at Carter House.

There is a $5 fee for this event and spaces are limited. For tickets, contact the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs’ office on the 4th floor at 58 Court Street.

0909 HH Reparation Psychological Rehabilitation and Pedagogical Strategies

The September edition of the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs’ Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series will be Reparation, Psychological Rehabilitation and Pedagogical Strategies on Tuesday, September 9th at Bermuda National Gallery.

This is the 9th Annual Dr. Kenneth E. Robinson/Cyril Outerbridge Packwood Memorial Lecture and the speaker for the evening will be Dr. Verene Shepherd, Professor of Social History at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

The reception will begin at 5.30pm, followed by the lecture at 6pm.

The cost is $10 per person and light refreshments will be served.

0926 Family Centre Beach Bash

The Family Centre Bermuda is hosting their ever-popular fund-raising beach concert/party at the Fairmont Southampton’s Ocean Club beach on Friday, September 26th.

The Family Centre’s Beach Bash is a one of a kind fundraiser which brings the community together for a unique entertainment experience, while keeping the sole focus and purpose of the event on children. From 7pm until midnight, the ocean will be the backdrop for an amazing line up of Bermuda’s best local performers, including Working Title.

The cost is $220 per person, which includes a complimentary drinks reception and wine with dinner. Tickets are available from Family Centre.

1004 Tiaras and Bow Ties

Promising a magical experience like never before, Bermuda’s 2nd Annual Tiaras and Bow Ties will be celebrating fathers and daughters on Saturday, October 4th.

This Daddy-Daughter Princess Dance is for young ladies aged between 4 and 14 years old and will be at the Berkeley Institute Cafetorium.

From 6.30pm, the evening promises to be full of fantasy and fun with hors d’oeuvres and drinks, party favours, princess face-painting, photos, and more. Attendees will also enjoy special performances from overseas princess guests the Ice Queen, Ice Princess, Cinderella and Princess & the Frog. And yes, a performance of Let it Go will be included.

It will all finish around 9.30pm, so plenty of time to get home before you turn into a pumpkin.

Part proceeds will go to charity.
