November 15th, 2017 Bermuda Calendar Update

Did you know that November 15th is National Bundt Pan Day? Okay, so it’s a bit random, but what a great excuse to indulge in some rum cake!

Here is an update of everything that has been added to the network of Bermuda events calendars since last week.

Gosling’s Limited has collaborated with some of Bermuda’s top local vendors to bring you their 3rd Annual Luxury Shopping Night on Wednesday, November 15th.

From 5.30pm until 8.30pm at Gosling’s Wine Cellar, you are invited to join them as they sample a selection of craft beers, premium wines and spirits from their portfolio while browsing for gifts by 11 of Bermuda’s top local vendors. Miles canapés will be served alongside craft cocktails by Twisted Spoon. There will also be special savings on featured items and door prizes too.

The cost is $45 per person.  Space is limited and a credit card is required to secure your booking.

ISACA and IIA Bermuda Chapter are jointly hosting the Annual Conference entitled, Deconstructing Emerging Trends in Risk and Technology, on Friday, November 17th.

From 8.30am at the Hamilton Princess, you are invited to a great opportunity to learn from distinguished speakers, participate in interactive activities, earn CPE credits and network with other professionals.

Grab a bargain at the monthly Peace Lutheran Car Boot Sale on Saturday, November 18th.

This will run from 9am to 2pm and promises lots of bargains for everybody, including clothes for women, men, children and babies, shoes, boots, toys, DVDs, CDs, books, lots of household items, plants, gifts and so much more. They say that everyone keeps saying they are the best Car Boot Sale on the island, so invite you to come and see why.  You can even enjoy a hot dog and cup of coffee while you shop.

Shop at Bermuda’s biggest arts and crafts festival with over 40 local vendors at BUEI’s 5th Annual Harbourside Market on Saturday, November 18th.

From 10am until 4pm at BUEI, there will also be photos with Santa, free movies in Tradewinds Auditorium, a preview of the pantomime, a soup stall and train rides for the kids.

Admission and parking are free.  Be sure to bring cash on the day as not all stalls will accept credit cards.

Now celebrating its 11th year, the spoke-tacular TMR Youth Mountain Bike Series will be back on Saturday, November 18th.

This free, family-friendly series, sponsored by Tokio Milennium Re (TMR) and Bicycle Works, has the aim to introduce primary school aged children to cycling as a way to help promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.

There are 5 events in this Series held at the Arboretum at 4pm on Saturdays November 18th and 25th, then on January 6th, 13th and 20th, 2018. At the end of the all the Series, one child’s name will be drawn to win a bike from Bicycle Works.

Registration opens 45 minutes prior to the event and children must bring their own helmet, bike and wear sport shoes. Registration can be done at the event and all participants will receive a goodie bag.  The entry form can also be found online here.

Looking for live entertainment on Saturday nights? Running from November to March, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is inviting you to Saturday Night Live at The Grand.

Featuring live vocal performance, the bands are performing from 9pm until 11pm at The Grand, located at 39 Church Street.

The bands and dates so far are The Unit on November 18th and 25th, Working Title on December 2nd, Devils Isle Audio (DIA) on December 9th and 16th, and Live Wires on December 23rd and 30th.

BUEI Screens invites you to a screening of Stronger on Sunday, November 19th.

Stronger is the inspiring true story of Jeff Bauman, an ordinary man who captured the hearts of his city and the world to become the symbol of hope following the infamous 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Filled with raw emotion, humanity and humor, ‘Stronger’ is the inspirational real-life story of the man who became the living embodiment of “Boston Strong.”  This R rated drama has a running time of 119 minutes.

The film begins at 5.15pm in BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event.  Reservations are required.  Please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. Tickets are $15 each, $10 for students, and are non-refundable within 24 hours of the event.

Things aren’t always as they appear – find out more at Curious Curios at the Bermuda Historical Society Museum every Tuesday (except on public holidays) until April from November 14th.

From 11am each week, except on public holidays, you are invited to join historian John Cox as he shares with you fascinating stories about the Museum’s collection that often go untold.

The Museum is open from 10.30am until 1pm, Monday to Saturday except on public holidays.

There is no cover charge.

You are invited to come out to celebrate and support Bermuda’s finest young musicians as the Bermuda Youth Orchestra in partnership with the Royal Bermuda Regiment Band presents their annual Fall Concert, 2017 on Sunday, November 19th.

From 4pm at St. John’s Anglican Church, this family friendly concert will provide a range of modern and classical works, with something to delight every member of the family.

Enjoy some free art activities in the Botanical Gardens as Masterworks Education presents Super Saturday on Saturday, November 25th.

From 1pm until 4pm, children and families can participate in a variety of free animal-themed creative art activities for all ages.

Homer’s Cafe will also be open from 9am until 4pm, so you can enjoy a delicious lunch or snack with the family.

The Kiwanis Club of St George’s, in association with Alpha Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, presents its annual Coping With Grief session on Friday, November 30th.

Starting at 6.30pmat the Ebenezer Methodist Church on York Street in St George’s, this program offers practical ways to cope with your loss and begin your healing process.

It is free, non-denominational, and open to all ages. Participants are invited to bring a photo of their loved ones.

Treat your kids while having a night off at Late Night Shopping and Parents Night Out Festive Mini Aerial Arts Camps on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday, December 2nd until December 22nd.

From 6pm until 10pm at Lotus Mind Body Spirit Wellness Centre, you can drop your little ones off and enjoy late night shopping, happy hours and company holiday parties. Each Mini Aerial Camp includes aerial classes, a nutrition class, and arts and crafts.  Late Night Shopping will take place on Fridays, December 8th, 15th and 22nd, and Parents Night Out will take place on Saturdays, December 2nd, 9th and 16th.

The cost is $65 per night, which includes dinner and healthy snacks as well as the evening of Aerial Arts.  Advance booking is required.
