Welcome to the last post of August – didn’t that go by in a flash?! Here is the latest update on island events and don’t forget, as always, to check out the Quick Recap section at the end for a full list:

 

0827 Each One Reach One Campaign

Gina Spence Productions and Gibbons Company presents their Each One Reach One Back-to-School Campaign with the nomination deadline on Thursday, August 27th.

To nominate your child for the clothing drive, visit the Children’s Department of Gibbons Company and a GSP volunteer will contact you if your application has been successful. Nomination forms must be completed by a parent or guardian either in-store or online at www.gspic.org.

Volunteers will then distribute clothing to successful nominees at the old Sound Stage location in the upper level of the Washington Mall between 11am and 6pm on Saturday, August 29th.

Clean and well-kept school clothing can be donated at the drop-off box available at Gibbons Company Children’s Department. Donors will receive a 20% discount on selected school clothing.

August 19th, 2015: Bermuda Events Update

Well, it might look as if winter has come early this year but at least the rain is warm – let’s hope it brightens up a bit soon so that we can enjoy the end of the summer. Β Here’s the latest on what’s coming up in Bermuda:

 

0702 KICS Summer Book

Promising to be a great event for avid teen readers from M1 and up, KICS Reviews by Blu will be tackling more books in Breeana Putttroff’s The Dusk Gate Chronicles series at The Bookmart on Thursday, August 20th.

Join Blu and friends as they complete books 2 and 3 in the summer book series, Roots of Insight and Thorns of Decision, from 6pm until 8.30pm. KICS Reviews by Blu is an online teen book club produced by a teen and features reviews of some of the popular YA titles every Friday.

Admission is free and there will also be door prizes and snacks.

0812 Bermuda National Library Summer Film Series

Learn more about Bermuda’s history at the Bermuda National Library’s Summer Film Series on Wednesdays in August.

From 11am until 2pm, you are invited to bring your brown bag lunch and join them for free films in the Bermuda History and Cultural Studies Room.

Upcoming features include Bermuda’s Famous Talbot Brothers: A Celebration in History, Pictures and Song on August 12th, The Bermuda Tattoo 2005 on August 19th and BNL Cultural Studies Film on Aug 26th. The latterΒ film is a documentary that explores politics, Pan-Africanism, music and religion.

August 5th, 2015: Bermuda Events Update

Hope you all had a wonderful Cup Match and that the return to reality hasn’t been too painful! Β Here is the latest news on what’s happening in Bermuda in August:

Experience a walking tour like no other at Haunted History in the beautiful Town of St. George’s, on Wednesdays and Thursdays until the end of September.

The tour departs King’s Square at 7.30pm and the story-teller will spend around 75 minutes guiding you through the winding alleys and lanes of the olde towne, enthralling you with stories of our famous residents from days of olde. But be aware – your footsteps may just awake those who slumber beneath the ground.

Tickets are $30, or $25 for those under 16 and over 65, and available from www.pTix.bm.
