April 18th, 2018 Bermuda Calendar Update

Morning Kids!

Well, it’s that awkward time of year again, when you’re not sure whether to wear your wellies or your flip flops (Pro Tip: if in doubt, go with flip flops – they’re usually waterproof and the rain isn’t usually that cold in April).

Operating models of Bermuda financial institutions have come under review to drive improvements to both the customer experience and the bottom line. In addition, regulators have been expanding the regulatory and compliance requirements for financial institutions since the 2008 financial crisis. Significant investments have been made in people, process and infrastructure. Now, how do we optimize?

Technologies have emerged from the FinTech sector to help satisfy this need. Questions remain: What solutions exist? What actually works? What are others doing? Where and how can the technology be implemented in Bermuda? What is the right solution for your firm?

KPMG wants to help you understand the answers to these questions as well as provide you with insights into the FinTech landscape as it applies to Bermuda by inviting you to their KPMG’s FinTech Summit: Embracing Technology on Thursday, May 31st.

From 8am until 6pm at Elbow Beach Hotel, they will be bringing together professionals from around the world to share what is happening now, what the future may hold and show you demonstrations and real life examples of the solutions in action.

You will hear from over 15 local and global industry leaders from KPMG, KPMG Matchi, IBM and Oracle plus a key note address from Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP.  This group of professionals will share their insights and host short-form demos so you can see technology in action. You will hear about: The latest in RegTech and future trends; Automating regulatory compliance; The realities of Blockchain; How RPA is transforming operating models; Leveraging data and analytics; and Finding the right fintech partner for you.

Confirmed speakers include Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, Charles Thresh (Managing Partner, Head of Advisory KPMG Bermuda), Kathleen Faries (Head of Bermuda, TMR), Laura Taylor (Managing Partner and CFO, Nephila Capital), Mark Allitt (Managing Director, KPMG Bermuda), Jason Kelly (IBM), Eamonn Maguire (Managing Director, KPMG, US Lead for Blockchain), and David Milligan (CEO, Matchi).
