We are now in May, also known as Heritage Month, and normally at his time of year would be gearing up for Bermuda Day and the Bermuda Day Parade. As we are in Phase One of Bermuda’s phased re-opening, we will have to celebrate our heritage in different ways this year. So here’s a round up of online activities to assist you as we adjust to our new circumstances in the era of COVID-19.

The Employee Assistance Programme Bermuda presents a free online webinar – “Navigating Public School Systems” on Wednesday, May 20th. The guest presenter, Dr. Leonard Astwood – a school psychologist with over 30 years of experience – will provide information about the supports that are available in our public schools for children and their parents. Join Mixologist Stefan Gitschner of Twisted Spoon Cocktail Co. in a master class on cocktail classics, basic bartending and using local and wild ingredients you can use to make cocktails at home! N’Moderation presents their first virtual cooking event, “Havana Nights” on Saturday, May 30th, from 6 to 9 pm. Yes! That’s right, they will use the ZOOM platform to bring their kitchen to yours and vice versa. In the class they will briefly discuss portion control and other aspects that make this meal nutritious. Join Suzan Sickling and Judiann Smith as they create inspirational flower arrangements with unusual containers and flowers you can find in your own garden. Suzan and Judiann have been designing flowers for weddings and events around Bermuda for over 30 years. Their innovation and creativity will leave you wondering, “How did they think of that?” This event takes place on Thursday, June 4th, and is one of the SIP, Shelter In Place, Series, organised by and to benefit the Family Centre.
