November 1st, 2017 Bermuda Calendar Update

Halloween is over and November is here – which means that Christmas stuff will be everywhere you look from now on!  Lots of island events will be happening between now and then, so time will fly by..

The P.A.L.S. 37th Annual Holiday and Craft Fair will be held on Saturday November 4th.

From 10am until 4pm at St Paul’s Church, in the Paget Christian Education Centre, you can come to shop, stay for lunch and bingo and then a raffle draw.  They promise lots of fun, with stalls to include white elephant, golden elephant, jewellery, shoes, books, plants, crafts items, baked goods, children’s items, cards and calendars and outside craft tables.  Donations will be accepted for all stalls until Friday November 3rd at P.A.L.S. Headquarters.

With more food options and great entertainment, celebrate a traditional local greeze at the best event on four wheels at Bermuda’s Food Truck Festival on Sunday, November 5th.

Running from noon until 5pm at Pitt’s Bay Road and Barr’s Bay Park, food vendors participating this year include DeGraff’s Lunch Counter, Scoops n Cones Ice Cream Truck, Jor-Jay’s Lunch Wagon, J&B’s Wood Fired Pizza, Nonna’s Kitchen*, Twisted Spoon, Wild Herbs & Plants of Bermuda*, Bermuda Cupcake Company, Duch Pops, Hotdog Delight, Ashley’s Lemonade Stand, Bite.bm Food Truck, Grillin’ Stix, Coco Vida*, and Dandy Donuts (*vegan options available).

The entertainment line-up will include The Simons Brothers, Prestege, Cush Evans, In Motion Dance Group, Working Title and DJ Rusty G.

This event is free so you would just have to pay for the food and beverages that you want to sample on-site.

Travel Edge, formerly Worldview Travel, invite you to join them for a free presentation on What’s New in Cruising in 2018 on Tuesday, November 7th.

From 5.30pm at the Hamilton Princess, Adam Rog from Travel Edge will present the new cruise ships, destinations, features, and board in Bermuda options. Attending will be representatives form Silversea Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, amongst others.

Did you know that the business courses you’ve taken at Bermuda College count towards beginning your studies for the Canadian CPA?  Find out more at one of two CPA Atlantic Information Sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 7th and 8th.

From 5.30pm in Hallet Hall H115 on the Tuesday and from 1pm in West Hall W108 on the Wednesday, you can join the CPA Atlantic School of Business for one of their on-campus information sessions hosted by Student Recruitment Advisor Amy Burridge.  Pizza will be provided at the Wednesday session.

From noon until 1.30pm at Benedict Associates on Front Street, this interactive and engaging Lunch & Learn by Julia Pitt will help you to garner strategies for dealing with a demanding and overwhelming “To Do” list and make progress on a currently challenging task – this can be related to home or work, personal or professional.

This event is free for Benedict EAP members and $25 for non EAP members.

Come help judges Nikita Robinson, Nadanja Bailey and Lamont Robinson, along with MC Power Girl, choose Bermuda’s next Lip Sync Champion at the Family Centre Lip Sync Battle on Friday, November 17th.

From 7pm in Fairmont Southampton’s Poinciana Ballroom, you can enjoy lots of live entertainment, a complimentary reception and the chance to cast your vote for your favorite lip syncers.  Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $75 or $100 depending on closeness to the stage. Seats are at tables of 10 and tickets can be purchased at www.pTix.bm.  All funds go towards supporting Family Centre’s vital Child & Family Counselling services.

In response to positive feedback regarding the initial conference, a follow-up workshop, Living Life The Titus 2 Way, The Adorned Series, Women Mentoring Women Follow-Up is  and will take place on Saturday, November 18th.

Based on Titus 2:3-5, this workshop will explore more intimately what it means to be a Titus 2 woman based on the criteria listed by the Apostle Paul.

From 2pm until 5.30pm at Willowbank, the afternoon begins with a review of the conference, followed by a time of sharing and discussion. A delicious afternoon tea provides the perfect setting for connecting with women of different cultures and denominations. It is also an excellent opportunity for women of all ages to discover how much they have in common as well as learn that differences can be solved through conversation.

An interactive presentation exploring family life in 2017 by Judith Brooks, Family Counsellor & Parent Education Supervisor, The Child Development Programme, ends the workshop.

Prof. Eddie Ming cordially invites you and your family and friends to The Rhythm Lab’s Vegan Jazz Gathering on Saturday, November 18th.

From 7pm until 10pm at the Rhythm Lab, next to St. George’s Community Centre, this event features live jazz music, featuring Bermuda’s own jazz saxophonist, Dr. Keith Lee.  Also, a delicious and healthy vegan buffet dinner and freshly brewed herbal beverages will be prepared in-house for their guests.

This unique event promises good value, and is an occasion for families and friends to get together for some relaxation and enjoyment.  The dress code is Smart Casual.

The cost for the evening is $30 for general admission and $50 for Patrons. The proceeds will go to the Drum School.  There is limited indoor seating so you are asked to RSVP with the number in your party so that they have an idea of how many to cater for.
