Just to remind you again that next week is the final post of 2017, so don’t forget to submit any upcoming Bermuda Christmas and NYE events that you are hosting to the Submit Your Event section as soon as possible so that I can inform the masses!

The first post of 2018 will be on Wednesday, January 10th but events can still be added to the calendar, as usual, through the Submit Your Event section during this period.

Caring for someone experiencing mental health difficulties can be challenging, so the Bermuda Hospitals Board’s Community Mental Health Services is hosting the Family Support Group: Meet the Junior Minister on Wednesday, December 13th.

From 6pm to 7.30pm in the KEMH 1st Floor Conference Room, across from the staff cafeteria, this family support aims to bring caregivers and families together for confidential support and understanding of one another. This will be a meet and greet with Junior Minister of Disability Affairs, Mrs. Tinee Furbert, JP MP and Mr. Chris Famous. JP MP, so you are invited to bring your questions.

There are four new exhibits opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) in City Hall on Friday, December 15th.

The Members Winter Show, the last members show of 2017 can be viewed in the Onions Gallery.

A father and son show put on by Martin and Stratton Hatfield entitled, Same Same, But Different, will be showcased in the Edinburgh Gallery.

There will be a collection of beautiful water colour paintings by Ruth Vallis entitled Bermuda Retrospective in Studio A, while artist Charles Henry will be displaying a showcase of stained glass pieces in Studio A.

Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. The exhibition will run until Tuesday, January 9th.

The opening reception will be from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, December 15th.

Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

Offering a night off for parents to shop, dine, and relax, The Berkeley Institute Science Department presents Kids Night Out on Friday, December 15th.

From 5.30pm until 9.30pm in the The Berkeley Institute Staff Room, they will be catering to students in Primary 1 to Primary 6.  Activities will include bingo, dance competition, crafts, half-court basketball and games, and a meal is included. The meal includes Chicken & Veggie nuggets, french fries, one juice box, popcorn, Make-your-own-ice-cream, and decorate your own cupcake. Snacks will be on sale.  Teachers are SCARS-trained and CPR certified.

The cost is $25 per child and tickets will be on sale at the Berkeley Institute Front Desk Reception.  They will be charging $1 per minute late fee per child after 9.30pm.

Need a safe, friendly and fun place to leave your primary school aged children while you indulge in some late-night shopping, or simply a night out? Then look no further, as Francis Patton PTA will be hosting a Glow Party on Friday, December 15th.

From 6.30pm until 9.30pm in the School Assembly Hall, your child will be entertained by DJ Coolie while dancing the evening away with friends. Two complimentary glow toys will be provided and additional glow toys may be purchased, in addition to food, drink and snacks. White attire is requested.

The next in the series of BUEI Talks will be Bermuda Back from the Brink with Bob Richards on Friday, December 15th.

How did a six quarter recession in the US turn into a six year depression in Bermuda? Find out the answers to this and more in Bob Richards’ talk about his new book, Bermuda Back from the Brink.  You will also have the opportunity to get a signed copy of Bob’s book – only a limited number of copies have been printed.

There will be a book signing from 7pm, before the lecture starts at 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium, followed by a Q&A session.  Please note the Harbourfront restaurant is closed for a private event.

Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-members, $10 for students, and are non-refundable within 24 hours of the event.

Grab a bargain at the extra edition of the monthly Peace Lutheran Car Boot Sale on Saturday, December 16th.

This last sale of 2017 will run from 9am to 2pm and promises wonderful bargains for Christmas, with so much to offer in the way of gifts.  Items for sale will include clothing, shoes, lots of household items, toys, DVDs, CDs, baby clothes, knitted items, and more.  You can even enjoy a hot dog and cup of coffee while you shop.

Featuring Bermuda’s own Ravi Cannonier-Watson, BUEI Films presents The Nutcracker on Sunday, December 17th.

A young girl’s enchanted present leads her on a wonderful Christmas adventure in this beautiful classical ballet, danced to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score.

The film screening is at 3pm in BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event.  Reservations are required.  Please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and Fairmont Southampton promise that the best celebrations start with them, as they offer their Festive Dining Options for December 2017.

Firstly, you can make merry at The Waterlot Inn with a superb a la carte Christmas menu served from Friday, December 22nd until the 25th. On Christmas Day itself, you can celebrate at The Waterlot Inn with classic holiday cuisine.

Mediterra will also present festive fare on Christmas Day with a three-course prix fixe dinner for two.  You can also choose to opt for offerings from the menu.

Alternatively, you can dine on casual seasonal fare at Boundary on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while Jasmine Cocktail Bar and Lounge will be serving a signature cocktail and crispy duck dinner on December 25th.

Anchor Restaurant in Dockyard invite you to their New Year’s Eve Buffet on Sunday, December 31st.

FourWays Restaurant and ÜberVida presents New Year’s Eve 2018 Dinner and Cruise on Sunday, December 31st.

The evening will begin with pre-dinner cocktails at FourWays Restaurant at 7.30pm, followed by a 5 course dinner at 8pm.  After dinner, festivities will continue aboard Bermuda’s Celebration Yacht, ÜberVida.  Boarding will begin at 10.30pm for a departure at 11pm sharp from Darrell’s Wharf.

Now in its 12th year of making your sides hurt with laughter, Just for Laughs Bermuda is returning to the Fairmont Southampton’s Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre from Thursday, January 11th until Saturday, January 13th.

Bermuda favourite, the legendary Alonzo Bodden is coming back to host for the 10th time, and is joined by Mark Watson (UK), Greg Proops (USA), and DeeAnne Smith (Canada), while Bermuda’s own Jonathan Young will open the show to warm-up your laughter muscles.

The Cabaret-Style Comedy Show will be at 8pm on Thursday, January 11th promises an elegant evening of world-class comedy with round tables of 4, 6 or 10, with optional drinks service and finger foods available at your table.

The Theatre-Style Shows will be on Friday and Saturday, January 12th and 13th.  There are three of these shows in total and showtime is at 9pm on Friday, and at 7pm and 10pm on Saturday.  Please note that the 10pm show will be uncensored.

In addition to the weekend shows, you can also enjoy another extraordinary evening of comedy in a more intimate setting as Alonzo Bodden and Mark Watson share the stage in Double Bill at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall on Wednesday, January 10th at 8pm.  Political satirist Jonathan Young opens the show.
